⁷ But the end of all things is at hand: therefore be of sound mind and sober judgement for prayer.

¹³ But he who endures to the end shall be saved. ¹⁴ And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world as a testimony to all nations; and then the end shall come.

⁴² Therefore watch: for you do not know on what day your Lord will come.

¹³ Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.

³⁸ Then he said to them, My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death: remain here, and watch with me. ³⁹ And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will. ⁴⁰ And he came to the disciples, and found them asleep, and said to Peter, What, could you not watch with me one hour? ⁴¹ Watch and pray, that you do not enter into temptation: the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.

³³ Take heed, watch and pray: for you do not know when the time will come. ³⁴ It is like a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to each man his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch. ³⁵ Watch therefore: for you do not know when the master of the house comes, at evening, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: ³⁶ Lest he come suddenly and find you sleeping. ³⁷ And what I say to you I say to all, Watch.

³⁷ And he came, and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, Simon, are you sleeping? could you not watch for one hour? ³⁸ Watch and pray, that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.

³⁴ And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be weighed down with dissipation, and drunkenness, and the cares of this life, so that day comes upon you unexpectedly like a snare.

³⁶ Watch therefore, and pray always, that you may be strong and accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

⁴⁶ And said to them, Why do you sleep? rise and pray, that you may not enter into temptation.

¹² Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; faithful in prayer;

¹¹ And besides that, you know the hour, that it is now high time to awaken from sleep: for now our salvation is nearer than when we believed. ¹² The night is far gone, the day is at hand: therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

²⁹ But this I say, brethren, the time is short: from now on let those who have wives be as though they had none;

²⁴ Then comes the end, when he delivers up the kingdom to God the Father; after he has destroyed all rule and all authority and power.

¹⁸ Praying always in the Spirit with all manner of prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert in it with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints;

⁵ Let your forbearing spirit be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.

² Continue in prayer, and be watchful in it with thanksgiving;

⁶ Therefore let us not sleep, as others do; but let us watch and be sober. ⁷ For those who sleep, sleep in the night; and those who get drunk, get drunk in the night. ⁸ But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for a helmet, the hope of salvation.

⁵ But you, be steady in all things; endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

¹² Teaching us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires, and live sensibly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

²⁵ Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as you see the day approaching.

⁸ You also be patient; establish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draws near. ⁹ Do not grumble against one another, brethren, lest you be condemned: behold, the judge stands before the door.

¹³ Therefore gird up your minds, be sober, and fix your hope fully on the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

⁷ Likewise, you husbands, live with your wives considerately, giving honour to the woman as the weaker vessel, since you are heirs together of the grace of life. Do this that your prayers may not be hindered.

⁸ Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, like a roaring lion, walks about, seeking someone he may devour.

⁹ The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some men count slowness; but is patient toward you, not wanting that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. ¹⁰ But the day of the Lord will come as a thief; in which the heavens shall pass away with a roar, and the elements shall be destroyed with fervent heat, the earth and the works that are upon it shall be burned up. ¹¹ Seeing then that all these things shall be destroyed, what kind of people ought you to be? You should live holy and godly lives,

¹⁸ Little children, it is the last hour: and as you have heard that the antichrist shall come, even now there are many antichrists; by this we know that it is the last hour. ¹⁹ They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us: but they went out, that it might be made clear that none of them were of us.

¹⁵ Behold, I come like a thief. Blessed is he who stays awake, and keeps his garments with him, lest he walk naked and ashamed for all to see.
