¹⁸ For Christ died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit,

¹⁹ When he sat down on the judgment seat, his wife sent a message to him, saying, Have nothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.

²⁴ When Pilate saw that he could not prevail, but rather that a tumult was starting, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of this man's blood: you see to it yourselves.

¹⁴ But you denied the Holy and Just One, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you;

¹⁴ And he said, The God of our fathers has chosen you to know his will, and to see the Just One, and to hear the voice of his mouth.

⁴ And through the Spirit of holiness was declared with power to be the Son of God by the resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord,

²⁵ He was delivered to death for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

² By whom we also have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.

⁶ For when we were still without strength, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. ⁷ For one will hardly die for a righteous man: though perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. ⁸ But God shows his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

³ For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God did, sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, as an offering for sin; condemning sin in the flesh:

¹¹ And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead shall also give life to your mortal bodies by his Spirit who dwells in you.

²⁴ Not that we lord it over your faith, but we work with you for your joy: for in your faith you stand firm.

²¹ For our sakes he has made him to be sin, who knew no sin; that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

⁴ For though he was crucified in weakness, yet he lives by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God to serve you.

⁴ Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of our God and Father:

¹³ Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having been made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one who hangs on a tree.

¹⁶ And that he might reconcile both to God, in one body, through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity. ¹⁷ And he came and preached peace to you who were far off, and to those who were near. ¹⁸ For through him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.

²¹ And you who were at one time alienated and enemies in your minds because of wicked deeds, ²² He has now reconciled in his body of flesh through death, to present you holy and blameless and irreproachable in his sight:

¹⁴ Who gave himself up for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify for himself a people of his own, zealous for good works.

²⁶ For then he would have needed to suffer often since the foundation of the world: but now he has appeared once at the end of the ages to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

²⁸ So Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many; shall appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring full salvation to those who eagerly await him.

⁶ You have condemned and killed the just man; and he does not resist you.

²¹ For to this you were called: because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow his steps. ²² He committed no sin, nor was any deceit found in his mouth; ²³ And when he was reviled, he did not revile in return; and when he suffered, he did not threaten; but committed himself to him who judges righteously. ²⁴ He himself bore our sins in his own body on the tree, that we might die to sins and live to righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.

¹ Therefore, since Christ has suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same mind: for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin;

⁶ For this reason the gospel was also preached to those who are dead, that though judged in the flesh as men, they might live according to God in the spirit.

⁹ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
