¹⁰ We are fools for Christ's sake, but you are wise in Christ; we are weak, but you are strong; you are honoured, but we are despised.

¹¹ Blessed are you, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

²² And you shall be hated by all men for my name's sake: but he who endures to the end shall be saved. ²³ But when they persecute you in this city, flee into another: for truly I say to you, You shall not have gone through the cities of Israel, before the Son of man comes. ²⁴ The disciple is not above his teacher, nor the servant above his master. ²⁵ It is enough for the disciple that he is like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more the members of his household?

⁹ Then they shall deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and you shall be hated by all nations for my name's sake.

²² Blessed are you, when men hate you, and when they exclude you, and insult you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake.

¹⁶ He who hears you hears me; and he who despises you despises me; and he who despises me despises him who sent me.

⁹ And he spoke this parable to certain people who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:

¹⁶ I will show him how much he must suffer for my name's sake.

¹⁸ Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the Stoics, encountered him. And some said, What is this babbler trying to say? and others, He seems to be a proclaimer of strange gods: because he preached to them Jesus, and the resurrection.

³² And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked: and others said, We will hear you again on this matter.

²⁴ And as he spoke thus in his defence, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, you are raving; your great learning is making you mad.

¹ Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother, ² To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all those in every place who call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both their Lord and ours: ³ Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

¹⁸ For the preaching of the cross is to those who are perishing foolishness; but to those of us who are being saved it is the power of God. ¹⁹ For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and frustrate the cleverness of the clever. ²⁰ Where is the wise man? where is the scribe? where is the debater of this age? has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

²⁶ For consider your calling, brethren: that not many were wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble: ²⁷ But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are mighty; ²⁸ And God has chosen base things of the world, and things which are despised, and things which are not, to reduce to nothing things that are:

³ And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.

¹⁴ But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness to him: neither can he understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.

² I have fed you with milk, and not with solid food: for until now you were not able to bear it, nor are you yet able.

¹⁸ Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you thinks he is wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.

⁸ Already you are full, already you are rich, you have become as kings without us: and I would that you had become kings, that we might also reign with you.

¹² Therefore, let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.

¹⁴ Therefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry. ¹⁵ I speak as to sensible men; judge for yourselves what I say.

¹⁰ For his letters, they say, are weighty and powerful; but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptible.

¹⁹ For you endure fools gladly, seeing you yourselves are so wise.

²⁹ Who is weak, and I am not weak? who is made to fall, and I do not burn inwardly?

⁹ And he said to me, My grace is sufficient for you: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Therefore, most gladly will I boast in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. ¹⁰ Therefore, for Christ's sake, I take pleasure in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in distresses: for when I am weak, then I am strong.

³ Since you seek a proof that Christ is speaking through me. He is not weak in dealing with you, but is mighty among you. ⁴ For though he was crucified in weakness, yet he lives by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God to serve you.

⁹ For we are glad when we are weak, and you are strong: and this is our prayer, for your perfection.

⁸ Therefore, he who rejects this, does not reject man, but God, who has also given you his Holy Spirit.

¹⁴ Blessed are you if you are insulted for the name of Christ; for the spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.
