²⁷ For indeed he was sick near to death; but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.

³ The sisters therefore sent to him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick. ⁴ And Jesus hearing this said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it.

³⁷ And it came to pass in those days, that she fell sick, and died; and when they had washed her, they laid her in an upper chamber.

³⁹ Then Peter arose, and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber; and all the widows came to him weeping, and showing the coats and cloaks which Dorcas made while she was with them. ⁴⁰ But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down and prayed; and turning to the body he said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes; and seeing Peter, she sat up. ⁴¹ And he gave her his hand, and raised her up; and calling the saints and the widows, he presented her alive.

¹³ No temptation hath come upon you, but such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted beyond what ye are able to endure, but will with the temptation furnish also the way to escape, that ye may be able to endure it.

⁷ so that on the contrary ye ought rather to forgive, and console him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.
