⁵ Hearken, my beloved brethren. Did not God choose the poor as to the world to be rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he promised to them that love him?

³ Blessed are the poor in spirit; for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

⁵ The blind receive sight and the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised, and to the poor good tidings are brought;

³⁴ Then will the king say to those on his right hand, Come, ye blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.

¹⁴ And again calling the multitude to him, he said to them, Hearken to me all of you, and understand.

²⁰ And raising his eyes toward his disciples, he said, Blessed are ye poor; for yours is the kingdom of God.

⁵⁷ And as they were traveling on the way, one said to him, I will follow thee wherever thou goest. ⁵⁸ And Jesus said to him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have lodgingplaces; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

²¹ So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich towards God.

³² Fear not, little flock! for it is your Fathers good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

²² And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to the bosom of Abraham. The rich man also died and was buried.

²⁵ But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou didst receive thy good things in thy lifetime, and Lazarus in like manner his evil things; but now he is comforted here, and thou art tormented.

²⁹ And I appoint to you a kingdom, as my Father appointed to me;

⁴⁸ Hath any one of the rulers believed in him? or of the Pharisees?

² And he said, Brethren and fathers, hearken. The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Haran,

¹⁷ and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and fellowheirs with Christ; if indeed we are suffering with him, that we may also be glorified with him.

²⁶ For consider, brethren, who ye are that have been called; not many wise men after the fashion of the world, not many mighty, not many noble; ²⁷ but the foolish things of the world did God choose, to put to shame the wise; and the weak things of the world did God choose, to put to shame the things which are strong; ²⁸ and the mean things of the world, and the things which are despised, did God choose, the things which are not, to bring to nought things that are;

⁹ but, as it is written: "The things which eye hath not seen, and ear hath not heard, and which have not entered into the heart of man, the great things which God hath prepared for those that love him."

²¹ So then let no one glory in men. For all things are yours; ²² whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come,all are yours; ²³ and ye are Christs, and Christ is Gods.

¹⁵ For all things are for your sakes, that the grace abounding by means of the greater number may cause thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God.

¹⁰ as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and possessing all things.

⁹ For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

¹⁸ the eyes of your mind being enlightened, that ye may know what is the hope belonging to his call of you, and what the riches of the glory of the inheritance which he hath given among the saints,

⁸ To me, who am less than the least of all saints, was this grace given, to make known among the gentiles the glad tidings of the unsearchable riches of Christ,

¹² that ye should walk in a manner worthy of God, who is calling you to his own kingdom and glory.

⁵ an indication of the righteous judgment of God, by which ye will be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye are also suffering;

¹⁸ that they be rich in good works, liberal in imparting, willing to communicate,

⁸ henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me at that day, and not to me only, but to all those who have loved his appearing.

¹⁸ The Lord will deliver me from every evil deed, and preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom; to whom be the glory for ever and ever. Amen.

²⁶ esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; for he looked to the recompense of reward.

⁹ Let the brother of low degree glory in that he is exalted;

¹² Blessed is the man that endureth temptation; for when he is approved, he will receive the crown of life, which He promised to them that love him.

¹⁶ Do not err, my beloved brethren.

⁴ to an inheritance imperishable, and undefiled, and unfading, reserved in heaven for you,

¹¹ For in this way the entrance will be richly furnished you into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

⁹ I know thy affliction and poverty, (but thou art rich,) and the blasphemy of those who say they are Jews, and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.

¹⁸ I advise thee to buy of me gold refined by fire, that thou mayst be rich; and white garments, that thou mayst be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness may not be made manifest; and eyesalve to anoint thine eyes, that thou mayst see.

⁷ He that overcometh shall inherit these things, and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
