⁶ but not finding them, they dragged Jason and some of the brethren before the city magistrates, crying out, These men that have turned the world upside down have come hither also;

¹⁴ And these glad tidings of the kingdom will be published throughout the whole world for a testimony to all the nations; and then will come the end.

⁵ But they were the more violent, saying, He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Judaea, beginning from Galilee, even to this place.

¹² And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and seized him, and brought him to the council, ¹³ and set up false witnesses, who said, This man ceaseth not to speak words against the holy place, and the Law.

¹⁹ But her masters seeing that the hope of their gain was gone, laid hold of Paul and Silas, and dragged them into the marketplace to the rulers; ²⁰ and having brought them before the magistrates, said, These men are grievously disturbing our city, being Jews; ²¹ and they teach customs which it is not lawful for us Romans to receive or observe.

¹² And when Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews rose up with one accord against Paul, and brought him before the judgmentseat, ¹³ saying, This man persuadeth people to worship God contrary to the law.

²⁸ crying out, Men of Israel, help! This is the man that teacheth every one everywhere against the people, and the Law, and this place; and besides he even brought Greeks into the temple, and hath polluted this holy place. ²⁹ For they had before seen with him in the city Trophimus, the Ephesian, whom they supposed that Paul had brought into the temple. ³⁰ And the whole city was in motion, and the people ran together; and they laid hold of Paul and dragged him out of the temple; and forthwith the doors were shut. ³¹ And while they were endeavoring to kill him, tidings came up to the chief captain of the band, that all Jerusalem was in an uproar;

²² And they listened to him as far as this word, and then lifted up their voices, and said, Away with such a fellow from the earth! for it was not fit that he should live. ²³ And as they were crying out, and shaking their garments, and throwing dust into the air,

⁵ For we have found this man to be a pest, and a mover of sedition among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes;

²² But we think it proper to hear from thee what thou thinkest; for with regard to this sect, we know that it is everywhere spoken against.
