³ For the time will come, when they will not endure sound doctrine, but after their own desires will they heap to themselves teachers; because they have itching ears;

²⁶ Woe, when all men speak well of you! for so did their fathers of the false prophets.

¹⁹ And the scribes and the chief priests sought to lay hands on him in that hour, but they feared the people; for they knew that he spoke this parable against them.

¹⁹ And this is the condemnation, that the light hath come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their deeds were evil. ²⁰ For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, and cometh not to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. ²¹ But he that doeth the truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

⁴⁵ But because I speak the truth, ye believe me not.

²¹ Now all the Athenians, and the strangers residing among them, spent their leisure for nothing else but to tell or to hear something new.

¹ And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech, or of wisdom, declaring to you the testimony of God.

⁴ and my speech and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit, and of power;

¹⁶ So then, have I become your enemy because I tell you the truth?

¹⁰ for whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to the sound teaching,

¹ Now the Spirit saith expressly, that in the latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and teachings of demons, ² through the hypocrisy of speakers of lies, who bear a brand on their own conscience, ³ forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from food which God created to be received with thanksgiving, for those who believe and know the truth.

¹ But know this, that in the last days grievous times will come. ² For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without ³ natural affection, implacable, slanderers, incontinent, fierce, without love for what is good, ⁴ betrayers, headstrong, puffed up, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God; ⁵ having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof. And from these turn away. ⁶ For of these are they who creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away by divers lusts,

¹ But there arose false prophets also among the people, as there will be false teachers among you also, who will stealthily bring in destructive factions, even denying the Lord that bought them; bringing upon themselves swift destruction. ² And many will follow their dissolute ways, by reason of whom the way of truth will be evil spoken of; ³ and in covetousness will they with feigned words make merchandise of you; for whom the judgment long ago ordained lingereth not, and their destruction slumbereth not.
