¹² Beloved, be not surprised at the fiery trial which is taking place among you to prove you, as though a strange thing were befalling you;

¹³ the work of every one will be made manifest; for the day will show it; because it is revealed in fire; and the fire itself will prove what every ones work is.

¹³ No temptation hath come upon you, but such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted beyond what ye are able to endure, but will with the temptation furnish also the way to escape, that ye may be able to endure it.

² and sent Timothy, our brother and a fellowlaborer with God in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to encourage you in your faith, ³ so that no one should be shaken by these afflictions; for yourselves know that to this we are appointed; ⁴ for even when we were with you, we told you before that we are to suffer affliction, just as it came to pass, and ye know.

¹² Yea, and all that desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.

⁶ wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a short time, if need be, made sorrowful by manifold trials, ⁷ that the proof of your faith, much more precious than gold which perisheth, but is tried with fire, may be found unto praise and glory and honor at the manifestation of Jesus Christ;

⁴ at which they are astonished that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you;

⁹ whom resist, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are being accomplished in your brethren in the world.
