¹⁴ He (Jesus Christ) gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify a people for himself, who are special people, zealous for good works.

¹³ »My promise is that he and his descendants will be priests for a very long time because he stood up for his God. He made peace with Jehovah for the Israelites.«

⁶ »You are a holy people to Jehovah your God. Jehovah your God has chosen you to be his own special people out of all the nations of the earth.

² »You are a holy people to Jehovah your God. Out of all the people on the face of the earth Jehovah has chosen you to be a people for His own possession.

¹⁸ »Jehovah declared you to be his people and a treasured possession. Obey his commandments and receive his promise.

⁸ He will save his people Israel from all their sins.

⁴ For Jehovah has chosen Jacob for Himself and Israel for his special treasure (property).

²⁵ »I will sprinkle clean water on you and make you clean instead of unclean. Then I will cleanse you from all your idols.

²³ They will no longer dishonor themselves with their idols, with their detestable things, or with their rebellious acts. I will forgive them for all the times they turned away from me and sinned. I will cleanse them so that they will be my people, and I will be their God.

³ »He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver. He will purify the sons of Levi, and refine them like gold and silver. Then they will offer to Jehovah offerings in righteousness.

¹⁴ For the love of Christ compels us to judge, that one died for all and therefore all died. ¹⁵ He died for all that those who live should no longer live for themselves, but for him who died for their sakes and rose again.

²⁰ I have been impaled with Christ. It is no longer I that live, but Christ lives in me. The life that I now live in the flesh (physical body) I live by faith. This is the faith that is in the Son of God. He loved me and gave himself up for me.

¹³ Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us. It is written; »Cursed is everyone who is hung on a stake.«

¹⁰ For we are his workmanship created with Christ Jesus for good works. God prepared these works in advance that we should walk in them.

² Walk in love, even as Christ also loved you, and gave himself up for us. He was an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling odor.

²³ For the husband is the head of the wife, and Christ also is the head of the congregation, he being the savior of the body. ²⁴ The congregation is subject to Christ. Likewise let the wives also be to their husbands in everything. ²⁵ Husbands love your wives, even as Christ also loved the congregation and gave himself up for it. ²⁶ This is so he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word. ²⁷ So he will be able to present the congregation to himself as a glorious congregation, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing. It should be holy and without blemish.

⁴ He (Jesus) gave himself for our sins that he might deliver us out of this present evil age. This is according to the will of our God and Father.

¹⁸ They should do good works and be rich in good works, that they are ready to distribute, willing to communicate.

¹⁵ Faithful is the saying, and worthy of acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am foremost.

⁶ He gave himself as a ransom for all. A witness was to be given at the right time.

¹⁰ but that which becomes a woman professing godliness through good works.

⁷ Be an example of good works in all things, showing no corruption in your doctrine.

⁸ Faithful is the saying, and concerning these things I desire that you affirm confidently, to the end that they who have believed God may be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men.

¹⁴ The blood of Christ did even more. Through the eternal Spirit he offered himself without blemish to God and cleansed your conscience from dead works. Now we can serve (worship) the living God.

²⁴ Let us consider one another to encourage love and good works:

¹⁸ Know that you were redeemed from your futile way of life inherited from your fathers. [The redemption] was not with corruptible things like silver or gold,

²² You have purified your hearts by obeying the truth. You have genuine affection for the brothers and sisters. So always love one another intensely (extremely) (deeply) from the heart.

⁹ You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and a people for God’s own possession, that you may show the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

¹² Maintain fine behavior among the nations. That way when they speak badly about you, they may see your good works and glorify God in the day of visitation (inspection).

⁸ Draw close to God, and he will draw close to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded (uncertain) (doubter) (skeptic).

¹⁸ Because Christ also suffered for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God. He was put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit.

² Beloved, now we are children of God. It is not yet revealed what we will be. We know that when he is revealed we will be like him. We will see him just as he is.

⁵ And from Jesus Christ, who is the Faithful Witness, and the firstborn from the dead, and the Ruler of the kings of the earth. To the one who loves us and released us from our sins by his blood.

⁹ They sing a new song, saying: »You are worthy to take the book, and to open the seals, for you were slaughtered and by your blood you bought persons for God out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation.
