⁴ Jehovah made all things for himself even the wicked one for the evil day.

⁸ But now, Jehovah, you are our Father. We are the clay, and you are our potter. We are the work of your hands.

³ I went to the potter's house, and he was working there at his wheel. ⁴ When a clay pot he was working on was ruined, he would rework it into a new clay pot the way he wanted to make it. ⁵ Jehovah spoke his word to me. Jehovah asked: ⁶ »Nation of Israel, can I do with you as this potter does with clay?« Nation of Israel, »You are in my hands like the clay in the potter's hands.

²⁸ »This Jehoiakin is like a rejected and broken pot that no one wants. Is that why he and his descendants will be thrown out and cast into another land they have never heard of?

⁸ »Israel is swallowed up. It has already mixed in with the other nations. It has become worthless.

¹⁵ The Lord said to him: »Be on your way. This man is a chosen vessel to bear my name to the people of the nations, and kings and the children of Israel.

²⁰ Now in a large house there are not only gold and silver vessels, but also vessels of wood and of earthenware, and some to honor and some to dishonor. ²¹ If anyone cleanses himself from these things, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work.
