⁸ David asked Jehovah: »Should I pursue these troops? Will I catch up with them?« »Pursue them!« Jehovah told him: »You will certainly catch up with them and rescue the captives.«

¹⁹ David asked Jehovah: »Shall I attack the Philistines? Will you hand them over to me?« Jehovah answered David: »Attack! I will certainly deliver the Philistines to you.« ²⁰ David went to Baal Perazim and defeated the Philistines. He said: »Jehovah has overwhelmed my enemies in front of me like an overwhelming flood.« That is why that place is called Baal Perazim (Master of Breaking Through)

²⁵ David did what Jehovah commanded. He drove the Philistines back from Geba all the way to Gezer.

⁴⁹ He put a rock in his sling and swung the sling around by its straps. When he let go of one strap, the rock flew out and hit Goliath on the forehead. It cracked his skull. He fell facedown on the ground.

² He asked Jehovah: »Shall I go and attack the Philistines?« Jehovah answered: »Yes, Attack them and save Keilah.«

³⁰ »You help me run through armies and leap over city walls.

⁶ I do not rely on my bow, and my sword will never save me. ⁷ You saved us from our adversaries. You put to shame those who hate us.

¹ David: Blessed be my rock (strength) Jehovah. He trained my hands to fight and my fingers to do battle,

¹⁰ You give salvation to kings. You rescue David your servant from the evil sword.

¹⁰ By the divine influence of God I am what I am. His grace was not given to me in vain for I labored more than all of them. Yet it was not I. It was the divine influence and favor of God in me.

⁹ He told me: »My grace is sufficient for you for my strength is made perfect in weakness.« Most gladly therefore, I would rather glory in my infirmities (frailities), that the power of Christ may rest upon me (cover me like a tent) (descend upon me) (abide with me). (Isaiah 40:29-31) ¹⁰ Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then I am strong.

¹⁰ Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in his mighty strength. ¹¹ Put on the full armor (every implement) of God, that you may be able to stand against the cunning (inventive) (clever) methods of the devil. ¹² Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in heavenly places. ¹³ For that reason, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, having done everything, to stand firm.

¹⁵ He disarmed the rulers and authorities! He made a public display of them triumphing over them.
