⁷ »We escaped as a bird out of the trap of fowlers (bird catchers). The trap is broken, and we have escaped.

²¹ After they left, Ahimaaz and Jonathan came up out of the cistern. Then they reported to King David. They told him what Ahithophel planned against him. They said: »Hurry up and cross the river.« ²² So David and his men crossed the Jordan. By daybreak they had all gone across.

¹⁵ My eyes are always on Jehovah. He removes my feet from traps.

³ He is the one who will rescue you from the bird hunter’s trap (fowler’s snare) and from deadly plagues.

⁵ Deliver your self like a deer from the hand of the hunter, and like a bird from the hand of the fowler (bird catcher).

²⁶ »Wicked men are found among my people. They lie in ambush like bird catchers. They set traps and catch men.

²² Let an outcry be heard from their houses when you suddenly bring raiders upon them. For they have dug a pit to capture me and hidden snares for my feet.

²⁶ They should come to their senses out of the snare of the Devil. He has taken them captive and they do his will.
