⁵ Thorns and snares are in the way of the wicked. He who guards his life will stay far away from them.

¹³ »Jehovah your God will no longer drive these nations out as you advance. Rather, they will be as dangerous for you as a trap or a pit and as painful as a whip on your back or thorns in your eyes. This will last until none of you are left in this good land that Jehovah your God gave you.

⁸ »His feet cast him into a net and he wanders into its mesh.

⁶ He rains down fire and burning sulfur upon wicked people. He makes them drink from a cup filled with scorching wind.

²⁶ With pure people you are pure. In dealing with devious people you are clever. ²⁷ You save humble people, but you humiliate the proud.

¹ He who lives under the shelter of the Most High will remain in the shadow of the Almighty.

³ He who keeps his mouth (watches what he says) keeps his life. He who opens wide his lips (speaks thoughtlessly) will have destruction.

¹⁵ Good understanding gives favor. The way of transgressors is hard.

¹⁹ The way of the lazy is as a hedge of thorns. But the way of the righteous is a wide path.

¹⁷ The highway of the upright departs from evil. He who guards his way preserves his life.

¹⁶ He who obeys the commandment saves his life. But he who is careless of his ways will die.

¹⁸ We know that no one who is born of God practices sin. He who was born from God watches over himself, and the evil one does not touch him.

²⁰ You, beloved, build yourself up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit. ²¹ Stay in the love of God! Look (wait) for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ for everlasting life.
