⁴⁰ »The King will answer: ‘To the extent that you did it to one of the least of my brothers, you did it to me.’

¹ One day, David thought: »I wonder if any of Saul’s family is still alive. If they are I will be kind to them. This is because I made a promise to Jonathan.«

³¹ He who oppresses the poor reproaches his Maker. He who honors his Maker has mercy for the poor.

¹⁷ When you help the poor (needy) (lowly) (depressed) you lend to Jehovah. He will pay you back.

⁴ He fell to the earth and heard a voice saying: »Saul, Saul! Why do you persecute me?« ⁵ »Who are you Lord?« He asked. The Lord said: »I am Jesus whom you persecute.

²⁹ Those he first recognized, he ordained in advance that they be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.

⁵ We do not preach about ourselves, but about Christ Jesus as Lord. We are your servants for Jesus' sake.

¹⁴ For the love of Christ compels us to judge, that one died for all and therefore all died. ¹⁵ He died for all that those who live should no longer live for themselves, but for him who died for their sakes and rose again.

⁷ But as you have plenty of everything, in faith, and speech, and knowledge, and in all earnestness, and in your love for us, see that you have plenty of this undeserved kindness also. ⁸ I speak not by way of commandment, but as proving through the earnestness of others the sincerity also of your love. ⁹ For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that you through his poverty might become rich.

²¹ The greeting from me Paul is with my own hand. ²² If any man does not love the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be accursed. Come O Lord!

⁶ For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision means anything, nor uncircumcision, but faith working through love.

¹³ For you brothers, were called for freedom; only do not use your freedom for an occasion to the flesh. Serve one another through love!

²² The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faith,

³⁰ And we are members of his body!

⁹ I do not need to write you about brotherly love. For God taught you to love one another. ¹⁰ Indeed, you do it toward all the brothers in all Macedonia: but we encourage you to increase more and more.

¹¹ Both he who sanctifies and they who are sanctified are all from one. For this reason Jesus is not ashamed to call them »brothers«. ¹² He says: »I will declare your name to my brothers; in the middle of the congregation I will sing praises to you.« ¹³ And again: »I will put my trust in him.« And again: »Behold, the children that Jehovah has given me.« (Isaiah 8:18) ¹⁴ Since the »children« are partakers of flesh and blood, he also took part of the same things, that through death he might destroy him that had the power to cause death, [Satan] the Devil. ¹⁵ And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

¹⁰ For God is not unrighteous (unjust) to forget your work and the love you showed for his name. You ministered to the holy ones and continue to minister.

²² You have purified your hearts by obeying the truth. You have genuine affection for the brothers and sisters. So always love one another intensely (extremely) (deeply) from the heart.

¹⁴ We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. He who does not love abides in death. ¹⁵ Whoever hates his brother is a murderer! You know that no murderer has everlasting life remaining in him. ¹⁶ By this we know love, because he (Jesus) gave his life for us. We ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. ¹⁷ Whoever has this world's goods and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his compassion from him, how does the love of God dwell in him? ¹⁸ My Little children, let us not love in word, neither with the tongue; but in deed and truth. ¹⁹ By this we shall know we are of the truth, and will assure our heart before him.

⁷ Beloved let us love one another, for love is from God. Everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. ⁸ He who does not love does not know God for God is love. ⁹ The love of God was made known through us. God sent his only-begotten Son into the world that we might live through him. ¹⁰ In this is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation (atonement) (sacrificial payment) for our sins. ¹¹ Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. ¹² No one has seen God at any time! If we love one another, God lives with us, and his love is perfected (accomplished) (matured) through us.

²⁰ If a man says, I love God, yet he hates his brother, he is a liar! He who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen.
