⁶ »Lift up your eyes to the heavens. Look at the earth below. The heavens will vanish like smoke and the earth will wear out like a garment. Its inhabitants die like flies (gnats). But my salvation will last forever! My righteousness will never fail.

This is what Jehovah says: ³⁶ »Only if this covenant is removed,« declares Jehovah, »will Israel's descendants stop being a nation in my presence.«

The elements shall be dissolved with intense heat. And the earth and the works in it will be burned up (destroyed). (Joel 2:31) (Zephaniah 1:14) ¹¹ Seeing that these things are thus all to be dissolved (destroyed), what manner of persons should you be in all holy living and godliness? ¹² Look for and earnestly desire the coming presence of the »Day of Jehovah.« (Zephaniah 1:14) The heavens being on fire will be dissolved (destroyed), and the elements will melt with intense heat!
