8 Herod was very happy to see Jesus. He had wanted to see him for a long time. He hoped to see him perform a miracle.

2 Kings 5:3-6

3 She said to her mistress: »I wish my master could go to the prophet who lives in Samaria! He would cure him of his leprosy.« 4 Naaman heard of this and told the king what the girl said. 5 The king said: »Go to the king of Israel and take this letter to him.« Naaman departed. He took thirty thousand pieces of silver, six thousand pieces of gold, and ten changes of fine clothes. 6 The letter stated: »This letter will introduce my officer Naaman. I want you to cure him of his leprosy.«

2 Kings 5:11

11 Naaman left in a rage, saying: »I thought he would at least come out to me, pray to Jehovah his God, wave his hand over the diseased spot, and cure me!

Luke 9:7-9

7 Herod the ruler of Galilee heard of all that was done and was very perplexed (confused) (skeptical). Some said John the Baptist was raised from the dead and that he did it. 8 Others said that Elijah had appeared and others and that one of the old prophets had risen again. 9 Herod said: »I beheaded John, but who is this, about whom I hear such things?« He wanted to see him.

Acts 8:19

19 Simon said: »Give me this power that on whomever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Spirit.«
