²⁵ »Righteous Father, the world has not known you. I know you and those you sent me know you.

²⁸ They did not like to retain God in their knowledge, so God gave them over to a reprobate (depraved) mind, to do things that are not fitting.

²¹ This is the wisdom of God that the world through its wisdom did not come to know God. God was well pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.

²⁶ It showed his righteousness at this present season that he might himself be righteous, and the justifier of he who has faith in Jesus.

⁴ The god of this age (world) (religious, social, political, and economic arrangement) has blinded the minds of unbelievers that the light of the good news of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not shine on them.

³⁴ Wake up to righteousness and do not sin. Some do not have knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.

⁸ However at that time, you did not know God. You were in bondage to things that are really not gods at all. ⁹ Now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how is it that you turn back again to the weak and poor fundamental things? Do you want to slave for them all over again?

⁸ They will render vengeance to those who do not know God, and to those who do not obey the good news of our Lord Jesus.

⁹ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

¹⁹ We know that we are from God, and the whole world lies in the (power of the) (under control of the) evil one. ²⁰ We know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding. We know him that is true for we are in him who is true, [and] in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and everlasting life.
