¹¹ He says in his heart (to himself): »God has forgotten. He has hidden his face. He will never see it!«

⁷ See what pours out of their mouths, swords from their lips! They think: Who will hear us?

¹¹ They ask: How does God know? And is there knowledge with the most High?

⁵ They are determined to do evil, and they tell themselves: Let us set traps! No one can see us.

⁷ They say: Jehovah does not see it. The God of Jacob does not even pay attention to it. ⁸ Pay attention, you stupid (senseless) people! When will you become wise, you fools? ⁹ God created ears. Do you think he cannot hear? He formed eyes. Do you think he cannot see?

¹⁵ You are in for trouble, if you try to hide your plans from Jehovah! You think what you do in the dark cannot be seen. So you ask: »Who sees us, who knows us?«

¹² Then he said: »Son of man, do you see what the elders of the house of Israel are committing in the dark, each man in the room of his carved images? For they say: ‘Jehovah does not see us! Jehovah has forsaken the land!’«

⁹ He answered me: »The wickedness of the nations of Israel and Judah is terrible! The land is filled with murder, and the city is filled with wrongdoing. They think that Jehovah has abandoned the land and that he does not see.

¹² »At that time I will search Jerusalem with lamps. I will punish the men that are satisfied with their wayward lifestyle. They say in their heart, ‘Jehovah will not do good and he will not do evil.’
