² »As long as you live, you, your son, and your grandson must respect Jehovah your God. All of you must obey his laws and commandments I give you. Then you will live a long time.

¹⁹ »I have chosen him, that he may command his children and his household; and that they may remain in the righteous and just way of Jehovah. Jehovah will bring to Abraham what he told him.«

¹² »Do not hurt the boy or harm him in any way!« The angel said. »Now I know that you truly obey God, because you were willing to offer him your only son.«

²⁰ Moses responded: »Do not be afraid. God has only come to test you and to inspire you to obey him, so that you will not sin.«

¹⁰ »Do you remember the day you stood in the presence of Jehovah your God at Mount Sinai (Horeb)? He said to me: ‘assemble the people. I want them to hear what I have to say, so that they will learn to obey me as long as they live. Then they will teach their children to do the same.’

⁷ »Carefully teach them to your sons. Talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way. Speak about them when you lie down, and when you rise up.

¹² »Now, O Israel, what does Jehovah your God require from you? You are to respect Jehovah your God. Walk in all his ways and love him! Serve Jehovah your God with all your heart and with all your being. ¹³ »Obey Jehovah’s commandments and his statutes I am commanding you today for your good!

²⁰ »Respect Jehovah your God and serve him. Hold fast to him and take your oaths in his name.

⁴ »Follow Jehovah and respect him. Obey him and keep his commandments. Worship him and be faithful to him (stick to him) (stay close to him) (cleave, cling to him).

⁴⁰ »You must keep the regulations and commandments I commanded you today. Then all will go well with you and with your children after you. You may prolong your days on the earth that Jehovah your God gives you for all time.«

¹⁶ »‘Honor your father and your mother, as Jehovah your God commands you and your days will be prolonged and things will go well with you, in the land Jehovah gives you.

³³ Follow all the directions Jehovah your God has given you. Then you will continue to live. Life will go well for you! You will live for a long time in the land that you are going to possess.

⁷ »Let the mother go. You may take the young. Let the mother go. May things go well with you and you may prolong your days.

²⁸ »To man he said: ‘Respect for Jehovah is wisdom! To stay away from evil is understanding.’«

⁴ We will not conceal them from their children, but tell to the generation to come the praises of Jehovah, and his strength and his wondrous works that he has done. ⁵ He established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel. This he commanded our fathers that they should teach them to their children, ⁶ That the generation to come might know, the children to be born, that they may arise and tell to their children, ⁷ That they should put their confidence in God and not forget the works of God but keep his commandments. ⁸ They should not be like their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation that did not prepare its heart and whose spirit was not faithful to God.

¹⁰ The respect and reverence for Jehovah is the beginning of wisdom. All who obey his commandments show good sense (insight) and understanding. His praise endures (continues) forever.

¹ Blessed are all who reverence Jehovah and live his way.

¹ My son, do not forget my law. Let your heart obey my commandments. ² My precepts will give you a long, peaceful, and prosperous life.

¹⁶ Long life is in her right hand. In her left hand are riches and honor.

⁶ Sin is atoned by loving kindness and truth. Respect for Jehovah keeps one away from evil.

¹³ Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Respect God, and obey his commandments for this is the whole duty of man.

⁵ »I will show you the one to fear. Fear the one who, after he has killed, has power to destroy you (throw into the ever-burning trash fires of the valley of Hinnom) (Greek: Gehenna). This is one you should fear.

¹⁷ If you call on him as Father, who without respect of persons judges according to each man’s work, pass the time you spend here in reverence.

¹⁰ Whoever would love life and see good days should keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit. ¹¹ Let him turn away from evil, and do good. Let him seek peace, and pursue it.
