1 »Israel, listen to these laws and teachings! If you obey them you will live! Go in and take the land that Jehovah the God of your fathers is giving you.

If you listen to the commandments of Jehovah your God, which I charge you today, to observe them carefully, 14 and do not turn aside from any of the words I command you today, to the right or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.

Jeremiah 11:4

4 »It is the covenant I made with their ancestors when I brought them out of Egypt. Egypt was like an iron smelter (furnace) to them. I told them to obey me and to do everything that I commanded. I told them that if they obeyed, they would be my people and I would be their God.
