¹⁶ From now on we know no man according to the flesh: even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know him so no longer.

⁹ »Who said of his father and mother: ‘I have not seen them; and he did not acknowledge his brothers, nor did he regard his own sons. They observed your word and kept your covenant.’

²⁹ »‘Why do you kick at my sacrifice and my offering, which I have commanded in my house? Do you honor your sons above me, to make yourselves fat with the best of all the offerings of Israel my people?’

⁴⁸ But he answered: »Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?« ⁴⁹ He stretched out his hand towards his disciples, and said: »Behold, my mother and my brothers! ⁵⁰ »For everyone who does the will of my Father who is in heaven is my brother, and sister, and mother.«

³⁷ »He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me. He who loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

³¹ His mother and his brother were standing nearby. They sent for him. ³² A crowd was sitting around him. They said to him: »Look your mother and you brother are outside looking for you.« ³³ He answered them: »Who is my mother and who is my brother?« ³⁴ Looking at the people who sat around him he said: »Behold, my mother and my brother! ³⁵ »For whoever does the will of God, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.«

⁴ Jesus said to her: »Woman what have I to do with you? My hour has not arrived.«

⁶³ »It is the spirit that gives life. The flesh profits nothing. The words that I spoke to you are spirit and life.

¹⁴ »You are my friends if you do the things that I command you.

¹⁸ Seeing that many boast according to the flesh, I will boast also.

⁵ We did not yield to them for a moment or an hour! That way the truth of the good news (the whole body of Christian teachings) might continue with you. ⁶ Those who were recognized as important people did not add a single thing to my message. What sort of people they were makes no difference to me. God does not play favorites (show partiality).

⁶ For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision means anything, nor uncircumcision, but faith working through love.

⁷ Things that offered gain to me I count a loss for Christ. ⁸ I count all things to be loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord. I suffered the loss of all things. Yet I count them as refuse (garbage) (dung) that I may gain Christ.

¹¹ There is no distinction between Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, bondman, freeman; but Christ is all and in all.

²¹ I charge you in the sight of God, and Christ Jesus, and the chosen angels, that you observe these [principles] without prejudice, doing nothing by partiality. ²² Do not lay your hands hastily on any man, neither be a partaker of other men's sins: keep yourself pure.

¹ My brothers, keep the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory. Do not favor one person over the other. ² A man wearing a gold ring and fine clothes and a poor man in shabby clothes comes into your synagogue. ³ You pay special attention to the one wearing the fine clothes, and say: »Sit here in a good place.« Then you say to the poor man: »Stand there,« or »Sit under my footstool.« ⁴ Do not make distinctions among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts.

¹⁷ But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable (yielding), full of mercy and good fruits, without discord (partiality), without hypocrisy.
