⁵ I will destroy anyone who secretly slanders his neighbor. I will not tolerate anyone with a conceited look or arrogant heart.

⁶ When their judges are thrown off a cliff, they will listen to what I have to say. It will sound pleasant to them.

²⁸ A perverse man sows discord. A whisperer separates good friends.

⁴ The evildoer pays attention to false lips. A liar listens attentively to a wicked tongue.

⁸ The words of a talebearer cause wounds. They plunge down to the innermost parts.

²⁰ Without wood the fire goes out. Without a talebearer strife ceases. ²¹ As coals are to burning coals, and wood to fire; so is a contentious man to kindle disputes. ²² The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts.

²⁸ A lying tongue hates those afflicted by it and a flattering mouth works ruin.

¹² If a ruler listens to lies, all his servants are wicked.

²¹ Do not pay attention to everything that is said lest you hear your servant curse you. ²² Often your own heart knows you have also cursed others.

⁶ The tongue is like fire, the place of iniquity among our members. It defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of our life. It is set ablaze like the ever-burning fires in the Valley of Hinnom (Greek: Gehenna: symbolic of total destruction).
