¹ We have heard that which was from the beginning. We have also seen it with our own eyes. We looked at it and touched it with our hands. It is the Word of life. ² The life was made known and we have seen and testify about it. We declare the life to you. It is the eternal life, which was with the Father and was shown to us. ³ We declare to you what we have seen and heard. This way you may have fellowship with us. ² »Truly I know it is so, but how can a man be righteous before God?

²⁷ Jesus said to Thomas: »Put your finger here and look at my hands. Put your hand into my side. Stop doubting and believe!«

¹⁴ This is the third time Jesus was seen by the disciples since he was raised from the dead.

³ He presented himself alive to them after his suffering. He gave many convincing proofs. He appeared to them during forty days speaking about the kingdom of God.
