¹ I tell the truth in Christ. I am not lying, my conscience testifying with me in the Holy Spirit, ² that I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. ³ For I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ for my brothers' sake, my physical relatives according to the flesh, ⁴ who are Israelites; whose is the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service, and the promises; ⁵ of whom are the patriarchs, and from whom is the Christ, as concerning the flesh, who is over all, God, blessed forever. Amen. ⁶ But it is not as though the word of God has come to nothing. For they are not all Israel, that are of Israel. ⁷ Neither, because they are Abraham's descendants, are they all children. But, "In Isaac will your descendants be called." ⁸ That is, it is not the children of the flesh who are children of God, but the children of the promise are counted as descendants. ⁹ For this is what the promise said, "At the appointed time I will come, and Sarah will have a son." ¹⁰ And not only that, but Rebekah also had conceived by one, our father Isaac. ¹¹ For being not yet born, neither having done anything good or bad, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him who calls, ¹² it was said to her, "The elder will serve the younger." ¹³ Even as it is written, "Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated." ¹⁴ What should we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? Absolutely not. ¹⁵ For he said to Moses, "I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion." ¹⁶ So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who has mercy. ¹⁷ For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, "For this very purpose I caused you to be raised up, that I might show in you my power, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth." ¹⁸ So then, he has mercy on whom he desires, and he hardens whom he desires. ¹⁹ You will say then to me, "Why does he still find fault? For who withstands his will?" ²⁰ But who indeed are you, a human being, to reply against God? Will the thing formed ask him who formed it, "Why did you make me like this?" ²¹ Or hasn't the potter a right over the clay, from the same lump to make one part a vessel for honor, and another for dishonor? ²² What if God, willing to show his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much patience vessels of wrath made for destruction, ²³ and that he might make known the riches of his glory on vessels of mercy, which he prepared beforehand for glory, ²⁴ us, whom he also called, not from the Jews only, but also from the non-Jews? ²⁵ As he says also in Hosea, "I will call them which were not my people 'my people,' and her who was not loved, 'loved.'" ²⁶ "It will be that in the place where it was said to them, 'You are not my people,' There they will be called 'children of the living God.'" ²⁷ And Isaiah cries out concerning Israel, "Though the number of the children of Israel are as the sand of the sea, the remnant will be kept safe. ²⁸ For he will fulfill the word and decisively in righteousness; because the Lord will carry out the word decisively on the earth." ²⁹ As Isaiah has said before, "Unless the Lord of hosts had left us a few survivors, we would have become like Sodom, and would have been made like Gomorrah." ³⁰ What should we say then? That the non-Jews, who did not follow after righteousness, attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith; ³¹ but Israel, following after a law of righteousness, did not arrive at that law. ³² Why? Because they did not seek it by faith, but as it were by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone; ³³ even as it is written, "Look, I am laying in Zion a stumbling stone and a rock to trip over; and the one who believes in him will not be put to shame."

⁹ For God is my witness, whom I serve in my spirit in the Good News of his Son, how I constantly mention you

¹⁵ since they show the work of the law written on their hearts, their conscience bearing witness, and their thoughts either accusing or defending them,

¹⁶ The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God;

¹² For our boasting is this: the testimony of our conscience, that with pure motives and sincerity of God, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God we conducted ourselves in the world, and more abundantly toward you.

²³ But I call God as a witness to my soul, that to spare you I did not come again to Corinth.

¹⁰ As the truth of Christ is in me, no one will stop me from this boasting in the regions of Achaia.

³¹ The God and Father of the Lord Jesus, he who is blessed forevermore, knows that I do not lie.

¹⁹ Have you been thinking all this time that we have been defending ourselves before you? In the sight of God we speak in Christ; and all things, beloved, are for your edifying.

²⁰ Now about the things which I write to you, look, before God, I'm not lying.

⁸ For God is my witness, how I long after all of you in the tender mercies of Christ Jesus.

⁵ For neither were we at any time found using words of flattery, as you know, nor with a pretext for greed (God is witness),

⁵ but the goal of this command is love, out of a pure heart and a good conscience and unfeigned faith;

⁷ to which I was appointed a proclaimer and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying), a teacher of the non-Jews in faith and truth.

²¹ I command you in the sight of God, and Christ Jesus, and the chosen angels, that you observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing by partiality.

¹⁹ And by this we will know that we are of the truth, and persuade our heart before him, ²⁰ because if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things. ²¹ Beloved, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God;

³⁵ And Samuel did not see Saul again until the day of his death; for Samuel mourned for Saul. And the LORD grieved that he had made Saul king over Israel.

¹³⁶ Streams of tears run down my eyes, because they do not observe your Law.

¹⁰ "Rejoice with Jerusalem, and be glad for her, all you who love her: rejoice for joy with her, all you who mourn over her;

¹ Oh that my head were waters, and my eyes a spring of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people.

¹⁷ But if you will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret for your pride; and my eye shall weep bitterly, and run down with tears, because the LORD's flock is taken captive."

¹² Is it nothing to you, all you who pass by? Look, and see if there is any sorrow like my sorrow, which is brought on me, with which the LORD has afflicted me in the day of his fierce anger.

⁴⁸ Streams of tears run down from my eyes because of the destruction of the daughter of my people. ⁴⁹ My tears flow and do not cease, without respite,

⁵¹ My eyes bring my soul grief, because of all the daughters of my city.

⁴ The LORD said to him, "Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark on the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry over all the abominations that are done in its midst."

⁴¹ When he drew near, he saw the city and wept over it, ⁴² saying, "If you, even you, had known today the things that make for peace. But now, they are hidden from your eyes. ⁴³ For the days will come on you, when your enemies will throw up a barricade against you, surround you, hem you in on every side, ⁴⁴ and will dash you and your children within you to the ground. They will not leave in you one stone on another, because you did not know the time of your visitation."

¹ Brothers, my heart's desire and my prayer to God is for them, that they may be saved.

¹⁸ For many, of whom I have often told you, and now tell you with tears, live as enemies of the cross of Christ,

³ I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand two hundred sixty days, clothed in sackcloth."

¹⁴ Laban said to him, "Surely you are my bone and my flesh." He lived with him for a month.

³² Yet now, if you will, forgive their sin—and if not, please blot me out of your book which you have written."

²³ his body shall not remain all night on the tree, but you shall surely bury him the same day; for everyone who hangs on a tree is cursed by God; that you do not defile your land which the LORD your God gives you for an inheritance.

¹⁷ The city shall be devoted, even it and all that is in it, to the LORD. Only Rahab the prostitute shall live, she and all who are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent. ¹⁸ But as for you, only keep yourselves from the devoted thing, so as not to covet and take of the devoted thing and make the camp of Israel accursed, and bring trouble on it.

²⁴ And Saul committed a great blunder that day, for he had placed the people under an oath, saying, "Cursed is the man who eats any food until it is evening, and I am avenged of my enemies." So none of the people tasted food.

⁴⁴ Saul said, "God do so and more also; for you shall surely die, Jonathan."

⁶ For how can I endure to see the disaster that would come to my people? How can I endure to see the destruction of my relatives?"

²³ But when he was forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brothers, the children of Israel. ²⁴ Seeing one of them suffer wrong, he defended him, and avenged him who was oppressed, striking the Egyptian. ²⁵ He supposed that his brothers understood that God, by his hand, was giving them deliverance; but they did not understand. ²⁶ "The day following, he appeared to them as they fought, and urged them to be at peace again, saying, 'Men, you are brothers. Why do you wrong one another?'

²⁶ Brothers, children of the stock of Abraham, and those among you who fear God, the word of this salvation is sent out to us.

¹ I ask then, has God rejected his people? Absolutely not. For I also am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.

¹⁴ if by any means I may provoke to jealousy those who are my flesh, and may save some of them.

³ Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by God's Spirit says, "Jesus is accursed." No one can say, "Jesus is Lord," but by the Holy Spirit.

²² If anyone does not love the Lord, a curse be on him. Our Lord, come.

⁸ But even though we, or an angel from heaven, should proclaim to you a "good news" other than that which we preached to you, let him be cursed.

¹⁰ For as many as are of the works of the law are under a curse. For it is written, "Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things that are written in the book of the law, to do them."

¹³ Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us. For it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree,"

¹⁸ On that day God made a covenant with Abram, saying, "To your descendants I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Perath:

² I will make my covenant between me and you, and will multiply you greatly."

⁷ I will establish my covenant between me and you and your descendants after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your descendants after you.

¹⁰ This is my covenant, which you shall keep, between me and you and your descendants after you: Every male among you shall be circumcised.

²⁸ Then he said, "Your name will no longer be called Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with men and have prevailed."

²² You shall tell Pharaoh, 'Thus says the LORD, Israel is my son, my firstborn,

²⁵ It shall happen when you have come to the land which the LORD will give you, according as he has promised, that you shall keep this service.

³ Moses went up to God, and God called to him out of the mountain, saying, "This is what you shall tell the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel: ⁴ 'You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles' wings, and brought you to myself. ⁵ Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice, and keep my covenant, then you shall be my own possession from among all peoples; for all the earth is mine; ⁶ and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation.' These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel."

⁷ He took the book of the covenant and read it in the hearing of the people, and they said, "All that the LORD has spoken will we do, and be obedient." ⁸ Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, "This is the blood of the covenant, which God has commanded you concerning all these words."

²⁷ The LORD said to Moses, "Write you these words: for in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel."

³⁴ Then the cloud covered the Tent of Meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.

⁸⁹ When Moses went into the Tent of Meeting to speak with the LORD, he heard his voice speaking to him from above the mercy seat that was on the ark of the Testimony, from between the two cherubim: and he spoke to him.

⁶ For you are a holy people to the LORD your God: The LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for his own possession, above all peoples who are on the face of the earth.

¹ You are the people of the LORD your God: you shall not cut yourselves, nor make any baldness between your eyes for the dead.

¹ These are the words of the covenant which the LORD commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, besides the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.

¹⁴ Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath,

¹⁶ The LORD said to Moses, "Look, you shall sleep with your fathers; and this people will rise up, and play the prostitute after the strange gods of the land, where they go to be among them, and will forsake me, and break my covenant which I have made with them.

²¹ She named the child Ichabod, saying, "The glory has departed from Israel"; because the ark of God was taken, and because of her father-in-law and her husband. ²² She said, "The glory has departed from Israel; for the ark of God is taken."

¹¹ so that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud; for the glory of the LORD filled the house of the LORD.

¹³ "You came down also on Mount Sinai, and spoke with them from heaven, and gave them right ordinances and true laws, good statutes and commandments, ¹⁴ and made known to them your holy Sabbath, and commanded them commandments, and statutes, and a law, by Moses your servant,

²⁹ Remember them, my God, because they have defiled the priesthood, and the covenant of the priests, and of the Levites.

² So I have seen you in the sanctuary, watching your power and your glory.

¹ [A Psalm by Asaph.] Surely God is good to Israel, to those who are pure in heart.

⁶¹ and delivered his strength into captivity, his glory into the adversary's hand.

³ "I have made a covenant with my chosen one, I have sworn to David, my servant,

³⁴ I will not break my covenant, nor alter what my lips have uttered.

¹⁶ Let your work appear to your servants; your glory to their children.

¹⁹ He shows his word to Jacob; his statutes and his ordinances to Israel.

² He dug it up, gathered out its stones, planted it with the choicest vine, built a tower in its midst, and also cut out a winepress in it. He looked for it to yield grapes, but it yielded wild grapes.

⁸ "But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the offspring of Abraham my friend,

³ "Listen to me, house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, that have been borne from their birth, that have been carried from the womb;

¹⁹ The sun will no longer be your light by day, nor will the moon shine for illumination at night; but the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory.

⁹ They shall come with weeping; and with petitions will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by rivers of waters, in a straight way in which they shall not stumble; for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn.'"

²⁰ Is Ephraim my dear son? Is he a darling child? For as often as I speak against him, I do earnestly remember him still: therefore my heart yearns for him; I will surely have mercy on him," says the LORD.

³³ "But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days," says the LORD: "I will put my law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people:

²⁰ "Thus says the LORD: 'If you can break my covenant of the day, and my covenant of the night, so that there shall not be day and night in their season; ²¹ then may also my covenant be broken with David my servant, that he shall not have a son to reign on his throne; and with the Levites the priests, my ministers. ²² As the host of heaven can't be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured; so will I multiply the offspring of David my servant, and the Levites who minister to me.'" ²³ The word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, saying, ²⁴ "Do not consider what this people has spoken, saying, 'The two families which the LORD chose, he has cast them off?' Thus do they despise my people, that they should be no more a nation before them. ²⁵ Thus says the LORD: 'If my covenant of day and night fails, if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth;

¹¹ I gave them my statutes, and showed them my ordinances, which if a man does, he shall live in them. ¹² Moreover also I gave them my Sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD who sanctifies them.

¹ "When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son.

³³ "Hear another parable. There was a landowner who planted a vineyard, set a hedge about it, dug a winepress in it, built a tower, leased it out to tenant farmers, and went on a journey.

⁵⁴ He has given help to Israel, his servant, that he might remember mercy, ⁵⁵ As he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and his offspring forever."

⁶⁹ and has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David ⁷⁰ (as he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets who have been from of old), ⁷¹ salvation from our enemies, and from the hand of all who hate us; ⁷² to show mercy towards our fathers, to remember his holy covenant, ⁷³ the oath which he spoke to Abraham, our father, ⁷⁴ to grant to us that we, being delivered out of the hand of our enemies, should serve him without fear, ⁷⁵ In holiness and righteousness before him all our days.

¹⁷ For the Law was given through Moses, grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

⁴⁷ Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and said about him, "Look, a true Israelite in whom there is no deceit."

³⁹ For to you is the promise, and to your children, and to all who are far off, even as many as the Lord our God will call to himself."

²⁵ You are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, 'And through your offspring all the families of the earth will be blessed.' ²⁶ God, having raised up his Servant, sent him to you first, to bless you, in turning away everyone of you from your wickedness."

³² We bring you good news of the promise made to the fathers, ³³ that God has fulfilled for us, their children, in that he raised up Jesus. As it is also written in the second psalm, 'You are my Son. Today I have become your Father.'

² Much in every way. Because first of all, they were entrusted with the oracles of God.

¹⁵ For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, "Abba. Father."

⁶ But it is not as though the word of God has come to nothing. For they are not all Israel, that are of Israel.

¹² that you were at that time separate from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of the promise, having no hope and without God in the world.

¹³ For when God made a promise to Abraham, since he could swear by none greater, he swore by himself, ¹⁴ saying, "I will indeed bless you, and I will greatly multiply you." ¹⁵ Thus, having patiently endured, he obtained the promise. ¹⁶ For people swear oaths by something greater, and in every dispute of theirs the oath is final for confirmation. ¹⁷ In this way God, being determined to show more abundantly to the heirs of the promise the immutability of his counsel, interposed with an oath;

⁶ But now he has obtained a more excellent ministry, by so much as he is also the mediator of a better covenant, which on better promises has been given as Law. ⁷ For if that first had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second. ⁸ For finding fault with them, he said, "Look, the days are coming," says the Lord, "when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah; ⁹ not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers, in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; for they did not continue in my covenant, and I disregarded them," says the Lord. ¹⁰ "For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel. After those days," says the Lord; "I will put my laws into their mind, I will also write them on their heart. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

¹ Now indeed even the first had ordinances of divine service, and an earthly sanctuary.

³ After the second curtain was the tabernacle which is called the Holy of Holies,

¹⁰ but deal only with foods and drinks and various washings; they are regulations for the flesh imposed until the time of setting things right.

³ And I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse those who treat you with contempt, and through you all the families of the earth will be blessed."

¹⁰ The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the rulerʼs staff from between his feet, until he comes to whom it belongs. And it is he whom the peoples will obey.

¹⁵ Only the LORD had a delight in your fathers to love them, and he chose their descendants after them, even you above all peoples, as at this day.

¹⁵ 'Cursed is the man who makes an engraved or molten image, an abomination to the LORD, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and sets it up in secret.' All the people shall answer and say, 'Amen.' ¹⁶ 'Cursed is he who sets light by his father or his mother.' All the people shall say, 'Amen.' ¹⁷ 'Cursed is he who removes his neighbor's landmark.' All the people shall say, 'Amen.' ¹⁸ 'Cursed is he who makes the blind to wander out of the way.' All the people shall say, 'Amen.' ¹⁹ 'Cursed is he who wrests the justice due the foreigner, fatherless, and widow.' All the people shall say, 'Amen.' ²⁰ 'Cursed is he who lies with his father's wife, because he has uncovered his father's skirt.' All the people shall say, 'Amen.' ²¹ 'Cursed is he who lies with any kind of animal.' All the people shall say, 'Amen.' ²² 'Cursed is he who lies with his sister, the daughter of his father, or the daughter of his mother.' All the people shall say, 'Amen.' ²³ 'Cursed is he who lies with his mother-in-law.' All the people shall say, 'Amen.' ²⁴ 'Cursed is he who strikes his neighbor in secret.' All the people shall say, 'Amen.' ²⁵ 'Cursed is he who takes a bribe to kill an innocent person.' All the people shall say, 'Amen.' ²⁶ 'Cursed is he who doesn't confirm all the words of this law to do them.' All the people shall say, 'Amen.'"

³⁶ Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king, and said, "Amen. May the LORD, the God of my lord the king, say so.

³⁶ Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. And all the people said, "Amen," and praised the LORD.

¹³ Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting and to everlasting. Amen and amen.

⁶ Your throne, God, is forever and ever. A scepter of equity is the scepter of your kingdom.

¹⁹ Blessed be his glorious name forever. Let the whole earth be filled with his glory. Amen and amen.

⁵² Blessed be the LORD forevermore. Amen, and Amen.

¹⁹ The LORD has established his throne in the heavens. His kingdom rules over all.

⁴⁸ Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. And let all the people say, "Amen." Praise the LORD.

¹⁴ Therefore the LORD himself will give you a sign. Look, the virgin will conceive, and bear a son, and they will call his name Immanuel.

⁶ For to us a child is born. To us a son is given; and the government will be on his shoulders, and his name is called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. ⁷ Of the increase of his government and of peace there shall be no end, on the throne of David, and on his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from that time on, even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

¹ A branch will come out of the stock of Jesse, and a shoot out of his roots will bear fruit.

⁵ "Look, the days come," says the LORD, "that I will raise to David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. ⁶ In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely; and this is his name by which he shall be called: 'The LORD our righteousness.'

⁶ even the prophet Jeremiah said, "Amen: LORD do so; the LORD perform your words which you have prophesied, to bring back the vessels of the LORD's house, and all them of the captivity, from Babylon to this place.

² But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, being small among the clans of Judah, out of you one will come forth to me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting.

¹³ And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.'

²⁰ teaching them to obey all things that I commanded you. And look, I am with you every day, even to the end of the age."

²³ When he began, Jesus was about thirty years old, being the son, as was supposed, of Joseph, of Eli, ²⁴ of Mattat, of Levi, of Melchi, of Jannai, of Joseph, ²⁵ of Mattithiah, of Amos, of Nahum, of Hesli, of Naggai, ²⁶ of Mahath, of Mattithiah, of Shimei, of Joseph, of Judah, ²⁷ of Johanan, of Rhesa, of Zerubbabel, of Shealtiel, of Neri, ²⁸ of Melchi, of Addi, of Cosam, of Elmodam, of Er, ²⁹ of Josi, of Eliezer, of Jorim, of Mattat, of Levi, ³⁰ of Simeon, of Judah, of Joseph, of Jehonan, of Eliakim, ³¹ of Maleah, of Menan, of Mattattah, of Nathan, of David, ³² of Jesse, of Obed, of Boaz, of Salmon, of Nahshon, ³³ of Amminadab, of Ram, of Hezron, of Perez, of Judah, ³⁴ of Jacob, of Isaac, of Abraham, of Terah, of Nahor, ³⁵ of Serug, of Reu, of Peleg, of Eber, of Shelah, ³⁶ of Kenan, of Arpachshad, of Shem, of Noah, of Lamech, ³⁷ of Methuselah, of Hanoch, of Jared, of Mahalalel, of Kenan, ³⁸ of Enosh, of Seth, of Adam, of God.

¹ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ² He was in the beginning with God. ³ All things were made through him, and apart from him nothing was made that has been made.

³⁰ I and the Father are one."

²⁸ Watch out for yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which he purchased with his own blood.

³ concerning his Son, who was born of the offspring of David according to the flesh,

²⁵ who exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creation rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

¹² For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord of all is rich to all who call on him.

²⁸ Concerning the Good News, they are enemies for your sake. But concerning the election, they are loved for the fathers' sake.

¹⁶ Otherwise if you bless with the spirit, how will he who fills the place of the unlearned say the "Amen" at your giving of thanks, seeing he does not know what you say?

⁶ who, existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God a thing to be grasped, ⁷ but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men. ⁸ And being found in human form, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to death, yes, the death of the cross. ⁹ Therefore God also highly exalted him, and gave to him the name which is above every name; ¹⁰ that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth, ¹¹ and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

¹⁶ For by him all things were created, in the heavens and on the earth, things visible and things invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities; all things have been created by him and for him. ¹⁷ He is before all things, and in him all things are held together. ¹⁸ He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. ¹⁹ For all the fullness was pleased to dwell in him,

¹⁶ Without controversy, the mystery of godliness is great: He was revealed in the flesh, justified by the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among the nations, believed on in the world, and received up in glory.

¹⁵ which in its own times he will show, who is the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;

⁸ Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, a descendant of David, according to my Good News,

⁸ But of the Son he says, "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, and the righteous scepter is the scepter of your Kingdom. ⁹ You have loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness above your companions." ¹⁰ And, "In the beginning, Lord, you established the foundation of the earth. The heavens are the works of your hands. ¹¹ They will perish, but you remain; and they will all wear out like a garment. ¹² As a cloak, you will roll them up, and like a garment they will be changed. But you remain the same, and your years will have no end." ¹³ But which of the angels has he told at any time, "Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies the footstool of your feet?"

²⁰ We know that the Son of God has come, and has given us an understanding, that we know him who is true, and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.

¹⁸ and the Living one. I was dead, but look, I am alive forevermore. I have the keys of Death and of hell.

¹⁴ The four living creatures were saying, "Amen." The elders fell down and worshiped.

¹⁶ I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify these things to you for the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David; the bright morning star."

²⁰ He who testifies these things says, "Yes, I come quickly." Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.

¹⁹ God is not a man, that he should lie, nor the son of man, that he should repent. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not make it good?

¹¹ so shall my word be that goes forth out of my mouth: it shall not return to me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing I sent it to do.

³⁵ Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

³⁵ If he called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken),

²⁸ For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, neither is that circumcision which is outward in the flesh; ²⁹ but he is a Jew who is one inwardly, and circumcision is that of the heart, by the Spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from people, but from God.

³ For what if some were without faith? Will their lack of faith nullify the faithfulness of God?

¹² The father of circumcision to those who not only are of the circumcision, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had in uncircumcision. ¹³ For the promise to Abraham and to his descendants that he should be heir of the world was not through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. ¹⁴ For if those who are of the law are heirs, faith is made void, and the promise is made of no effect. ¹⁵ For the law works wrath, for where there is no law, neither is there disobedience. ¹⁶ For this cause it is of faith, that it may be according to grace, to the end that the promise may be sure to all the descendants, not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all.

¹ I ask then, has God rejected his people? Absolutely not. For I also am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. ² God did not reject his people, which he foreknew. Or do you not know what the Scripture says about Elijah? How he pleads with God against Israel:

¹⁶ As many as walk by this rule, peace and mercy be on them, and on God's Israel.

¹³ If we are faithless, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny himself."

¹⁷ In this way God, being determined to show more abundantly to the heirs of the promise the immutability of his counsel, interposed with an oath; ¹⁸ that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we may have a strong encouragement, who have fled for refuge to take hold of the hope set before us.

¹² God said to Abraham, "Do not let it be grievous in your sight because of the boy, and because of your slave woman. In all that Sarah says to you, listen to her voice. For from Isaac will your descendants be called.

⁸ Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and do not begin to say among yourselves, 'We have Abraham for our father;' for I tell you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones.

²⁴ He called out and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue. For I am in anguish in this flame.' ²⁵ "But Abraham said, 'Son, remember that you, in your lifetime, received your good things, and Lazarus, in like manner, bad things. But now here he is comforted and you are in anguish.

³⁰ "He said, 'No, father Abraham, but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.'

³³ They answered him, "We are Abraham's descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can you say, 'You will be made free?'"

³⁷ I know that you are Abraham's descendants, yet you seek to kill me, because my word finds no place in you. ³⁸ I say the things which I have seen with my Father; and you also do the things which you have heard from your father." ³⁹ They answered him, "Our father is Abraham." Jesus said to them, "If you were Abraham's children, you would do the works of Abraham.

²³ However, the son by the slave woman was born according to the flesh, but the son by the free woman was born through promise.

³ For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh;

¹⁸ even he to whom it was said, "In Isaac will your descendants be called;"

¹⁵ Arenʼt we regarded by him as foreigners? For he has sold us, and he has used up what was paid for us.

³⁰ Posterity shall serve him. Future generations shall be told about the Lord.

⁶ The LORD will count, when he writes up the peoples, "This one was born there." Selah.

¹³ who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

¹¹ He received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had while he was in uncircumcision, so that he might be the father of all those who believe, though they be in uncircumcision, that righteousness might also be credited to them.

¹⁴ For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are children of God.

²⁶ For you are all children of God, through faith in Christ Jesus. ²⁷ For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. ²⁸ There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. ²⁹ If you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring and heirs according to promise.

²² For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the slave woman, and one by the free woman. ²³ However, the son by the slave woman was born according to the flesh, but the son by the free woman was born through promise. ²⁴ These things contain an allegory, for these are two covenants. One is from Mount Sinai, bearing children to slavery, which is Hagar. ²⁵ For this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and represents Jerusalem that exists now, for she is in slavery with her children. ²⁶ But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother. ²⁷ For it is written, "Rejoice, you barren who do not bear. Break forth and shout, you that do not travail. For more are the children of the desolate than of her who has a husband." ²⁸ Now you, brothers, as Isaac was, are children of promise. ²⁹ But as then, he who was born according to the flesh persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, so also it is now. ³⁰ However what does the Scripture say? "Cast out the slave woman and her son, for the son of the slave woman will not inherit with the son of the free woman." ³¹ So then, brothers, we are not children of a handmaid, but of the free woman.

¹ See what kind of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God; and we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know him. ² Beloved, now we are children of God, and it is not yet revealed what we will be. We know that, when he is revealed, we will be like him; for we will see him just as he is.

²¹ But my covenant I establish with Isaac, whom Sarah will bear to you at this set time next year."

¹⁰ Then he said, "I will certainly return to you at the time of life. Look, Sarah your wife will have a son." Sarah heard from the entrance of the tent, which was behind him.

¹⁴ Is anything too difficult for God? At the set time I will return to you, at the time of life, and Sarah will have a son."

² Sarah conceived, and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.

¹¹ By faith, even barren Sarah herself received power to conceive when she was past age, and gave birth, since she considered him faithful who had promised. ¹² Therefore as many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as innumerable as the sand which is by the sea shore, were fathered by one man, and him as good as dead.

¹⁷ By faith, Abraham, being tested, offered up Isaac; and he who had gladly received the promises was offering up his one and only son;

²¹ Isaac prayed for his wife, because she was barren. And God was moved by his prayer, and Rebekah his wife conceived. ²² The children struggled together within her. She said, "If all is well, why am I like this?" She went to inquire of God. ²³ And he said to her, "Two nations are in your womb. Two peoples will be separated from your body. The one people will be stronger than the other people. The elder will serve the younger."

²⁶ Besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, that those who want to pass from here to you are not able, and that none may cross over from there to us.'

³ Not only this, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering works perseverance;

¹¹ Not only so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

⁵ Look, I was brought forth in iniquity. In sin my mother conceived me.

²⁴ The LORD of hosts has sworn, saying, "Surely, as I have thought, so shall it happen; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand:

²⁶ This is the plan that is determined for the whole earth. This is the hand that is stretched out over all the nations. ²⁷ For the LORD of hosts has planned, and who can stop it? His hand is stretched out, and who can turn it back?"

⁹ The LORD of hosts has planned it, to defile all the pride of glory, to shame all the honored of the earth.

¹⁰ declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done; saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure; ¹¹ calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man of my counsel from a far country; yes, I have spoken, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed, I will also do it.

²⁹ The land trembles and is in pain; for the purposes of the LORD against Babylon do stand, to make the land of Babylon a desolation, without inhabitant.

¹⁷ As it is written, "I have made you a father of many nations." This is in the presence of him whom he believed: God, who gives life to the dead, and calls the things that are not, as though they were.

²⁸ And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. ²⁹ For whom he foreknew, he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. ³⁰ Whom he predestined, those he also called. Whom he called, those he also justified. Whom he justified, those he also glorified.

⁵ Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace. ⁶ And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. ⁷ What then? That which Israel seeks for, that he did not obtain, but the chosen ones obtained it, and the rest were hardened.

⁴ even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and without blemish before him in love; ⁵ having predestined us for adoption as children through Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his desire,

⁹ making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he purposed in him ¹⁰ to an administration of the fullness of the times, to sum up all things in Christ, the things in the heavens, and the things on the earth, in him; ¹¹ in whom also we were assigned an inheritance, having been foreordained according to the purpose of him who works all things after the counsel of his will;

³ among whom we also all once lived in the lust of our flesh, doing the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.

⁹ not of works, that no one would boast.

¹¹ according to the purpose of the ages which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord;

⁴ We know, brothers loved by God, that you are chosen,

¹² we exhorted, comforted, and implored every one of you to lead a life worthy of God, who calls you into his own Kingdom and glory. ¹³ But we are bound to always give thanks to God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because God chose you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief in the truth; ¹⁴ to which he called you through our Good News, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

⁹ who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began,

⁵ not by works of righteousness, which we did ourselves, but according to his mercy, he saved us, through the washing of rebirth and renewing by the Holy Spirit,

¹⁰ And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen and establish you.

¹⁰ Therefore, brothers, be more diligent to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never stumble.

¹⁴ These will war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings. They also will overcome who are with him, called and chosen and faithful."

¹⁴ And he put a garrison in Edom, and all the Edomites became servants to David. The LORD gave victory to David wherever he went.

⁴⁷ There was no king in Edom: a deputy was king.

³¹ The LORD saw that Leah was unloved, so he made her fertile, but Rachel was barren.

³³ She conceived again, and bore a son, and said, "Because God has heard that I am unloved, he has therefore given me this son also." So she named him Simeon.

¹⁵ If a man has two wives, the one loved, and the other unloved, and they have borne him children, both the loved and the unloved; and if the firstborn son is hers who was unloved;

²⁴ One who spares the rod hates his son, but one who loves him is careful to discipline him.

² "I have loved you," says the LORD. Yet you say, "How have you loved us?" "Wasn't Esau Jacob's brother?" says the LORD, "Yet I loved Jacob; ³ but Esau I hated, and made his mountains a desolation, and gave his heritage to the jackals of the wilderness."

³⁷ Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

²⁶ "If anyone comes to me, and does not hate his own father, mother, wife, children, brothers, and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.

²⁵ He who loves his life loses it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it to everlasting life.

²⁵ Be it far from you to do things like that, to kill the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous should be like the wicked. May that be far from you. Shouldn't the Judge of all the earth do right?"

⁴ The Rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are justice. A faithful God and without iniquity, just and right is he.

⁷ Now therefore let the fear of the LORD be on you. Take heed and do it: for there is no iniquity with the LORD our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of bribes."

³ Does God pervert justice? Or does Shaddai pervert righteousness?

¹⁰ "Therefore listen to me, you men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness, from Shaddai, that he should commit iniquity. ¹¹ For the work of a man he will render to him, and cause every man to find according to his ways. ¹² Yes surely, God will not do wickedly, neither will Shaddai pervert justice.

¹⁸ Who says to a king, 'Vile.' or to nobles, 'Wicked.'? ¹⁹ Who doesn't respect the persons of princes, nor regards the rich more than the poor; for they all are the work of his hands.

² "Do you think this to be your right, or do you say, 'My righteousness is more than God's,'

¹⁵ to show that the LORD is upright. He is my Rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.

¹⁷ The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and faithful in all his deeds.

¹ You are righteous, LORD, when I contend with you; yet I would reason the cause with you: why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why are they all at ease who deal very treacherously?

⁵ But according to your hardness and unrepentant heart you are storing up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;

¹ Then what advantage does the Jew have? Or what is the profit of circumcision?

⁵ But if our unrighteousness commends the righteousness of God, what will we say? Is God unrighteous who inflicts wrath? (I am speaking in human terms). ⁶ Absolutely not. For then how will God judge the world?

³ They sang the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, "Great and marvelous are your works, Lord God of hosts. Righteous and true are your ways, King of the nations. ⁴ Who would not fear you, Lord, and glorify your name? For you only are holy. For all the nations will come and worship before you. For your righteous acts have been revealed."

⁷ I heard the altar saying, "Yes, Lord God of hosts, true and righteous are your judgments."

¹⁹ He said, "I will make all my goodness pass before you, and will proclaim the name of the LORD before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy."

⁶ The LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, "The LORD, the LORD, a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness and truth, ⁷ keeping loving kindness for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin; and that will by no means clear [the guilty], visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, and upon the children's children, upon the third and upon the fourth [generation]."

¹¹ When its boughs are withered, they will be broken off. The women will come and set them on fire, for they are a people of no understanding. Therefore he who made them will not have compassion on them, and he who formed them will show them no favor.

¹⁸ Who is a God like you, who pardons iniquity, and passes over the disobedience of the remnant of his heritage? He doesn't retain his anger forever, because he delights in loving kindness.

¹⁶ So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who has mercy.

¹⁸ So then, he has mercy on whom he desires, and he hardens whom he desires. ¹⁹ You will say then to me, "Why does he still find fault? For who withstands his will?"

¹ It happened, that when Isaac was old, and his eyesight was failing so that he could not see, he called Esau his elder son, and said to him, "My son?" He said to him, "Here I am." ² He said, "Look, I am old now. I do not know the day of my death. ³ Now therefore, please take your weapons, your quiver and your bow, and go out to the field, and hunt down a wild animal for me. ⁴ Make me the tasty food that I love and bring it to me to eat, so that I may bless you before I die."

⁹ Go now to the flock, and get me from there two choice young goats. I will prepare them in a tasty way for your father, the way he likes it. ¹⁰ You shall bring it to your father, that he may eat, so that he may bless you before his death." ¹¹ Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, "Look, Esau my brother is a hairy man, and I am a smooth man. ¹² What if my father touches me? I will seem to him as a deceiver, and I would bring a curse on myself, and not a blessing." ¹³ His mother said to him, "Let your curse be on me, my son. Only obey my voice, and go get them for me." ¹⁴ He went, and got them, and brought them to his mother. His mother prepared some tasty food, just the way his father liked it.

³ Your people offer themselves willingly on the day of your power. On the holy mountains at sunrise the dew of your youth will be yours.

¹ "I have shown myself to those who did not ask for me. I was found by those who did not seek me. I said, 'Here I am. Here I am.' to a nation that did not call on my name.

²⁵ At that time, Jesus answered, "I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you hid these things from the wise and intelligent, and revealed them to little children. ²⁶ Yes, Father, for so it was well-pleasing in your sight.

²¹ In that same hour he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit, and said, "I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for so it was well-pleasing in your sight."

¹² But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become God's children, to those who believe in his name, ¹³ who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

⁸ The wind blows where it wants to, and you hear its sound, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit."

¹¹ For being not yet born, neither having done anything good or bad, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him who calls,

²⁶ For consider your calling, brothers, that not many were wise from a human perspective, not many mighty, not many of noble birth. ²⁷ But God chose the foolish of the world to shame the wise. And God chose the weak of the world to shame the strong. ²⁸ And God chose the lowly of the world, and the despised, what is considered to be nothing, to bring to nothing what is considered to be something, ²⁹ that no flesh might boast before God. ³⁰ And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification and redemption, ³¹ so that, as it is written, "Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord."

⁴ But God, being rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us, ⁵ even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),

⁸ for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,

¹³ For it is God who works in you both to will and to work, for his good pleasure.

³ For we were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. ⁴ But when the kindness of God our Savior and his love toward humankind appeared, ⁵ not by works of righteousness, which we did ourselves, but according to his mercy, he saved us, through the washing of rebirth and renewing by the Holy Spirit,

¹⁸ Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures.

⁹ But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light: ¹⁰ who once were not a people, but now are God's people, who had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

¹⁶ but indeed for this purpose I have raised you up, to show you my power, and that my name may be proclaimed in all the earth;

¹ The LORD said to Moses, "Go in to Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart, and the heart of his servants, that I may show these my signs in the midst of them, ² and that you may tell in the hearing of your son, and of your son's son, what things I have done to Egypt, and my signs which I have done among them; that you may know that I am the LORD."

¹⁷ And as for me, look, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall go in after them: and I will get myself honor over Pharaoh, and over all his armies, over his chariots, and over his horsemen. ¹⁸ The Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I have gotten myself honor over Pharaoh, over his chariots, and over his horsemen."

¹⁴ The peoples have heard. They tremble. Pangs have taken hold on the inhabitants of Philistia. ¹⁵ Then the chiefs of Edom were dismayed. Trembling takes hold of the leaders of Moab. All the inhabitants of Canaan have melted away.

¹⁰ Jethro said, "Blessed be the LORD, who has delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of Pharaoh; who has delivered the people from under the hand of the Egyptians. ¹¹ Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods because of the thing in which they dealt arrogantly against them."

⁹ and she said to the men, "I know that the LORD has given you the land, and that the fear of you has fallen on us, and that all the inhabitants of the land melt away before you. ¹⁰ For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Sea at the End before you, when you came out of Egypt; and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites, who were beyond the Jordan, to Sihon and to Og, whom you utterly destroyed.

⁹ They said to him, "Your servants have come from a very far country because of the name of the LORD your God; for we have heard of his fame, all that he did in Egypt,

⁷ The LORD makes poor, and makes rich. He brings low, he also lifts up. ⁸ He raises up the poor out of the dust. He lifts up the needy from the dunghill, To make them sit with princes, and inherit the throne of glory. For the pillars of the earth are the LORD's. He has set the world on them.

⁸ Woe to us. Who shall deliver us out of the hand of these mighty gods? These are the gods that struck the Egyptians with all kinds of plagues in the wilderness.

¹⁴ For if you remain silent now, then relief and deliverance will come to the Jews from another place, but you and your father's house will perish. Who knows if you haven't come to the kingdom for such a time as this?"

¹⁷ Let them be disappointed and dismayed forever. Yes, let them be confounded and perish; ¹⁸ that they may know that you alone, whose name is the LORD, are the Most High over all the earth.

⁴ The LORD has made everything for its own end—yes, even the wicked for the day of evil.

⁵ Alas Assyrian, the rod of my anger, the staff in whose hand is my indignation. ⁶ I will send him against a profane nation, and against the people who anger me will I give him a command to take the spoil and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.

²⁰ Now therefore, LORD our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you are the LORD, even you only."

¹ Thus says the LORD to his anointed, to Koresh, whose right hand I have held, to subdue nations before him, and strip kings of their armor; to open the doors before him, and the gates shall not be shut: ² "I will go before you, and make the mountains level. I will break the doors of bronze in pieces, and cut apart the bars of iron. ³ I will give you the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that you may know that it is I, the LORD, who call you by your name, even the God of Israel.

⁶ Now have I given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant; and the animals of the field also have I given him to serve him. ⁷ All the nations shall serve him, and his son, and his son's son, until the time of his own land come: and then many nations and great kings shall make him their bondservant.

²² It is you, O king, that are grown and become strong; for your greatness is grown, and reaches to the sky, and your dominion to the most distant part of the earth.

¹⁸ You king, the Most High God gave Nebuchadnezzar your father the kingdom, and greatness, and glory, and majesty. ¹⁹ And because of the greatness that he gave him, all the peoples, nations, and languages trembled and feared before him. Whom he would he killed, and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he raised up, and whom he would he put down. ²⁰ But when his heart was lifted up, and his spirit was hardened so that he dealt proudly, he was removed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him. ²¹ And he was driven from the sons of men, and his mind was made like the animals', and his dwelling was with the wild donkeys. He was fed with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of the sky; until he knew that the Most High God rules in the kingdom of men, and that he sets up over it whomever he wants.

²⁶ I made known to them your name, and will make it known; that the love with which you loved me may be in them, and I in them."

⁴ But how does God answer him? "I have kept for myself seven thousand people, who have not bowed the knee to Baal."

⁸ The Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the non-Jews by faith, preached the Good News beforehand to Abraham, saying, "Through you all the nations will be blessed."

²² But the Scriptures imprisoned all things under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.

³⁰ However what does the Scripture say? "Cast out the slave woman and her son, for the son of the slave woman will not inherit with the son of the free woman."

²¹ The LORD said to Moses, "When you go back into Egypt, see that you do before Pharaoh all the wonders which I have put in your hand, but I will harden his heart and he will not let the people go.

¹³ Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he did not listen to them; as the LORD had spoken.

³⁰ But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him; for the LORD your God hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into your hand, as at this day.

²⁰ For it was of the LORD to harden their hearts, to come against Israel in battle, that he might utterly destroy them, that they might have no favor, but that he might destroy them, as the LORD commanded Moses.

¹⁷ O LORD, why do you make us to stray from your ways, and harden our heart from your fear? Return for your servants' sake, the tribes of your inheritance.

¹⁴ And in them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled, which says, 'In hearing you will hear, but will not understand, and seeing you will see, but not perceive. ¹⁵ For the heart of this people has grown dull, and their ears are sluggish in hearing, and they have closed their eyes, otherwise they might see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and turn back, and I would heal them.'

²⁶ saying, 'Go to this people, and say, in hearing, you will hear, but will in no way understand. In seeing, you will see, but will in no way perceive. ²⁷ For this people's heart has grown callous. Their ears are dull of hearing. Their eyes they have closed. Lest they should see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their heart, and would turn again, and I would heal them.' ²⁸ "Be it known therefore to you, that the salvation of God is sent to the nations. They will also listen."

²⁴ Therefore God also abandoned them in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the degrading of their bodies among themselves, ²⁵ who exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creation rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. ²⁶ For this reason, God abandoned them to their degrading passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for that which is contrary to nature. ²⁷ Likewise also the men, giving up natural relations with women, burned in their lust toward one another, men with men, committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the due penalty of their error. ²⁸ Even as they refused to have God in their knowledge, God abandoned them to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not right;

²⁰ The law came in besides, that the trespass might abound; but where sin abounded, grace abounded more exceedingly; ²¹ that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to everlasting life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

¹⁵ For he said to Moses, "I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion." ¹⁶ So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who has mercy.

⁷ What then? That which Israel seeks for, that he did not obtain, but the chosen ones obtained it, and the rest were hardened. ⁸ According as it is written, God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear, to this very day.

⁶ to the praise of the glory of his grace, which he freely bestowed on us in the Beloved One,

¹⁰ and with all deception of wickedness for those who are perishing, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. ¹¹ And because of this, God sends them a strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, ¹² in order that all might be judged who did not believe the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

²⁰ As for you, you meant evil against me, but God turned it into good in order to bring about this present result, to save the lives of many people.

⁶ and he said, "O LORD, the God of our fathers, aren't you God in heaven? Aren't you ruler over all the kingdoms of the nations? Power and might are in your hand, so that no one is able to withstand you.

¹² Look, he snatches away. Who can hinder him? Who will ask him, 'What are you doing?' ¹³ "God will not withdraw his anger. The helpers of Rahab stoop under him. ¹⁴ How much less shall I answer him, And choose my words to argue with him? ¹⁵ Though I were righteous, yet I wouldn't answer him. I would make petition to my judge.

¹⁹ If it is a matter of strength, look, he is mighty. And if of justice, who will summon him?

¹³ But he stands alone, and who can oppose him? What his soul desires, even that he does. ¹⁴ For he performs that which is appointed for me. Many such things are with him.

¹⁰ Surely the wrath of man praises you. The survivors of your wrath are restrained.

⁶ I will send him against a profane nation, and against the people who anger me will I give him a command to take the spoil and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets. ⁷ However he doesn't mean so, neither does his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy, and to cut off not a few nations.

³⁵ All the inhabitants of the earth are regarded as nothing; and he does according to his will in the host of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay his hand, or tell him, "What have you done?"

²¹ For the Son of Man goes, even as it is written about him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed. It would be better for that man if he had not been born."

²³ him, being delivered up by the determined counsel and foreknowledge of God, by the hand of lawless men, crucified and killed;

²⁷ "For truly, in this city against your holy servant, Jesus, whom you anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the non-Jews and the people of Israel, were gathered together ²⁸ to do whatever your hand and your council foreordained to happen.

⁵ But if our unrighteousness commends the righteousness of God, what will we say? Is God unrighteous who inflicts wrath? (I am speaking in human terms). ⁶ Absolutely not. For then how will God judge the world? ⁷ For if the truth of God through my lie abounded to his glory, why am I also still judged as a sinner? ⁸ And Why not (as we are slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say), "Let us do evil, that good may come?" Their condemnation is just.

¹⁹ You will say then, "Branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in."

¹² Now if Christ is preached, that he has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?

³⁵ But someone will say, "How are the dead raised?" and, "With what kind of body do they come?"

¹³ Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God," for God cannot be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one.

³ Shall vain words have an end? Or what provokes you that you answer?

¹³ Why do you strive against him, because he doesn't give account of any of his matters?

²³ Who has prescribed his way for him? Or who can say, 'You have committed unrighteousness?'

² "Who is this who darkens counsel by words without knowledge? ³ Brace yourself like a man, for I will question you, then you answer me.

² "Shall he who argues contend with Shaddai? He who argues with God, let him answer it."

⁵ I have spoken once, and I will not answer; Yes, twice, but I will proceed no further."

⁸ Will you even annul my judgment? Will you condemn me, that you may be justified?

² "I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be restrained. ³ You asked, 'Who is this who hides counsel without knowledge?' therefore I have uttered that which I did not understand, things too wonderful for me, which I did not know. ⁴ You said, 'Listen, now, and I will speak; I will question you, and you will answer me.' ⁵ I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees you. ⁶ Therefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes."

¹⁶ You turn things upside down. Should the potter be thought to be like clay; that the thing made should say about him who made it, "He did not make me;" or the thing formed say of him who formed it, "He has no understanding?"

⁹ Woe to him who strives with his Maker, a clay pot among the clay pots of the earth. Shall the clay ask him who fashions it, 'What are you making?' or your work, 'He has no hands?' ¹⁰ Woe to him who says to a father, 'What have you become the father of?' or to a mother, 'To what have you given birth?'" ¹¹ Thus says the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker: "You ask me about the things that are to come, concerning my sons, and you command me concerning the work of my hands.

⁸ But now, LORD, you are our Father, and we are clay, and you are our potter; and we all are the work of your hands.

⁸ He has shown you, O man, what is good. What does the LORD require of you, but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?

¹⁵ Is it not lawful for me to do what I want to with what I own? Or is your eye evil, because I am good?'

¹ Therefore you are without excuse, everyone of you who passes judgment. For in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself. For you who judge practice the same things.

²⁰ Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Hasn't God made foolish the wisdom of the world?

¹⁶ For how do you know, wife, whether you will save your husband? Or how do you know, husband, whether you will save your wife?

⁵ constant friction of people of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain.

⁹ Exhort servants to be in subjection to their own masters, and to be well-pleasing in all things; not contradicting;

²⁰ But do you want to know, foolish person, that faith apart from works is useless?

³ Then I went down to the potter's house, and look, he was making a work on the wheels. ⁴ When the vessel that he made of the clay was marred in the hand of the potter, he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it. ⁵ Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying, ⁶ "'House of Israel, can't I do with you as this potter?' says the LORD. 'Look, as the clay in the potter's hand, so are you in my hand, house of Israel.'

²⁸ Is this man Coniah a despised broken vessel? Is he a vessel in which none delights? Why are they cast out, he and his descendants, and cast into a land that they do not know?

⁸ Israel is swallowed up. Now they are among the nations like a worthless thing.

¹⁵ But the Lord said to him, "Go your way, for he is my chosen vessel to bear my name before the nations and kings, and the children of Israel.

¹⁸ So then, he has mercy on whom he desires, and he hardens whom he desires.

²² What if God, willing to show his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much patience vessels of wrath made for destruction, ²³ and that he might make known the riches of his glory on vessels of mercy, which he prepared beforehand for glory,

²⁰ Now in a large house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of clay. Some are for honor, and some for dishonor. ²¹ If anyone therefore purges himself from these, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, and suitable for the master's use, prepared for every good work.

¹⁶ In the fourth generation they will come here again, for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete."

¹¹ The LORD said to Moses, "How long will this people despise me? And how long will they not believe in me, for all the signs which I have worked among them?

¹⁸ 'The LORD is slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness, forgiving iniquity and disobedience; and that will by no means clear [the guilty], visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, and upon the children's children, on the third and on the fourth [generation].'

²¹ You have done these things, and I kept silent. You thought that I was just like you. I will rebuke you, and accuse you in front of your eyes. ²² "Now consider this, you who forget God, lest I tear you into pieces, and there be none to deliver.

¹¹ Who knows the power of your anger, your wrath according to the fear that is due to you?

¹¹ Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil. ¹² Though a sinner commits crimes a hundred times, and lives long, yet surely I know that it will be better with those who fear God, who are reverent before him.

²² The LORD's faithful love does not cease; his compassion does not fail.

³¹ Therefore you testify to yourselves that you are children of those who killed the prophets. ³² Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers. ³³ You serpents, you offspring of vipers, how will you escape the judgment of hell?

¹⁸ For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of people, who suppress the truth by unrighteousness,

⁴ Or do you despise the riches of his goodness, forbearance, and patience, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance? ⁵ But according to your hardness and unrepentant heart you are storing up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;

¹⁷ For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, "For this very purpose I caused you to be raised up, that I might show in you my power, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth."

²¹ Or hasn't the potter a right over the clay, from the same lump to make one part a vessel for honor, and another for dishonor?

¹⁶ forbidding us to speak to those who are not Jewish that they may be saved; to fill up their sins always. But wrath has come on them to the uttermost.

⁹ For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to the obtaining of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,

²⁰ Now in a large house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of clay. Some are for honor, and some for dishonor.

⁸ and, "a stone to stumble over, and a rock to trip over." For they stumble at the word, being disobedient, to which also they were appointed.

²⁰ who before were disobedient, when God waited patiently in the days of Noah, while the box-shaped vessel was being built. In it, few, that is, eight souls, were saved by means of water.

³ In covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words: whose sentence now from of old does not linger, and their destruction is not asleep.

⁹ the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptation and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment;

⁸ But do not forget this one thing, beloved, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. ⁹ The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

¹⁵ Regard the patience of our Lord as salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also, according to the wisdom given to him, wrote to you;

⁴ For there are certain people who crept in secretly, even those who were long ago written about for this condemnation: ungodly people, turning the grace of our God into sensuality, and denying our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

⁹ When he opened the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of people who had been killed for the Word of God, and for the testimony which they had. ¹⁰ They called out with a loud voice, saying, "How long, Master, the holy and true, until you judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?" ¹¹ A long white robe was given to each of them. They were told that they should rest yet for a little longer, until their fellow servants and their brothers, who would also be killed even as they were, should complete their course.

¹⁶ They told the mountains and the rocks, "Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, ¹⁷ for the great day of their wrath has come; and who is able to stand?"

¹⁸ The LORD, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Israel, our fathers, keep this forever in the imagination of the thoughts of the heart of your people, and prepare their heart for you;

¹⁷ He will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, 'to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,' and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord."

⁴ Or do you despise the riches of his goodness, forbearance, and patience, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?

²⁹ For whom he foreknew, he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.

⁶ to the praise of the glory of his grace, which he freely bestowed on us in the Beloved One, ⁷ in whom we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, ⁸ which he made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence,

¹⁸ having the eyes of your heart enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

³ among whom we also all once lived in the lust of our flesh, doing the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.

⁷ that in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus;

¹⁰ For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them.

⁸ To me, the very least of all saints, was this grace given, to proclaim to the non-Jews the unsearchable riches of Christ,

¹⁶ that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, that you may be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inner person;

¹² giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the light;

²⁷ to them God was pleased to make known the glorious riches of this mystery among the non-Jews, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory;

¹⁰ when he comes to be glorified in his saints, and to be marveled at among all those who have believed, because our testimony to you was believed. ¹¹ To this end we also pray always for you, that our God may count you worthy of your calling, and fulfill every desire of goodness and work of faith, with power; ¹² that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

²¹ If anyone therefore purges himself from these, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, and suitable for the master's use, prepared for every good work.

³ For we were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. ⁴ But when the kindness of God our Savior and his love toward humankind appeared, ⁵ not by works of righteousness, which we did ourselves, but according to his mercy, he saved us, through the washing of rebirth and renewing by the Holy Spirit, ⁶ whom he poured out on us richly, through Jesus Christ our Savior; ⁷ that, being justified by his grace, we might be made heirs according to the hope of everlasting life.

² according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, that you may obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with his blood: Grace to you and peace be multiplied. ³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, ⁴ to an incorruptible and undefiled inheritance that does not fade away, reserved in Heaven for you, ⁵ who by the power of God are guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

²⁷ Every part of the earth shall remember and turn to the LORD, and all the families of the nations shall worship before you.

⁴⁷ For so has the Lord commanded us, saying, 'I have set you as a light to the nations, that you may bring salvation to the farthest part of the earth.'" ⁴⁸ As the non-Jewish people heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord. As many as were appointed to everlasting life believed.

¹⁴ Simeon has reported how God first visited the nations, to take out of them a people for his name.

¹⁷ When we had come to Jerusalem, the brothers received us gladly. ¹⁸ The day following, Paul went in with us to James; and all the elders were present. ¹⁹ When he had greeted them, he reported one by one the things which God had worked among the non-Jewish people through his ministry. ²⁰ They, when they heard it, glorified God. They said to him, "You see, brother, how many thousands there are among the Jews of those who have believed, and they are all zealous for the Law.

²⁹ Or is God for Jews only? Is he not the God of the non-Jews also? Yes, of the non-Jews also, ³⁰ since indeed there is one God who will justify the circumcised by faith, and the uncircumcised through faith.

¹¹ He received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had while he was in uncircumcision, so that he might be the father of all those who believe, though they be in uncircumcision, that righteousness might also be credited to them. ¹² The father of circumcision to those who not only are of the circumcision, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had in uncircumcision.

¹¹ I ask then, did they stumble that they might fall? Absolutely not. But by their fall salvation has come to the non-Jews, to provoke them to jealousy. ¹² Now if their fall is the riches of the world, and their loss the riches of the non-Jews; how much more their fullness? ¹³ For I speak to you who are the non-Jews. Since then as I am an apostle to the non-Jews, I glorify my ministry;

⁸ Now I say that Christ has been made a servant of the circumcision for the truth of God, that he might confirm the promises given to the fathers, ⁹ and that the non-Jews might glorify God for his mercy. As it is written, "therefore I will give praise to you among the non-Jews, and sing to your name." ¹⁰ Again he says, "Rejoice, you nations, with his people." ¹¹ Again, "Praise the Lord, all you nations. Let all the peoples praise him." ¹² Again, Isaiah says, "There will be the root of Jesse, he who arises to rule over the peoples; in him will the nations hope." ¹³ Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope, in the power of the Holy Spirit. ¹⁴ I myself am also persuaded about you, my brothers, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish others. ¹⁵ But I write the more boldly to you in part, as reminding you, because of the grace that was given to me by God, ¹⁶ that I should be a servant of Christ Jesus to the non-Jews, serving as a priest the Good News of God, that the offering up of the non-Jews might be made acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

⁹ God is faithful, through whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord.

²⁸ There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

¹¹ Therefore remember that once you, the non-Jews in the flesh, who are called "uncircumcision" by that which is called "circumcision," (in the flesh, made by hands); ¹² that you were at that time separate from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of the promise, having no hope and without God in the world. ¹³ But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

⁶ that the non-Jews are fellow heirs, and fellow members of the body, and fellow partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the Good News, ⁷ of which I was made a servant, according to the gift of that grace of God which was given me according to the working of his power. ⁸ To me, the very least of all saints, was this grace given, to proclaim to the non-Jews the unsearchable riches of Christ,

¹¹ where there cannot be Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, slave, freeman; but Christ is all, and in all.

¹ Therefore, holy brothers, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Jesus;

⁹ He said to me, "Write, 'Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.'" He said to me, "These are true words of God."

⁸ "'Now when I passed by you, and looked at you, look, your time was the time of love; and I spread my skirt over you, and covered your nakedness: yes, I swore to you, and entered into a covenant with you,' says the Lord GOD, 'and you became mine.

¹ The word of the LORD that came to Hosea the son of Beeri, in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel. ² When the LORD spoke at the first by Hosea, the LORD said to Hosea, "Go, take for yourself a wife of prostitution and children of unfaithfulness; for the land commits great adultery, forsaking the LORD."

²³ And I will sow her for myself in the land; and I will have compassion on No Compassion; and I will say to Not My People, 'You are my people;' and they will say, 'My God.'"

²⁷ for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me, and have believed that I came forth from God.

⁷ to all who are in Rome, loved by God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

¹⁰ who once were not a people, but now are God's people, who had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

⁶ I will tell the north, 'Give them up.' and tell the south, 'Do not hold them back. Bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the farthest parts of the earth—

⁹ He said, "Call his name 'Not My People,' for you are x91Not my Peopleʼ and I am 'Not your I AM.' ¹⁰ Yet the number of the children of Israel will be as the sand of the sea, which can't be measured nor numbered; and it will come to pass that, in the place where it was said to them, "You are 'Not My People,'" they will be called "Children of the Living God."

¹⁶ Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."

⁵² and not for the nation only, but that he might also gather together into one the children of God who are scattered abroad.

¹⁸ "And I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters," says the Lord of hosts.

²⁶ For you are all children of God, through faith in Christ Jesus.

¹ See what kind of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God; and we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know him. ² Beloved, now we are children of God, and it is not yet revealed what we will be. We know that, when he is revealed, we will be like him; for we will see him just as he is. ³ Everyone who has this hope set on him purifies himself, even as he is pure.

¹⁷ I will indeed bless you, and I will greatly multiply your offspring like the stars of the sky, and like the sand which is on the seashore; and your offspring will possess the gate of their enemies.

⁸ Now for a little moment grace has been shown from the LORD our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a nail in his holy place, that our God may lighten our eyes, and give us a little reviving in our bondage.

¹⁴ shall we again break your commandments, and join in affinity with the peoples that do these abominations? Wouldn't you be angry with us until you had consumed us, so that there should be no remnant, nor any to escape?

¹ The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem, in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.

⁹ Unless the LORD of hosts had left us a few survivors, we would have been as Sodom, and we would have been like Gomorrah.

²⁰ It will come to pass in that day that the remnant of Israel, and those who have escaped from the house of Jacob will no more again lean on him who struck them, but shall lean on the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, in truth. ²¹ A remnant will return, even the remnant of Jacob, to the mighty God. ²² For though your people, Israel, are as the sand of the sea, a remnant will be kept safe. For he will fulfill the word and decisively, overflowing in righteousness; ²³ because the Lord will carry out the word decisively in the midst of the earth.

¹¹ It will happen in that day that the Lord will set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant that is left of his people from Assyria, from Egypt, from Pathros, from Cush, from Elam, from Shinar, from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.

¹³ For it will be so in the midst of the earth among the peoples, as the shaking of an olive tree, as the gleanings when the vintage is done.

¹⁰ "Go up on her walls, and destroy; but do not make a full end. Take away her branches; for they are not the LORD's.

⁸ "'"Yet will I leave a remnant, in that you shall have some that escape the sword among the nations, when you shall be scattered through the countries.

¹⁰ Yet the number of the children of Israel will be as the sand of the sea, which can't be measured nor numbered; and it will come to pass that, in the place where it was said to them, "You are 'Not My People,'" they will be called "Children of the Living God."

³ Therefore he will abandon them until the time that she who is in labor gives birth. Then the rest of his brothers will return to the children of Israel. ⁴ He shall stand, and shall shepherd in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God: and they will live, for then he will be great to the farthest parts of the earth. ⁵ He will be our peace when Assyria invades our land, and when he marches through our fortresses, then we will raise against him seven shepherds, and eight leaders of men. ⁶ They will rule the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod with the drawn sword. He will deliver us from the Assyrian, when he invades our land, and when he marches within our border. ⁷ The remnant of Jacob will be in the midst of many peoples, like dew from the LORD, like showers on the grass, that do not wait for man, nor wait for the sons of men. ⁸ The remnant of Jacob will be among the nations, in the midst of many peoples, like a lion among the animals of the forest, like a young lion among the flocks of sheep; who, if he goes through, treads down and tears in pieces, and there is no one to deliver.

⁴ But how does God answer him? "I have kept for myself seven thousand people, who have not bowed the knee to Baal." ⁵ Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace. ⁶ And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace.

⁸ And he will judge the world in righteousness. He will judge the peoples with equity.

⁵ By awesome deeds of righteousness, you answer us, God of our salvation. You who are the hope of every part of the earth, of those who are far away on the sea;

¹⁶ but the LORD of hosts is exalted in justice, and God the Holy One is sanctified in righteousness.

²³ because the Lord will carry out the word decisively in the midst of the earth.

²² And as for you, do not be scoffers, lest your bonds be made strong; for I have heard a decree of destruction from the LORD of hosts, on the whole earth.

¹² Therefore thus says the Holy One of Israel, "Because you despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and rely on it; ¹³ therefore this iniquity shall be to you like a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking comes suddenly in an instant. ¹⁴ He will break it as a potter's vessel is broken, breaking it in pieces without sparing, so that there won't be found among the broken piece a piece good enough to take fire from the hearth, or to dip up water out of the cistern."

²⁶ After the sixty-two weeks the Messiah shall be cut off, and shall have nothing. And the people of a ruler who shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and his end shall come with a flood, and until the end there shall be war; desolations are decreed. ²⁷ He shall make a firm covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the offering to cease. And on the wing of abominations shall come one who destroys, and even until a complete destruction, until the decreed end is poured out on the one who destroys."

²¹ for then there will be great oppression, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, nor ever will be.

³¹ because he has appointed a day in which he will judge the world in righteousness by the man whom he has ordained; of which he has given assurance to everyone by raising him from the dead."

¹¹ I saw the heaven opened, and suddenly there was a white horse, and he who sat on it is called Faithful and True. In righteousness he judges and makes war.

²⁴ Then the LORD rained on Sodom and on Gomorrah sulfur and fire from the sky. ²⁵ He overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew on the ground.

²³ and that the whole land of it is sulfur, salt, and burning, that it is not sown, nor bears, nor any grass grows in it, like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which the LORD overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath:

¹³ If there is a tenth left in it, that also will in turn be consumed: as a terebinth, and as an oak, whose stock remains when they are felled. The holy seed is its stock."

¹⁹ Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldeans' pride, will be like when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.

¹⁸ As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbor cities of it," says the LORD, "no man shall dwell there, neither shall any son of man live in it.

⁴⁰ As when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbor cities of it," says the LORD, "so shall no man dwell there, neither shall any son of man live in it."

⁶ For the iniquity of the daughter of my people is greater than the sin of Sodom, which was overthrown in an instant, and no hands were laid on her.

¹¹ "I have overthrown some of you, as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and you were like a burning stick plucked out of the fire; yet you haven't returned to me," says the LORD.

⁶ The sea coast will be pastures, with cottages for shepherds and folds for flocks.

⁴ Look, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you have kept back by fraud, cry out, and the cries of those who reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of hosts.

⁶ and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, having made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly;

⁷ Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them, having, in the same way as these, given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the punishment of everlasting fire.

⁹ The way of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, but he loves him who follows after righteousness.

²¹ He who follows after righteousness and kindness finds life, righteousness, and honor.

¹ "Listen to me, you who follow after righteousness, you who seek the LORD: look to the rock you were cut from, and to the hold of the pit you were dug from.

¹ "I have shown myself to those who did not ask for me. I was found by those who did not seek me. I said, 'Here I am. Here I am.' to a nation that did not call on my name. ² All day long I have stretched out my hands to a disobedient and obstinate people, who walk in a way that is not good, following their own thoughts;

¹⁷ For in it is revealed God's righteousness from faith to faith. As it is written, "But the righteous will live by faith." ¹⁸ For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of people, who suppress the truth by unrighteousness, ¹⁹ because what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. ²⁰ For since the creation of the world his invisible attributes, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made. So they are without excuse. ²¹ Because, although they knew God, they did not glorify him as God or give him thanks, but their thinking became nonsense, and their foolish heart was darkened. ²² Claiming to be wise, they became fools, ²³ and traded the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal humans, and of birds, and four-footed animals, and crawling creatures. ²⁴ Therefore God also abandoned them in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the degrading of their bodies among themselves, ²⁵ who exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creation rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. ²⁶ For this reason, God abandoned them to their degrading passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for that which is contrary to nature. ²⁷ Likewise also the men, giving up natural relations with women, burned in their lust toward one another, men with men, committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the due penalty of their error. ²⁸ Even as they refused to have God in their knowledge, God abandoned them to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not right; ²⁹ being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil habits, secret slanderers, ³⁰ slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, ³¹ foolish, promise-breakers, heartless, unforgiving, unmerciful; ³² who, knowing the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but also approve of those who practice them.

⁵ But if our unrighteousness commends the righteousness of God, what will we say? Is God unrighteous who inflicts wrath? (I am speaking in human terms).

²¹ But now apart from the law, a righteousness of God has been revealed, being testified by the Law and the Prophets; ²² even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. For there is no distinction,

⁹ Is this blessing then pronounced on the circumcised, or on the uncircumcised also? For we say that faith was credited to Abraham as righteousness.

¹¹ He received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had while he was in uncircumcision, so that he might be the father of all those who believe, though they be in uncircumcision, that righteousness might also be credited to them.

¹³ For the promise to Abraham and to his descendants that he should be heir of the world was not through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.

²² And therefore "it was credited to him as righteousness."

¹ Being therefore justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ;

¹⁴ What should we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? Absolutely not.

³¹ but Israel, following after a law of righteousness, did not arrive at that law.

⁶ But the righteousness which is of faith says this, "Do not say in your heart, 'Who will go up into heaven?' (that is, to bring Christ down);

¹⁰ For with the heart one believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth acknowledgment is made, resulting in salvation.

²⁰ Isaiah is very bold, and says, "I was found by those who did not seek me. I was revealed to those who did not ask for me."

⁹ Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor men who have sexual relations with men, ¹⁰ nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor swindlers, will inherit the Kingdom of God. ¹¹ Such were some of you, but you were washed. But you were sanctified. But you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in the Spirit of our God.

¹⁶ yet knowing that no one is justified by the works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ, and not by the works of the law, because no flesh will be justified by the works of the law.

²⁴ So that the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

⁵ For we, through the Spirit, by faith wait for the hope of righteousness.

¹⁷ This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you no longer walk as the nations also walk, in the futility of their mind, ¹⁸ being darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardening of their hearts; ¹⁹ who having become callous gave themselves up to lust, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

⁹ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own, that which is of the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;

¹¹ But you, man of God, flee these things, and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and gentleness.

⁷ By faith, Noah, being warned about things not yet seen, in reverence prepared a box-shaped vessel for the salvation of his household, through which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.

³ For enough time in the past has been spent doing the will of the unbelievers, and having walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, orgies, carousings, and abominable idolatries.

²⁰ Because by the works of the law, no flesh will be justified in his sight. For through the law comes the knowledge of sin.

¹⁴ For if those who are of the law are heirs, faith is made void, and the promise is made of no effect. ¹⁵ For the law works wrath, for where there is no law, neither is there disobedience.

³⁰ What should we say then? That the non-Jews, who did not follow after righteousness, attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith; ³¹ but Israel, following after a law of righteousness, did not arrive at that law. ³² Why? Because they did not seek it by faith, but as it were by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone;

² For I testify about them that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. ³ For being ignorant of God's righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God. ⁴ For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

⁷ What then? That which Israel seeks for, that he did not obtain, but the chosen ones obtained it, and the rest were hardened.

¹⁰ For as many as are of the works of the law are under a curse. For it is written, "Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things that are written in the book of the law, to do them." ¹¹ Now it is evident that no one is justified by the law before God, for, "The righteous will live by faith."

²¹ Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not. For if there had been a law given which could give life, most certainly righteousness would have been of the law.

³ Yes, I testify again to every man who receives circumcision, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. ⁴ You are alienated from Christ, you who desire to be justified by the law. You have fallen away from grace.

⁶ concerning zeal, persecuting the church; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, found blameless.

¹⁰ For whoever keeps the whole law, and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all. ¹¹ For he who said, "Do not commit adultery," also said, "Do not commit murder." Now if you do not commit adultery, but murder, you have become a transgressor of the law.

⁵⁷ And they were offended by him. But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor, except in his own country, and in his own house."

¹⁶ And look, someone came to him and said, "Teacher, what good thing must I do, that I may have everlasting life?" ¹⁷ He said to him, "Why do you ask me about what is good? No one is good but one. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments." ¹⁸ He said to him, "Which ones?" And Jesus said, "'Do not murder.' 'Do not commit adultery.' 'Do not steal.' 'Do not offer false testimony.' ¹⁹ 'Honor your father and mother.' And, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'" ²⁰ The young man said to him, "All these things I have kept. What do I still lack?"

³⁴ and Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary, his mother, "Look, this child is set for the falling and the rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which is spoken against.

²³ Blessed is he who is not offended by me."

²⁷ Do not work for the food which perishes, but for the food which remains to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For God the Father has sealed him." ²⁸ They said therefore to him, "What must we do, that we may work the works of God?" ²⁹ Jesus answered them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent."

³⁰ and brought them out and said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" ³¹ They said, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household." ³² They spoke the word of the Lord to him, and to all who were in his house. ³³ He took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes, and was immediately baptized, he and all his household. ³⁴ He brought them up into his house, and set food before them, and rejoiced greatly, with all his household, having believed in God.

¹⁶ For this cause it is of faith, that it may be according to grace, to the end that the promise may be sure to all the descendants, not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all.

³ For being ignorant of God's righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God.

¹¹ I ask then, did they stumble that they might fall? Absolutely not. But by their fall salvation has come to the non-Jews, to provoke them to jealousy.

²³ but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to the non-Jews,

⁹ If we accept human testimony, the witness of God is greater; for this is God's testimony that he has testified concerning his Son. ¹⁰ He who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. He who does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning his Son. ¹¹ The testimony is this, that God gave to us everlasting life, and this life is in his Son. ¹² He who has the Son has the life. He who does not have God's Son does not have the life.

² My God, I have trusted in you. Do not let me be shamed. Do not let my enemies triumph over me. ³ Yes, no one who waits for you shall be shamed. They shall be shamed who deal treacherously without cause.

²⁰ Oh keep my soul, and deliver me. Let me not be disappointed, for I take refuge in you.

²² The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.

¹⁴ And he will be a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock that makes them fall to both the houses of Israel, for a trap and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. ¹⁵ Many will stumble over it, fall, be broken, be snared, and be captured."

¹⁶ Therefore thus says the LORD, "Look, I am laying in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation, and the one who believes in him will not be put to shame.

¹⁷ Israel will be saved by the LORD with an everlasting salvation. You will not be disappointed nor confounded to ages everlasting.

⁴ "Do not be afraid, for you will not be put to shame, nor will you be humiliated, for you will not be disgraced. For you will forget the shame of your youth, and the disgrace of your widowhood you will remember no more.

²⁶ You will have plenty to eat, and be satisfied, and will praise the name of the LORD, your God, who has dealt wondrously with you; and my people will never be put to shame. ²⁷ You will know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD, your God, and there is no one else; and my people will never be put to shame.

⁴² Jesus said to them, "Did you never read in the Scriptures, 'The stone which the builders rejected, the same was made the head of the corner. This was from the Lord. It is marvelous in our eyes?'

⁴⁴ He who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; but on whomever it will fall, it will crush him."

⁵ and hope does not disappoint us, because God's love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

¹¹ For the Scripture says, "Whoever believes in him will not be put to shame."

²⁰ according to my earnest expectation and hope, that I will in no way be disappointed, but with all boldness, as always, now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life, or by death.

¹² For this cause I also suffer these things. Yet I am not ashamed, for I know him whom I have believed, and I am persuaded that he is able to guard that which I have committed to him against that day.

⁶ Because it is contained in Scripture, "Look, I am laying in Zion a stone, a chosen precious cornerstone, and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame." ⁷ For you who believe therefore is the honor, but for those who do not believe, "The stone which the builders rejected, has become the chief cornerstone," ⁸ and, "a stone to stumble over, and a rock to trip over." For they stumble at the word, being disobedient, to which also they were appointed.

²⁸ Now, little children, remain in him, that when he appears, we may have boldness, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
