¹⁴ I myself am also persuaded about you, my brothers, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish others.

⁵ that in everything you were enriched in him, in all speech and all knowledge;

¹ Now concerning things sacrificed to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.

⁷ However, not all have this knowledge. But some, being so accustomed to idols until now, eat as of a thing sacrificed to an idol, and their conscience, being weak, is defiled.

¹⁰ For if someone sees you who have knowledge sitting in an idol's temple, won't his conscience, if he is weak, be emboldened to eat things sacrificed to idols?

⁸ For to one is given through the Spirit the word of wisdom, and to another the word of knowledge, according to the same Spirit;

² If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.

⁹ for the fruit of the light is in all goodness and righteousness and truth,

⁷ It is even right for me to think this way about all of you, because I have you in my heart, because, both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the Good News, you all are partakers with me of grace.

¹¹ being filled with the fruit of righteousness, which are through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

⁸ who also declared to us your love in the Spirit. ⁹ For this cause, we also, since the day we heard this, do not cease praying and making requests for you, that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, ¹⁰ that you may walk worthily of the Lord, to please him in every way, bearing fruit in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

¹⁶ Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your heart to God.

¹¹ Therefore exhort one another, and build each other up, even as you also do.

¹⁴ We exhort you, brothers, admonish the disorderly, encourage the fainthearted, support the weak, be patient toward all.

⁵ having been reminded of the unfeigned faith that is in you; which lived first in your grandmother Lois, and your mother Eunice, and, I am persuaded, in you also.

³ and that older women likewise be reverent in behavior, not slanderers nor enslaved to much wine, teachers of that which is good; ⁴ that they may train the young women to love their husbands, to love their children,

²¹ Having confidence in your obedience, I write to you, knowing that you will do even beyond what I say.

¹² For when by reason of the time you ought to be teachers, you again need to have someone teach you the rudiments of the first principles of the oracles of God. You have come to need milk, not solid food.

⁹ But, beloved, we are persuaded of better things for you, and things that accompany salvation, even though we speak like this.

²⁴ Let us consider how to motivate one another to love and good works, ²⁵ not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as you see the Day approaching.

⁵ Yes, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence; and in moral excellence, knowledge; ⁶ and in knowledge, self-control; and in self-control patience; and in patience godliness; ⁷ and in godliness brotherly affection; and in brotherly affection, love. ⁸ For if these things are yours and abound, they make you to be not idle nor unfruitful to the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹² Therefore I will be ready always to remind you of these things, though you know them, and are established in the present truth.

²¹ I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and because no lie is of the truth.

²⁰ But you, beloved, keep building yourselves up in your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit. ²¹ Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to everlasting life. ²² And be merciful on those who doubt, ²³ and some save, snatching them out of the fire, and on some have mercy with fear; hating even the clothing stained by the flesh.
