¹² And God said to Balaam, "You are not to go with them, and you are not to curse the people, for they are blessed."

² And I will make of you a great nation. And I will bless you and make your name great. And you will be a blessing.

¹⁶ and said, "I have sworn by myself," says the LORD, "because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only one, from me, ¹⁷ I will indeed bless you, and I will greatly multiply your offspring like the stars of the sky, and like the sand which is on the seashore; and your offspring will possess the gate of their enemies. ¹⁸ And through your offspring all the nations of the earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice." ¹⁹ Now therefore, you also stay here tonight, that I may know what else the LORD will say to me." ²⁰ God came to Balaam at night, and said to him, "If the men have come to call you, rise up, go with them; but only the word which I speak to you, that you shall do."

³ Balaam said to Balak, "Station yourself by your burnt offering, and I will go. Perhaps God will come to meet me, and whatever he shows me I will tell you." And Balak went off and stationed himself by his offering, and Balaam called to God and went off to a barren height.

¹³ Balak said to him, "Please come with me to another place, where you may see them; you shall see but the utmost part of them, and shall not see them all; and curse them for me from there." ¹⁴ He took him into the field of Zophim, to the top of Pisgah, and built seven altars, and offered up a bull and a ram on every altar. ¹⁵ He said to Balak, "Station yourself here by your burnt offering, while I meet over there."

¹⁹ God is not a man, that he should lie, nor the son of man, that he should repent. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not make it good? ²⁰ Look, I have received a command to bless. He has blessed, and I can't reverse it.

²³ Surely there is no enchantment with Jacob; neither is there any divination with Israel. Now it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, what has God done.

⁵ Nevertheless the LORD your God wouldn't listen to Balaam; but the LORD your God turned the curse into a blessing to you, because the LORD your God loved you.

²⁹ You are happy, Israel. Who is like you, a people saved by the LORD, the shield of your help, the sword of your excellency. Your enemies shall submit themselves to you. You shall tread on their high places."

¹⁵ In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on men, in slumbering on the bed; ¹⁶ Then he opens the ears of men, and seals their instruction, ¹⁷ That he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man.

¹⁵ Blessed are the people who are in such a situation. Blessed are the people whose God is the LORD.

⁵ Blessed is the one who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God,

⁵ My people, remember now what Balak king of Moab devised, and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him from Shittim to Gilgal, that you may know the righteous acts of the LORD."

¹⁹ While he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent to him, saying, "Have nothing to do with that righteous man, for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him."

⁶ Even as David also pronounces blessing on the one to whom God counts righteousness apart from works, ⁷ "Happy are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.

²⁹ For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.
