¹⁰ Then many will stumble, and will deliver up one another, and will hate one another.

⁵ Do not trust in a neighbor. Do not put confidence in a friend. With the woman lying in your embrace, be careful of the words of your mouth. ⁶ For the son dishonors the father, the daughter rises up against her mother, the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; a man's enemies are the men of his own house.

²¹ "And brother will deliver up brother to death, and the father his child. Children will rise up against parents, and cause them to be put to death.

³⁵ For I came to set a man at odds against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. ³⁶ And a person's foes will be those of his own household.

⁶ And blessed is he who is not offended by me."

²¹ yet he has no root in himself, but endures for a while. When oppression or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.

⁵⁷ And they were offended by him. But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor, except in his own country, and in his own house."

²¹ As they were eating, he said, "Truly I tell you that one of you will betray me." ²² And they were greatly distressed, and each one began to ask him, "It is not me, is it, Lord?" ²³ He answered, "He who dipped his hand with me in the dish, the same will betray me. ²⁴ The Son of Man goes, even as it is written of him, but woe to that man through whom the Son of Man is betrayed. It would be better for that man if he had not been born."

³¹ Then Jesus said to them, "All of you will be made to stumble because of me tonight, for it is written, 'I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.' ³² But after I am raised up, I will go before you into Galilee." ³³ But Peter answered him, "Even if all will be made to stumble because of you, I will never be made to stumble." ³⁴ Jesus said to him, "Truly I tell you that tonight, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times."
