³³ So therefore whoever of you who does not renounce all that he has, he cannot be my disciple.

¹¹ When they had brought their boats to land, they left everything, and followed him.

²⁶ "If anyone comes to me, and does not hate his own father, mother, wife, children, brothers, and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.

²² When Jesus heard it, he said to him, "You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have, and distribute it to the poor. You will have treasure in heaven. Come, follow me." ²³ But when he heard these things, he became very sad, for he was very rich.

²⁸ And Peter said, "Look, we have left our own things and followed you." ²⁹ He said to them, "Truly I tell you, there is no one who has left house, or wife, or brothers, or parents, or children, for the Kingdom of God's sake, ³⁰ who will not receive many times more in this time, and in the world to come, everlasting life."

¹ But a certain man named Ananias, with Sappirah, his wife, sold a possession, ² and kept back part of the price, his wife also being aware of it, and brought a certain part, and put it at the apostles' feet. ³ But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit, and to keep back part of the price of the land? ⁴ While you kept it, did not it remain your own? After it was sold, was not it in your power? How is it that you have conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to people, but to God." ⁵ Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and died. Great fear came on all who heard it.

¹⁹ saying, "Give me also this power, that whomever I lay my hands on may receive the Holy Spirit." ²⁰ But Peter said to him, "May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain the gift of God with money. ²¹ You have neither part nor lot in this matter, for your heart is not right before God. ²² Repent therefore of this, your wickedness, and ask the Lord if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you.

⁷ However, what things were gain to me, these have I counted loss for Christ. ⁸ More than that, I count all things to be a loss compared to the far greater value of knowing Christ Jesus, my Lord, for whom I suffered the loss of all things, and count them nothing but refuse, that I may gain Christ
