¹⁶ These are murmurers and complainers, walking after their lusts (and their mouth speaks proud things), showing respect of persons to gain advantage.

¹⁵ "'You shall do no injustice in judgment: you shall not be partial to the poor, nor show favoritism to the great; but you shall judge your neighbor in righteousness.

³⁶ The men, whom Moses sent to spy out the land, who returned, and made all the congregation to murmur against him, by bringing up an evil report against the land,

¹¹ Therefore you and all your company are gathered together against God. And Aaron, what is he that you murmur against him?"

²⁷ and you murmured in your tents, and said, "Because the LORD hated us, he has brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us.

⁴ For you have hidden their heart from understanding, Therefore you shall not exalt them. ⁵ He who denounces his friends for a prey, Even the eyes of his children shall fail.

²¹ Please do not let me respect any man's person, neither will I give flattering titles to any man.

¹⁹ Who doesn't respect the persons of princes, nor regards the rich more than the poor; for they all are the work of his hands.

⁴ In his eyes a vile man is despised, but he honors those who fear the LORD. He keeps an oath even when it hurts, and doesn't change it.

¹⁰ They close up their callous hearts. With their mouth they speak proudly.

⁹ They have set their mouth in the heavens. Their tongue walks through the earth. ¹⁰ Therefore my people turn to them, and they drink up waters of abundance. ¹¹ They say, "How does God know? Is there knowledge in the Most High?"

²⁵ but murmured in their tents, and did not listen to the LORD's voice.

²¹ To show partiality is not good; yet a man will do wrong for a piece of bread.

²⁴ They also who err in spirit will come to understanding, and those who grumble will receive instruction."

³⁰ The Pharisees and their scribes grumbled at his disciples, saying, "Why do you eat and drink with the tax collectors and sinners?"

²⁴ Those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts.

¹⁴ Do all things without murmurings and disputes,

⁵ not in the passion of lust, even as the nations who do not know God;

⁵ constant friction of people of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain.

³ For the time will come when they will not listen to the sound doctrine, but, having itching ears, will heap up for themselves teachers after their own lusts;

¹⁴ But each one is tempted, when he is drawn away by his own lust, and enticed. ¹⁵ Then the lust, when it has conceived, bears sin; and the sin, when it is full grown, brings forth death.

¹ My brothers, do not hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ of glory with partiality. ² For if someone with a gold ring, in fine clothing, comes into your synagogue, and a poor person in filthy clothing also comes in; ³ and you pay special attention to the one who wears the fine clothing, and say, "Sit here in a good place;" but you tell the poor person, "Stand there," or "Sit by my footstool." ⁴ Have you not discriminated among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts? ⁵ Listen, my beloved brothers. Did not God choose those who are poor in this world to be rich in faith, and heirs of the Kingdom which he promised to those who love him? ⁶ But you have dishonored the poor person. Do not the rich oppress you, and personally drag you before the courts? ⁷ Do not they blaspheme the honorable name by which you are called? ⁸ However, if you fulfill the royal law, according to the Scripture, "You are to love your neighbor as yourself," you do well. ⁹ But if you show partiality, you commit sin, being convicted by the law as transgressors.

¹⁴ As obedient children, do not be conformed to the desires as in your ignorance,

¹¹ Beloved, I urge you as foreigners and temporary residents, to abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

² that you no longer should live the rest of your time in the flesh for human desires, but for the will of God.

¹ But false prophets also arose among the people, as false teachers will also be among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, denying even the Master who bought them, bringing on themselves swift destruction. ² Many will follow their immoral ways, and as a result, the way of the truth will be maligned. ³ In covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words: whose sentence now from of old does not linger, and their destruction is not asleep.

¹⁰ but chiefly those who walk after the flesh in the lust of defilement, and despise authority. Daring, self-willed, they are not afraid to blaspheme the glories;

¹⁸ For, uttering great swelling words of emptiness, they entice in the lusts of the flesh, by licentiousness, those who actually escape from those who live in error;

³ knowing this first, that in the last days scoffers will come, mocking and walking after their own lusts,

¹⁵ to execute judgment on all, and to convict every person of all their works of ungodliness which they have done in an ungodly way, and of all the hard things which ungodly sinners have spoken against him."

¹⁸ They said to you that "In the end time there will be mockers, walking after their own ungodly lusts."
