¹ Now before the feast of the Passover, Jesus, knowing that his time had come that he would depart from this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end. ² And during the meal, the devil had already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him. ³ Because he knew that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he came forth from God, and was going to God, ⁴ arose from the meal, and removed his outer garments. He took a towel, and wrapped a towel around his waist. ⁵ Then he poured water into the basin, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him. ⁶ Then he came to Simon Peter. He said to him, "Lord, do you wash my feet?" ⁷ Jesus answered him, "You do not know what I am doing now, but you will understand later." ⁸ Peter said to him, "You will never wash my feet." Jesus answered him, "If I do not wash you, you have no part with me." ⁹ Simon Peter said to him, "Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head." ¹⁰ Jesus said to him, "Someone who has bathed only needs to have his feet washed, but is completely clean. You are clean, but not all of you." ¹¹ For he knew him who would betray him, therefore he said, "You are not all clean." ¹² So when he had washed their feet, put his outer garment back on, and sat down again, he said to them, "Do you know what I have done to you? ¹³ You call me, 'Teacher' and 'Lord.' You say so correctly, for so I am. ¹⁴ If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. ¹⁵ For I have given you an example, that you also should do as I have done to you. ¹⁶ Truly, truly, I tell you, a servant is not greater than his master, neither one who is sent greater than he who sent him. ¹⁷ If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them. ¹⁸ I do not speak concerning all of you. I know whom I have chosen. But that the Scripture may be fulfilled, 'He who ate my bread has lifted up his heel against me.' ¹⁹ I am telling you this now before it happens, so that when it does happen you may believe that I am he. ²⁰ Truly, truly, I tell you, he who receives whomever I send, receives me; and he who receives me, receives him who sent me." ²¹ When Jesus had said this, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, "Truly, truly, I tell you that one of you will betray me." ²² The disciples looked at one another, perplexed about whom he spoke. ²³ One of his disciples, whom Jesus loved, was reclining against Jesus' chest. ²⁴ Simon Peter therefore motioned to him to inquire who it was he was talking about. ²⁵ He, leaning back, as he was, on Jesus' chest, asked him, "Lord, who is it?" ²⁶ Jesus therefore answered, "It is he to whom I will give this piece of bread when I have dipped it." So when he had dipped the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot. ²⁷ After the piece of bread, then Satan entered into him. Then Jesus said to him, "What you do, do quickly." ²⁸ Now none of those reclining knew why he said this to him. ²⁹ For some thought, because Judas had the money box, that Jesus said to him, "Buy what things we need for the feast," or that he should give something to the poor. ³⁰ Therefore, having received the piece of bread, he went out immediately; and it was night. ³¹ When he had gone out, Jesus said, "Now the Son of Man has been glorified, and God has been glorified in him. ³² If God has been glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and he will glorify him at once. ³³ Little children, I will be with you a little while longer. You will seek me, and as I said to the Jewish leaders, 'Where I am going, you cannot come,' so now I tell you. ³⁴ A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also must love one another. ³⁵ By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." ³⁶ Simon Peter said to him, "Lord, where are you going?" Jesus answered, "Where I am going, you cannot follow now, but you will follow afterwards." ³⁷ Peter said to him, "Lord, why can I not follow you now? I will lay down my life for you." ³⁸ Jesus answered him, "Will you lay down your life for me? Truly, truly, I tell you, the rooster won't crow until you have denied me three times.

³ The LORD appeared to him from afar. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with loving kindness have I drawn you.

² "You know that after two days the Passover is coming, and the Son of Man will be delivered up to be crucified." ³ Then the chief priests and the scribes and the elders of the people gathered together in the court of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas. ⁴ They took counsel together that they might take Jesus by deceit, and kill him. ⁵ But they said, "Not during the feast, lest a riot occur among the people."

⁴⁵ Then he came to the disciples, and said to them, "Sleep on now, and take your rest. Look, the hour is near, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

²⁰ teaching them to obey all things that I commanded you. And look, I am with you every day, even to the end of the age."

¹ It was now two days before the feast of the Passover and the unleavened bread, and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might seize him by deception, and kill him. ² For they said, "Not during the feast, because there might be a riot of the people."

⁵¹ It came to pass, when the days were near that he should be taken up, he intently set his face to go to Jerusalem,

³² And he said to them, "Go and tell that fox, 'Look, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I complete my mission. ³³ Nevertheless I must go on my way today and tomorrow and the next day, for it cannot be that a prophet perish outside of Jerusalem.'

¹ Now the feast of unleavened bread, which is called the Passover, drew near. ² The chief priests and the scribes sought how they might kill him, for they feared the people.

⁵³ When I was with you in the temple daily, you did not stretch out your hands against me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness."

⁴ Now the Passover, the Jewish festival, was near.

⁶ Jesus therefore said to them, "My time has not yet come, but your time is always ready.

³⁰ They sought therefore to take him; but no one laid a hand on him, because his hour had not yet come.

²⁰ Jesus spoke these words in the treasury, as he taught in the temple. Yet no one arrested him, because his hour had not yet come.

⁹ Jesus answered, "Are there not twelve hours of daylight? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world. ¹⁰ But if anyone walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him."

⁵⁵ Now the Jewish Passover was near, and many went up from the country to Jerusalem before the Passover, to purify themselves.

²³ And Jesus answered them, "The time has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.

³ Because he knew that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he came forth from God, and was going to God,

³⁴ A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also must love one another.

²⁸ You heard how I told you, 'I am going away, and I will come to you.' If you loved me, you would rejoice that I am going to the Father; for the Father is greater than I.

⁹ Even as the Father has loved me, I also have loved you. Remain in my love. ¹⁰ If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and remain in his love.

¹³ Greater love has no one than this, that someone lays down his life for his friends. ¹⁴ You are my friends, if you do whatever I command you.

⁵ But now I am going to him who sent me, and none of you asks me, 'Where are you going?' ⁶ But because I have told you these things, sorrow has filled your heart. ⁷ Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper won't come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.

²⁸ I came forth from the Father and have come into the world. Again, I leave the world, and go to the Father."

¹ Jesus said these things, and lifting up his eyes to heaven, he said, "Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may also glorify you;

⁵ Now, Father, glorify me with your own self with the glory which I had with you before the world existed.

⁹ I pray for them. I do not pray for the world, but for those whom you have given me, for they are yours. ¹⁰ All things that are mine are yours, and yours are mine, and I am glorified in them. ¹¹ I am no more in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them through your name which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are.

¹³ But now I come to you, and I say these things in the world, that they may have my joy made full in themselves. ¹⁴ I have given them your word. The world hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

¹⁶ They are not of the world even as I am not of the world.

²⁶ I made known to them your name, and will make it known; that the love with which you loved me may be in them, and I in them."

⁴ Jesus therefore, knowing all the things that were happening to him, went forth, and said to them, "Who are you looking for?"

³⁷ No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

⁸ who will also strengthen you to the end, blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

²⁵ Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it; ²⁶ that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word,

⁶ but Christ is faithful as a Son over his house; whose house we are, if we hold fast our confidence and the boast of our hope.

¹⁴ For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our confidence firm to the end:

¹¹ We desire that each one of you may show the same diligence to the fullness of hope even to the end,

¹³ Therefore, prepare your minds for action, be sober and set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

¹⁹ We love, because he first loved us.

⁵ and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us, and freed us from our sins by his blood;

²⁷ Blessed be the LORD, the God of our fathers, who has put such a thing as this in the king's heart, to beautify the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem;

¹² I arose in the night, I and some few men with me. And I told no one what my God put into my heart to do for Jerusalem; neither was there any animal with me, except the animal that I rode on.

³ Satan entered into Judas, who was called Iscariot, who was numbered with the twelve.

³¹ And the Lord said, "Simon, Simon, look, Satan asked to have you, that he might sift you as wheat,

⁷⁰ Jesus answered them, "Did I not choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil?" ⁷¹ Now he spoke of Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, for it was he who would betray him, being one of the twelve.

⁴ arose from the meal, and removed his outer garments. He took a towel, and wrapped a towel around his waist.

²⁶ Jesus therefore answered, "It is he to whom I will give this piece of bread when I have dipped it." So when he had dipped the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot. ²⁷ After the piece of bread, then Satan entered into him. Then Jesus said to him, "What you do, do quickly."

³ But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit, and to keep back part of the price of the land?

¹⁶ But thanks be to God, who puts the same earnest care for you into the heart of Titus.

³ among whom we also all once lived in the lust of our flesh, doing the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.

¹³ Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God," for God cannot be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one. ¹⁴ But each one is tempted, when he is drawn away by his own lust, and enticed. ¹⁵ Then the lust, when it has conceived, bears sin; and the sin, when it is full grown, brings forth death. ¹⁶ Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers. ¹⁷ All generous giving and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, nor turning shadow.

¹⁷ For God has put in their hearts to do what he has in mind, and to be of one mind, and to give their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God should be accomplished.

²⁷ All things have been delivered to me by my Father. No one knows the Son, except the Father; neither does anyone know the Father, except the Son, and he to whom the Son desires to reveal him.

¹⁸ Jesus came to them and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.

²² "All things have been delivered to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is, except the Father, and who the Father is, except the Son, and he to whomever the Son desires to reveal him."

¹⁸ No one has seen God at any time. The only Son, who is at the Father's side, has made him known.

¹³ And no one has ascended into heaven, but he who descended out of heaven, the Son of Man, who is in heaven.

³⁵ The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into his hand.

²² For the Father judges no one, but he has given all judgment to the Son, ²³ that all may honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him. ²⁴ "Truly, truly, I tell you, he who hears my word, and believes him who sent me, has everlasting life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life. ²⁵ Truly, truly, I tell you, the hour comes, and now is, when the dead will hear the Son of God's voice; and those who hear will live. ²⁶ For as the Father has life in himself, even so he gave to the Son also to have life in himself. ²⁷ He also gave him authority to execute judgment, because he is the Son of Man.

²⁹ I know him, because I am from him, and he sent me."

³³ Then Jesus said, "I will be with you a little while longer, then I go to him who sent me.

⁴² Therefore Jesus said to them, "If God were your father, you would love me, for I came out and have come from God. For I have not come of myself, but he sent me.

²⁷ for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me, and have believed that I came forth from God. ²⁸ I came forth from the Father and have come into the world. Again, I leave the world, and go to the Father."

² even as you gave him authority over all flesh, he will give everlasting life to all whom you have given him.

⁵ Now, Father, glorify me with your own self with the glory which I had with you before the world existed. ⁶ I revealed your name to the people whom you have given me out of the world. They were yours, and you have given them to me. They have kept your word. ⁷ Now they have known that all things whatever you have given me are from you, ⁸ for the words which you have given me I have given to them, and they received them, and knew for sure that I came forth from you, and they have believed that you sent me.

¹¹ I am no more in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them through your name which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are. ¹² While I was with them, I kept them in your name which you have given me, and I guarded them, and not one of them perished, except the son of destruction, that the Scripture might be fulfilled. ¹³ But now I come to you, and I say these things in the world, that they may have my joy made full in themselves.

³⁶ "Let all the house of Israel therefore know certainly that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified."

²⁷ For, "He put all things under his feet." But when he says "all things" are put under, it is evident that the one who put all things under is the exception.

²¹ far above all rule, and authority, and power, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in that which is to come. ²² He put all things under his feet, and gave him to be head over all things for the church,

⁹ Therefore God also highly exalted him, and gave to him the name which is above every name; ¹⁰ that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth, ¹¹ and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

² in these last days has spoken to us by a Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom also he made the ages.

⁸ You have put all things under his feet." For in that he put all things under him, he left nothing that is not under him. But now we do not yet see that all things are under him. ⁹ But we see him who has been made a little lower than the angels, Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that by the grace of God he should taste of death for everyone.

³⁷ Blessed are those servants, whom the lord will find watching when he comes. Truly I tell you, that he will dress himself, and make them recline, and will come and serve them.

⁷ But who is there among you, having a servant plowing or keeping sheep, that will say, when he comes in from the field, 'Come immediately and sit down at the table'?

²⁷ For who is greater, one who sits at the table, or one who serves? Is it not he who sits at the table? But I am in the midst of you as one who serves.

⁹ For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that you through his poverty might become rich.

⁶ who, existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God a thing to be grasped, ⁷ but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men. ⁸ And being found in human form, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to death, yes, the death of the cross.

⁴ Now let a little water be brought, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree.

² and he said, "See now, my lords, please turn aside into your servant's house, and stay all night, and wash your feet, then you may rise up early, and go on your way." They said, "No, but we will stay in the street all night."

⁴ You shall bring Aaron and his sons to the door of the Tent of Meeting, and shall wash them with water.

⁸ "He who is to be cleansed shall wash his clothes, and shave off all his hair, and bathe himself in water; and he shall be clean. After that he shall come into the camp, but shall dwell outside his tent seven days.

⁴¹ She arose, and bowed herself with her face to the earth, and said, "Look, your handmaid is a servant to wash the feet of the servants of my lord."

¹¹ But Jehoshaphat said, "Isn't there here a prophet of the LORD, that we may inquire of the LORD by him?" One of the king of Israel's servants answered, "Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who poured water on the hands of Elijah."

¹⁰ Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, "Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall come again to you, and you shall be clean." ¹¹ But Naaman was angry, and went away, and said, "Look, I thought, 'He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and wave his hand over the place, and heal the leper.' ¹² Aren't Abanah and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Couldn't I go wash in them, and be clean?" So he turned and went away in a rage. ¹³ His servants came near, and spoke to him, and said, "My father, if the prophet had asked you to do some great thing, wouldn't you have done it? How much rather then, when he says to you, 'Wash, and be clean?'"

² Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity. Cleanse me from my sin.

¹⁶ Wash yourselves, make yourself clean. Put away the evil of your doings from before my eyes. Cease to do evil.

²⁵ I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.

¹ "In that day there will be a spring opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, for sin and for uncleanness.

³⁸ Standing behind at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears, and she wiped them with the hair of her head, kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.

⁴⁴ Turning to the woman, he said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? I entered into your house, and you gave me no water for my feet, but she has wet my feet with her tears, and wiped them with her hair.

⁸ Peter said to him, "You will never wash my feet." Jesus answered him, "If I do not wash you, you have no part with me."

¹⁰ Jesus said to him, "Someone who has bathed only needs to have his feet washed, but is completely clean. You are clean, but not all of you."

¹² So when he had washed their feet, put his outer garment back on, and sat down again, he said to them, "Do you know what I have done to you? ¹³ You call me, 'Teacher' and 'Lord.' ³⁴ However one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.

¹⁶ Now why do you wait? Arise, be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on his name.'

¹¹ Such were some of you, but you were washed. But you were sanctified. But you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in the Spirit of our God.

²⁶ that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word,

¹⁰ being approved by good works, if she has brought up children, if she has been hospitable to strangers, if she has washed the saints' feet, if she has relieved the afflicted, and if she has diligently followed every good work.

³ For we were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. ⁴ But when the kindness of God our Savior and his love toward humankind appeared, ⁵ not by works of righteousness, which we did ourselves, but according to his mercy, he saved us, through the washing of rebirth and renewing by the Holy Spirit,

²² let us draw near with a true heart in fullness of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and having our body washed with pure water,

⁷ But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.

⁶ This is he who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and the blood. It is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.

¹⁴ So I said to him, "My lord, you know." He said to me, "These are the ones who came out of the great tribulation. They washed their robes, and made them white in the Lamb's blood.

¹¹ I indeed baptize you in water for repentance, but the one who comes after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit and with fire. ¹² His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his threshing floor. He will gather his wheat into the barn, but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire." ¹³ Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized by him. ¹⁴ But John would have hindered him, saying, "I need to be baptized by you, and you come to me?"

⁸ But Simon Peter, when he saw it, fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, "Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, Lord."

²⁷ He is the one who comes after me, whose sandal strap I'm not worthy to loosen."

²⁴ Look, the mounds, they have come to the city to take it; and the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans who fight against it, because of the sword, and of the famine, and of the pestilence; and what you have spoken has happened; and look, you see it. ²⁵ You have said to me, Lord GOD, "Buy the field for money, and call witnesses"; whereas the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.'"

⁴³ Fields shall be bought in this land, about which you say, "It is desolate, without man or animal; it is given into the hand of the Chaldeans."

⁸ And I heard, but I did not understand. Then I said, "My lord, what shall be the outcome of these things?"

¹² Blessed is he who waits, and comes to the one thousand three hundred thirty-five days.

¹ I will stand at my watch, and set myself on the ramparts, and will look out to see what he will say to me, and what I will answer concerning my complaint. ² The LORD answered me, "Write the vision, and make it plain on tablets, that he who runs may read it. ³ For the vision is yet for the appointed time, and it hurries toward the end, and won't prove false. Though it takes time, wait for it; because it will surely come, and it won't delay.

¹⁶ His disciples did not understand these things at first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written about him, and that they had done these things to him.

¹⁰ Jesus said to him, "Someone who has bathed only needs to have his feet washed, but is completely clean. ³⁶ Simon Peter said to him, "Lord, where are you going?" Jesus answered, "Where I am going, you cannot follow now, but you will follow afterwards."

²⁶ But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I said to you.

⁷ Be patient therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. Look, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient over it, until it receives the early and late rain. ⁸ You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near. ⁹ Do not grumble, brothers, against one another, so that you won't be judged. Look, the judge stands at the door. ¹⁰ Take, brothers, for an example of suffering and of patience, the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. ¹¹ Look, we call them blessed who endured. You have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the Lord in the outcome, and how the Lord is full of compassion and mercy.

³⁸ But he said, "My son will not go down with you, for his brother is dead, and he alone is left. If harm should happen to him on the journey you are taking, then you will bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to Sheol."

⁴ when the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from its midst, by the spirit of justice, and by the spirit of burning.

⁴ As for your birth, in the day you were born your navel was not cut, neither were you washed in water to cleanse you; you weren't salted at all, nor swaddled at all. ⁵ No eye pitied you, to do any of these things to you, to have compassion on you; but you were cast out in the open field, for that your person was abhorred, in the day that you were born. ⁶ "'And I passed by you and saw you wallowing in your blood, and I said to you in your blood: 'Live.' ⁷ I caused you to multiply as that which grows in the field, and you increased and grew great, and you attained to excellent ornament; your breasts were fashioned, and your hair was grown; yet you were naked and bare. ⁸ "'Now when I passed by you, and looked at you, look, your time was the time of love; and I spread my skirt over you, and covered your nakedness: yes, I swore to you, and entered into a covenant with you,' says the Lord GOD, 'and you became mine. ⁹ "'Then I washed you with water; yes, I thoroughly washed away your blood from you, and I anointed you with oil.

²² Peter took him aside, and began to rebuke him, saying, "Far be it from you, Lord. This will never be done to you."

²⁹ He answered, 'I will not,' but afterward he changed his mind, and went.

³³ But Peter answered him, "Even if all will be made to stumble because of you, I will never be made to stumble."

³⁵ Peter said to him, "Even if I must die with you, I will not deny you." All of the disciples also said likewise.

⁵ Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I tell you, unless one is born of water and Spirit he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God.

⁶ Then he came to Simon Peter. He said to him, "Lord, do you wash my feet?"

¹⁸ Let no one rob you of your prize by a voluntary humility and worshipping of the angels, dwelling in the things which he has seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,

²³ Which things indeed appear like wisdom in self-imposed worship, and humility, and severity to the body; but are not of any value against the indulgence of the flesh.

⁵ not by works of righteousness, which we did ourselves, but according to his mercy, he saved us, through the washing of rebirth and renewing by the Holy Spirit,

²² According to the Law, nearly everything is cleansed with blood, and apart from shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. ²³ It was necessary therefore that the copies of the things in the heavens should be cleansed with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.

⁴ For it is impossible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sins. ⁵ Therefore when he comes into the world, he says, "Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me. ⁶ Whole burnt offerings and sin-offerings you took no pleasure in. ⁷ Then I said, 'Look, I have come. It is written about me in the scroll of a book; to do your will, God.'" ⁸ Previously saying, "Sacrifices and offerings and whole burnt offerings and sin-offerings you did not desire, nor took pleasure in” (which are offered according to the Law), ⁹ then he said, “Look, I have come to do your will.” He takes away the first, that he may establish the second, ¹⁰ by which will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

⁶ I will wash my hands in innocence, so I will go about your altar, LORD;

⁷ Purify me with hyssop, and I will be clean. Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.

¹⁴ Jerusalem, wash your heart from wickedness, that you may be saved. How long shall your evil thoughts lodge within you?

²⁴ So Pilate, seeing that nothing was being gained, but rather that a disturbance was starting, took water and he washed his hands before the crowd, saying, "I am innocent of the blood of this righteous man. You see to it."

²¹ This is a symbol of baptism, which now saves you—not the removal of dirt from the body, but an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

²⁶ "He who lets the goat go for the scapegoat shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp.

²⁸ He who burns them shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp.

¹⁵ "'Every person that eats what dies of itself, or that which is torn by animals, whether he is native-born or a foreigner, he shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the evening: then he shall be clean. ¹⁶ But if he doesn't wash them, or bathe his flesh, then he shall bear his iniquity.'"

⁷ Then the priest shall wash his clothes, and he shall bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp, and the priest shall be unclean until the evening. ⁸ He who burns her shall wash his clothes in water, and bathe his flesh in water, and shall be unclean until the evening.

¹² the same shall purify himself with water on the third day, and on the seventh day he shall be clean: but if he doesn't purify himself the third day, then the seventh day he shall not be clean. ¹³ Whoever touches a dead person, the body of a man who has died, and doesn't purify himself, defiles the tabernacle of the LORD; and that soul shall be cut off from Israel: because the water for impurity was not sprinkled on him, he shall be unclean; his uncleanness is yet on him.

¹⁹ and the clean person shall sprinkle on the unclean on the third day, and on the seventh day: and on the seventh day he shall purify him; and he shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and shall be clean at evening. ²⁰ But the man who shall be unclean, and shall not purify himself, that soul shall be cut off from the midst of the assembly, because he has defiled the sanctuary of the LORD: the water for impurity has not been sprinkled on him; he is unclean. ²¹ It shall be a perpetual statute to them: and he who sprinkles the water for impurity shall wash his clothes, and he who touches the water for impurity shall be unclean until evening.

²⁰ Surely there is not a righteous man on earth, who does good and doesn't sin.

⁷ You are all beautiful, my love. There is no spot in you.

²⁰ In those days, and in that time, says the LORD, the iniquity of Israel shall be sought for, and there shall be none; and the sins of Judah, and they shall not be found: for I will pardon them whom I leave as a remnant."'"

¹² And forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors.

³ You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.

²⁰ But if what I do not desire, that I do, it is no more I that do it, but sin which dwells in me. ²¹ I find then the law, that, to me, while I desire to do good, evil is present. ²² For I delight in God's law in my inner being, ²³ but I see a different law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity under the law of sin which is in my members.

¹⁷ Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Look, new things have come.

²¹ For him who knew no sin he made to be sin on our behalf; so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

¹ Having therefore these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

²² that you put away, as concerning your former way of life, the old self, that grows corrupt after the lusts of deceit; ²³ and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind, ²⁴ and put on the new self, who in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of truth.

²⁶ that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word, ²⁷ that he might present the church to himself gloriously, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

²³ May the God of peace himself sanctify you completely. May your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹⁰ but deal only with foods and drinks and various washings; they are regulations for the flesh imposed until the time of setting things right.

² For in many things we all stumble. If anyone does not stumble in word, this one is a perfect person, able to bridle the whole body also.

⁷ But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin. ⁸ If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. ⁹ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. ¹⁰ If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

²⁴ The Son of Man goes, even as it is written of him, but woe to that man through whom the Son of Man is betrayed. It would be better for that man if he had not been born." ²⁵ Judas, who betrayed him, answered, "It is not me, is it, Rabbi?" He said to him, "You said it."

²⁵ and because he did not need anyone to testify concerning man; for he himself knew what was in man.

⁶⁴ But there are some of you who do not believe." For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who it was who would betray him. ⁶⁵ He said, "For this cause have I said to you that no one can come to me, unless it is given to him by the Father." ⁶⁶ At this, many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. ⁶⁷ Jesus said therefore to the twelve, "You do not also want to go away, do you?" ⁶⁸ Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of everlasting life. ⁶⁹ We have come to believe and know that you are the Holy One of God."

² And during the meal, the devil had already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him.

¹⁸ I do not speak concerning all of you. I know whom I have chosen. But that the Scripture may be fulfilled, 'He who ate my bread has lifted up his heel against me.'

²¹ When Jesus had said this, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, "Truly, truly, I tell you that one of you will betray me."

²⁶ Jesus therefore answered, "It is he to whom I will give this piece of bread when I have dipped it." So when he had dipped the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot.

¹² While I was with them, I kept them in your name which you have given me, and I guarded them, and not one of them perished, except the son of destruction, that the Scripture might be fulfilled.

¹⁹ The people said to me, "Won't you tell us what these things are to us, that you do so?"

²⁴ Thus Ezekiel shall be a sign to you; according to all that he has done, you will do. When this comes, then you will know that I am the Lord GOD."'"

⁵¹ "Have you understood all these things?" They answered him, "Yes, Lord."

¹³ And he said to them, "Do you not understand this parable? And how will you understand all of the parables?

⁷ Jesus answered him, "You do not know what I am doing now, but you will understand later."

¹² Then the LORD said to me, "You have seen well; for I watch over my word to perform it."

²¹ Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. ²² Many will tell me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, did not we prophesy in your name, in your name cast out demons, and in your name do many mighty works?'

⁸ But you are not to be called 'Rabbi,' for one is your Teacher, and all of you are brothers. ⁹ Call no man on the earth your father, for one is your Father, he who is in heaven. ¹⁰ Neither be called masters, for one is your master, the Christ.

⁴⁶ "Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do the things which I say?

⁴³ Simon answered, "He, I suppose, to whom he forgave the most." He said to him, "You have judged correctly."

²⁸ He said to him, "You have answered correctly. Do this, and you will live."

²⁸ And when she had said this, she went away, and called Mary, her sister, secretly, saying, "The Teacher is here, and is calling you."

⁸ For if we live, we live to the Lord. Or if we die, we die to the Lord. If therefore we live or die, we are the Lord's. ⁹ For to this end Christ died, and lived again, that he might be Lord of both the dead and the living.

⁶ yet to us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things, and we for him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and we live through him.

³ Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by God's Spirit says, "Jesus is accursed." No one can say, "Jesus is Lord," but by the Holy Spirit.

¹¹ and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

⁸ More than that, I count all things to be a loss compared to the far greater value of knowing Christ Jesus, my Lord, for whom I suffered the loss of all things, and count them nothing but refuse, that I may gain Christ

¹⁹ You believe that God is one. You do well. The demons also believe, and shudder.

¹⁴ knowing that the putting off of my tent comes swiftly, even as our Lord Jesus Christ made clear to me. ¹⁵ Yes, I will make every effort that you may always be able to remember these things even after my departure. ¹⁶ For we did not follow cunningly devised tales, when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

²⁶ It will not be so among you, but whoever desires to become great among you must be your servant. ²⁷ And whoever desires to be first among you must be your slave, ²⁸ even as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

⁴³ But it will not be so among you, but whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant. ⁴⁴ And whoever wants to be first among you must be slave of all. ⁴⁵ For the Son of Man also did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

²⁶ But not so with you. But one who is the greater among you, let him become as the younger, and one who is governing, as one who serves. ²⁷ For who is greater, one who sits at the table, or one who serves? Is it not he who sits at the table? But I am in the midst of you as one who serves.

³⁵ In all things I gave you an example, that so laboring you ought to help the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that he himself said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'"

¹⁰ In love of the brothers be tenderly affectionate one to another; outdo one another in showing honor;

¹⁶ Be of the same mind one toward another. Do not be arrogant, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own conceits.

¹ Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of the weak, and not to please ourselves. ² Let each one of us please his neighbor for that which is good, to be building him up. ³ For even Christ did not please himself. But, as it is written, "The insults of those who insult you fell on me."

¹³ Therefore, if food causes my brother to stumble, I will eat no meat forevermore, that I do not cause my brother to stumble.

¹⁹ For though I was free from all, I brought myself under bondage to all, that I might gain the more. ²⁰ To the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain Jews; to those who are under the law, as under the law, not being myself under the law, that I might gain those who are under the law; ²¹ to those who are without law, as without law (not being without law toward God, but under law toward Christ), that I might win those who are without law. ²² To the weak I became as weak, that I might gain the weak. I have become all things to all people, that I may by all means save some.

¹ Now I Paul, myself, entreat you by the humility and gentleness of Christ; I who in your presence am lowly among you, but being absent am of good courage toward you.

¹³ For you, brothers, were called for freedom. Only do not use your freedom for gain to the flesh, but through love be servants to one another.

¹ Brothers, even if someone is caught in some wrongdoing, you who are spiritual must restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; looking to yourself so that you also are not tempted. ² Bear one another's burdens, and so you will fulfill the law of Christ.

² make my joy full, by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind; ³ doing nothing through rivalry or through conceit, but in humility, each counting others better than himself; ⁴ each of you not just looking to his own things, but each of you also to the things of others. ⁵ Have this in your mind, which was also in Christ Jesus,

⁸ Although he was a Son, he learned obedience by the things which he suffered. ⁹ Having been made perfect, he became to all of those who obey him the author of everlasting salvation,

² looking to Jesus, the founder and completer of the faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

¹ Forasmuch then as Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind; for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin;

⁵ Likewise, you younger ones, be subject to the elder. Yes, all of you clothe yourselves with humility, towards one another; for God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.

²⁹ Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls.

⁵ Now the God of patience and of encouragement grant you to be of the same mind one with another according to Christ Jesus,

² And walk in love, even as Christ also loved us, and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling fragrance.

²¹ For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow his steps,

¹⁷ For it is better, if it is God's will, that you suffer for doing well than for doing evil. ¹⁸ Because Christ also suffered for sins once, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring you to God; being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit;

⁶ he who says he remains in him ought himself also to walk just like he walked.

²⁴ "A disciple is not above the teacher, nor a servant above his lord. ²⁵ It is enough for the disciple that he be like his teacher, and the servant like his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more those of his household.

⁴⁰ A disciple is not above the teacher, but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher.

³ Jesus answered him, "Truly, truly, I tell you, unless one is born again he cannot see the Kingdom of God."

²⁰ Remember the word that I said to you: 'A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will keep yours also.

²² Thus Noah did. According to all that God commanded him, so he did.

¹⁶ Moses did so. According to all that the LORD commanded him, so he did.

¹¹ Moreover by them is your servant warned. In keeping them there is great reward.

¹ ALEPH. Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the LORD. ² Blessed are those who keep his decrees, who seek him with their whole heart. ³ Yes, they do nothing wrong. They walk in his ways. ⁴ You have commanded your precepts, that we should fully obey them. ⁵ Oh that my ways were steadfast to obey your statutes.

²⁷ I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and you shall keep my ordinances, and do them.

²⁴ "Everyone therefore who hears these words of mine, and does them, will be compared to a wise man, who built his house on a rock. ²⁵ And the rain came down, the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.

⁵⁰ For whoever does the will of my Father who is in heaven, he is my brother, and sister, and mother."

³⁸ This is the great and first commandment. ³⁹ A second likewise is this, 'You are to love your neighbor as yourself.' ⁴⁰ The whole Law and the Prophets depend on these two commandments." ⁴¹ Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question,

²⁸ But he said, "On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God, and keep it."

⁴⁷ That servant, who knew his lord's will, and did not prepare, nor do what he wanted, will be beaten with many stripes, ⁴⁸ but he who did not know, and did things worthy of stripes, will be beaten with few stripes. To whomever much is given, of him will much be required; and to whom much was entrusted, of him more will be asked.

¹⁴ You are my friends, if you do whatever I command you.

¹⁴ For the love of Christ constrains us; because we judge thus, that one died for all, therefore all died. ¹⁵ He died for all, that those who live should no longer live to themselves, but to him who for their sakes died and rose again.

⁶ For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision amounts to anything, nor uncircumcision, but faith working through love.

⁷ By faith, Noah, being warned about things not yet seen, in reverence prepared a box-shaped vessel for the salvation of his household, through which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith. ⁸ By faith, Abraham, when he was called, obeyed to go out to a place which he was to receive for an inheritance. He went out, not knowing where he was going.

²⁵ But he who looks into the perfect Law of freedom, and continues, not being a hearer who forgets, but a doer of the work, this person will be blessed in what he does.

²⁰ But do you want to know, foolish person, that faith apart from works is useless? ²¹ Wasn't Abraham our father justified by works, in that he offered up Isaac his son on the altar? ²² You see that faith worked with his works, and by works faith was perfected; ²³ and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "And Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness;" and he was called the friend of God. ²⁴ You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.

¹⁷ To him therefore who knows to do good, and does not do it, to him it is sin.

¹⁴ Blessed are they who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter in by the gates into the city.

⁹ Even my own close friend, in whom I trusted, who ate my bread, has lifted up his heel against me.

³⁶ And a person's foes will be those of his own household.

²³ He answered, "He who dipped his hand with me in the dish, the same will betray me.

²⁰ He said to them, "It is one of the twelve, he who dips with me in the dish.

⁷⁰ Jesus answered them, "Did I not choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil?"

¹⁰ Jesus said to him, "Someone who has bathed only needs to have his feet washed, but is completely clean. You are clean, but not all of you." ¹¹ For he knew him who would betray him, therefore he said, "You are not all clean."

¹⁶ You did not choose me, but I chose you, and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whatever you will ask of the Father in my name, he may give it to you.

¹⁹ If you were of the world, the world would love its own. But because you are not of the world, since I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

¹⁷ He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" Peter was grieved because he asked him the third time, "Do you love me?" And he said to him, "Lord, you know everything. You know that I love you." Jesus said to him, "Feed my sheep.

⁵ For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your slaves because of Jesus.

¹³ There is no creature that is hidden from his sight, but all things are naked and laid open before the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

²³ I will kill her children with Death, and all the churches will know that I am he who searches the minds and hearts. I will give to each one of you according to your deeds.

²³ Declare the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that you are gods. Yes, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and see it together.

¹⁰ "You are my witnesses," says the LORD, "With my servant whom I have chosen; that you may know and believe me, and understand that I am he. Before me there was no God formed, neither will there be after me.

⁵ therefore I have declared it to you from of old; before it came to pass I showed it to you; lest you should say, 'My idol has done them, and my engraved image, and my molten image, has commanded them.'

¹ "Look, I send my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me; and the Lord, whom you seek, will suddenly come to his temple; and the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, look, he comes." says the LORD of hosts.

³ and said to him, "Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?"

²⁵ "See, I have told you beforehand.

¹³ It will turn out as a testimony for you.

¹⁵ John testified about him and shouted out, saying, "This was the one of whom I said, 'He who comes after me has surpassed me, for he was before me.'"

²³ He said to them, "You are from beneath. I am from above. You are of this world. I am not of this world. ²⁴ I said therefore to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am he, you will die in your sins."

⁵⁸ Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I tell you, before Abraham came into existence, I AM."

²⁹ Now I have told you before it happens so that, when it happens, you may believe.

⁴ But I have told you these things, so that when their hour comes, you may remember that I told you about them. I did not tell you these things from the beginning, because I was with you.

¹⁷ When I saw him, I fell at his feet like a dead man. He laid his right hand on me, saying, "Do not be afraid. I am the first and the last, ¹⁸ and the Living one. I was dead, but look, I am alive forevermore. I have the keys of Death and of hell.

⁴⁰ Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me. ⁴¹ The one who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet will receive a prophet's reward. The one who receives a righteous person in the name of a righteous person will receive a righteous person's reward. ⁴² And whoever gives one of these little ones just a cup of cold water to drink because he is a disciple, truly I tell you he will in no way lose his reward."

⁴⁰ "The King will answer them, 'Truly I tell you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.'

³⁷ "Whoever receives one such little child in my name, receives me, and whoever receives me, does not receive me, but him who sent me."

⁴⁸ and said to them, "Whoever receives this little child in my name receives me. Whoever receives me receives him who sent me. For whoever is least among you all, this one is great."

¹⁶ Whoever listens to you listens to me, and whoever rejects you rejects me. Whoever rejects me rejects him who sent me."

⁴⁴ Then Jesus shouted out and said, "Whoever believes in me, believes not in me, but in him who sent me. ⁴⁵ And he who sees me sees him who sent me. ⁴⁶ I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in me may not remain in the darkness. ⁴⁷ And if anyone hears my words and does not keep them, I do not judge him. For I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. ⁴⁸ He who rejects me, and does not accept my words, has one who judges him. The word that I spoke will judge him on the last day.

¹⁴ and though my condition was a trial to you, you did not despise nor reject; but you received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus.

⁶ As therefore you received Christ Jesus, the Lord, walk in him,

⁸ Therefore he who rejects this does not reject man, but God, who has also given his Holy Spirit to you.

²¹ As they were eating, he said, "Truly I tell you that one of you will betray me."

³⁸ Then he said to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here, and watch with me."

⁵ And when he had looked around at them with anger, being grieved at the hardening of their hearts, he said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." He stretched it out, and his hand was restored.

¹⁸ And as they were reclining and eating, Jesus said, "Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me—he who eats with me."

²¹ But look, the hand of him who betrays me is with me on the table. ²² The Son of Man indeed goes, as it has been determined, but woe to that man through whom he is betrayed."

³³ When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Judeans weeping who came with her, he was deeply moved in spirit and was troubled,

³⁵ Jesus wept.

³⁸ So Jesus, deeply moved again, came to the tomb. Now it was a cave, and a stone lay against it.

²⁷ "Now my soul is troubled. And what should I say? 'Father, save me from this hour?' But for this cause I came to this hour.

¹⁶ "Brothers, it was necessary that this Scripture should be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who was guide to those who took Jesus. ¹⁷ For he was numbered with us, and received his portion in this ministry.

¹⁶ Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was provoked within him as he saw the city full of idols.

² that I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. ³ For I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ for my brothers' sake, my physical relatives according to the flesh,

¹² Now when I came to Troas for the Good News of Christ, and when a door was opened to me in the Lord, ¹³ I had no relief for my spirit, because I did not find Titus, my brother, but taking my leave of them, I went out into Macedonia.

¹⁹ They went out from us, but they did not belong to us; for if they had belonged to us, they would have continued with us. But they left, that they might be revealed that none of them belong to us.

¹ Now Jacob learned that there was grain in Egypt, so Jacob said to his sons, "Why do you look at one another?"

²² And they were greatly distressed, and each one began to ask him, "It is not me, is it, Lord?"

¹⁹ And they began to be sorrowful, and to say to him one by one, "Surely not I?" And another said, "Surely not I?"

²³ They began to question among themselves, which of them it was who would do this thing.

³ but the poor man had nothing, except one little ewe lamb, which he had bought and raised. It grew up together with him, and with his children. It ate of his own food, drank of his own cup, and lay in his bosom, and was to him like a daughter.

³ The sisters therefore sent to him, saying, "Lord, look, the one you love is sick."

⁵ Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.

³⁶ The Judeans therefore said, "See how he loved him."

²⁵ He, leaning back, as he was, on Jesus' chest, asked him, "Lord, who is it?"

²⁶ Therefore when Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing there, he said to his mother, "Woman, look, your son."

² Therefore she ran and came to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and said to them, "They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have put him."

⁷ That disciple therefore whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It's the Lord." So when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he wrapped his coat around him (for he was naked), and threw himself into the sea.

²⁰ Then Peter, turning around, saw a disciple following. This was the disciple whom Jesus sincerely loved, the one who had also leaned on Jesus' chest at the evening meal and asked, "Lord, who is going to betray You?"

²⁴ This is the disciple who testifies about these things, and wrote these things. We know that his witness is true.

¹⁶ He had seven stars in his right hand. Out of his mouth proceeded a sharp two-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining at its brightest.

²² When he came out, he could not speak to them, and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple. He continued making signs to them, and remained mute.

⁷ They beckoned to their partners in the other boat, that they should come and help them. They came, and filled both boats, so that they began to sink.

¹⁷ But he, beckoning to them with his hand to be silent, declared to them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. He said, "Tell these things to James, and to the brothers." Then he departed, and went to another place.

¹⁶ Paul stood up, and beckoning with his hand said, "Men of Israel, and you who fear God, listen.

⁴⁰ When he had given him permission, Paul, standing on the stairs, beckoned with his hand to the people. When there was a great silence, he spoke to them in the Hebrew language, saying,

⁴ When they were far from the city, Joseph said to his manager, "Up, go after the men, and when you overtake them, ask them, 'Why have you repaid evil for good? ⁵ Why have you stolen my silver cup? Isnʼt it from this that my lord drinks and by which he indeed uses for divination? You have done evil in doing this.'" ⁶ And he caught up with them and spoke these words to them. ⁷ But they said to him, "Why does my lord speak such words as these? Far be it from your servants that they should do such a thing. ⁸ Look, the money that we found in the mouths of our sacks we brought back to you from the land of Canaan. How then could we steal silver or gold from your lordʼs house? ⁹ With whomever of your servants it is found, he must die, and we also will be my lordʼs slaves." ¹⁰ And he said, "Very well, then, it will be as you say. The one with whom it is found will be my slave, but you will be blameless." ¹¹ Then they hurried, and each man lowered his sack to the ground, and each man opened his sack. ¹² And he searched, beginning with the oldest, and ending at the youngest. And the cup was found in Benjaminʼs sack.

⁵ Then King Achashyerosh said to Esther the queen, "Who is he, and where is he who dared presume in his heart to do so?"

¹⁹ And they began to be sorrowful, and to say to him one by one, "Surely not I?" And another said, "Surely not I?" ²⁰ He said to them, "It is one of the twelve, he who dips with me in the dish.

²¹ But look, the hand of him who betrays me is with me on the table.

⁴ Then Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples, who would betray him, said, ⁵ "Why was this ointment not sold for three hundred denarii, and given to the poor?" ⁶ Now he said this, not because he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and having the money box, used to steal what was put into it.

³⁰ Therefore, having received the piece of bread, he went out immediately; and it was night.

²⁷ And it came about, at noon, that Elijah mocked them, and said, "Cry aloud, for he is a god. Maybe he is thinking about it, or he is busy, or he is on a trip, or perhaps he is sleeping and must be awakened."

⁶ Set a wicked man over him. Let an adversary stand at his right hand.

¹⁶ for their feet run to evil. They hurry to shed blood.

³ This is an evil in all that is done under the sun, that there is one event to all: yes also, the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they live, and after that they go to the dead.

²⁴ a wild donkey used to the wilderness, that snuffs up the wind in her desire. When she is in heat, who can turn her away? All those who seek her will not weary themselves. In her month, they will find her. ²⁵ "Withhold your foot from being unshod, and your throat from thirst. But you said, 'It is in vain. No, for I have loved strangers, and I will go after them.'

¹⁵ he answered Arioch the king's captain, "Why is the decree so urgent from the king?" Then Arioch made the thing known to Daniel.

⁴⁵ Then he goes, and takes with himself seven other spirits more evil than he is, and they enter in and dwell there. The last state of that person becomes worse than the first. Even so will it be also to this evil generation."

²⁵ And she came in immediately with haste to the king, and asked, "I want you to give me right now the head of John the Baptist on a platter."

³² Now there was there a herd of many pigs feeding on the mountain, and they begged him that he would allow them to enter into those. He allowed them. ³³ The demons came out from the man, and entered into the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake, and were drowned.

¹³ Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God," for God cannot be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one. ¹⁴ But each one is tempted, when he is drawn away by his own lust, and enticed. ¹⁵ Then the lust, when it has conceived, bears sin; and the sin, when it is full grown, brings forth death.

³⁴ You yourselves know that these hands served my necessities, and those who were with me. ³⁵ In all things I gave you an example, that so laboring you ought to help the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that he himself said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'"

¹⁰ They only asked us to remember the poor—which very thing I was also zealous to do.

²⁸ Let him who stole steal no more; but rather let him labor, working with his hands the thing that is good, that he may have something to give to him who has need.

¹³ "These are of those who rebel against the light. They do not know its ways, nor abide in its paths. ¹⁴ The murderer rises with the light. He kills the poor and needy. In the night he is like a thief. ¹⁵ The eye also of the adulterer waits for the twilight, saying, 'No eye shall see me.' He disguises his face.

¹⁶ For they do not sleep, unless they do evil. Their sleep is taken away, unless they make someone fall.

⁷ Their feet run to evil, and they are swift to shed innocent blood. Their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; destruction and calamity are in their paths.

¹⁵ "Their feet are swift to shed blood.

³ and he said to me, "You are my servant; Israel, in whom I will be glorified." ⁴ But I said, "I have labored in vain, I have spent my strength for nothing and vanity; yet surely the justice due to me is with the LORD, and my reward with my God." ⁵ Now says the LORD who formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, and that Israel be gathered to him; for I am honorable in the eyes of the LORD, and my God has become my strength. ⁶ And he says, "It is too light a thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel; I will also give you as a light to the nations, that you may bring salvation to the farthest part of the earth."

¹⁰ The angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for see, I bring you good news of great joy which will be to all the people. ¹¹ For there is born to you, this day, in the city of David, a Savior, who is Christ, the Lord. ¹² This is the sign to you: you will find a baby wrapped in strips of cloth, lying in a feeding trough." ¹³ Suddenly, there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly army praising God, and saying, ¹⁴ "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward humankind."

⁵⁰ But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how distressed I am until it is accomplished.

³⁹ But he said this about the Spirit, which those believing in him were to receive. For the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

⁴ But when Jesus heard it, he said, "This sickness is not to death, but for the glory of God, that God's Son may be glorified by it."

²⁸ Father, glorify your name." Then there came a voice out of the sky, saying, "I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again."

¹³ And whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

¹⁴ He will glorify me, for he will take from what is mine, and will declare it to you.

¹ Jesus said these things, and lifting up his eyes to heaven, he said, "Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may also glorify you; ² even as you gave him authority over all flesh, he will give everlasting life to all whom you have given him. ³ This is everlasting life, that they may know you, the only true God, and him whom you sent, Jesus Christ. ⁴ I glorified you on the earth by accomplishing the work which you have given me to do. ⁵ Now, Father, glorify me with your own self with the glory which I had with you before the world existed. ⁶ I revealed your name to the people whom you have given me out of the world. They were yours, and you have given them to me. They have kept your word.

¹³ The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his Servant Jesus, whom you delivered up, and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had determined to release him.

⁶ that with one accord you may with one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. ⁷ Therefore accept one another, even as Christ also accepted you, to the glory of God. ⁸ Now I say that Christ has been made a servant of the circumcision for the truth of God, that he might confirm the promises given to the fathers, ⁹ and that the non-Jews might glorify God for his mercy. As it is written, "therefore I will give praise to you among the non-Jews, and sing to your name."

¹⁸ But we all, with unveiled face looking as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord, the Spirit.

⁴ in whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, so they would not see the light of the glorious Good News of Christ, who is the image of God. ⁵ For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your slaves because of Jesus. ⁶ For it is God, who spoke for light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

⁵ having predestined us for adoption as children through Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his desire, ⁶ to the praise of the glory of his grace, which he freely bestowed on us in the Beloved One, ⁷ in whom we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, ⁸ which he made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence,

¹² to the end that we should be to the praise of his glory, we who had before hoped in Christ:

⁷ that in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus;

¹⁰ to the intent that now through the church the manifold wisdom of God might be made known to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places,

¹⁴ wiping out the handwriting in ordinances which was against us; and he has taken it out of the way, nailing it to the cross; ¹⁵ having disarmed the rulers and authorities, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

⁵ So also Christ did not glorify himself to be made a high priest, but it was he who said to him, "You are my Son. Today I have become your Father." ⁶ As he says also in another place, "You are a priest forever, after the order of Melchizedek." ⁷ In the days of his flesh, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to him who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverence.

²¹ who through him are believers in God, who raised him from the dead, and gave him glory; so that your faith and hope might be in God.

¹¹ If anyone speaks, let it be as it were the very words of God. If anyone serves, let it be as of the strength which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

⁹ They sang a new song, saying, "You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals: for you were killed, and redeemed for God with your blood those from every tribe, language, people, and nation, ¹⁰ and made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they will reign on earth." ¹¹ I saw, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousands of ten thousands, and thousands of thousands; ¹² saying with a loud voice, "Worthy is the Lamb who has been killed to receive the power, wealth, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and blessing." ¹³ I heard every created thing which is in heaven, on the earth, under the earth, on the sea, and everything in them, saying, "To him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb be the blessing, the honor, the glory, and the dominion, forever and ever." ¹⁴ The four living creatures were saying, "Amen." The elders fell down and worshiped.

¹⁰ Yet the LORD was pleased to crush him and make him ill. Although his soul is made a reparation offering, he will see his offspring, he will prolong his days, and the desire of the LORD will succeed by his hand. ¹¹ After the suffering of his soul he will see light and be satisfied by his knowledge. The righteous one, my servant, will make many righteous, and he will bear their iniquities. ¹² Therefore I will divide him a portion with the great, and he will divide the spoil with the strong; because he poured out his soul to death, and he was numbered with transgressors; yet he bore the sins of many, and made intercession for their transgressions.

²¹ that they may all be one; even as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us; that the world may believe that you sent me. ²² The glory which you have given me, I have given to them; that they may be one, even as we are one; ²³ I in them, and you in me, that they may be perfected into one; that the world may know that you sent me, and loved them, even as you loved me. ²⁴ Father, I desire that they also whom you have given me be with me where I am, that they may see my glory, which you have given me, for you loved me before the foundation of the world.

² in these last days has spoken to us by a Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom also he made the ages. ³ He is the radiance of his glory, the very image of his substance, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had made purification for sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

²² who is at the right hand of God, having gone into heaven, angels and authorities and powers being made subject to him.

²¹ He who overcomes, I will give to him to sit down with me on my throne, as I also overcame, and sat down with my Father on his throne.

²² I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God of hosts and the Lamb are its temple. ²³ The city has no need for the sun, neither of the moon, to shine, for the very glory of God illuminated it, and its lamp is the Lamb.

¹ He showed me a river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb,

³ There will be no curse any more. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants serve him.

¹³ I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.

³³ Then Jesus said, "I will be with you a little while longer, then I go to him who sent me. ³⁴ You will seek me, but won't find; and where I am, you cannot come."

²¹ Jesus said therefore again to them, "I am going away, and you will seek me, and you will die in your sins. Where I go, you cannot come." ²² The Jewish leaders therefore said, "Will he kill himself, that he says, 'Where I am going, you cannot come?'"

³⁵ Jesus therefore said to them, "Yet a little while the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, that darkness does not overtake you. He who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going. ³⁶ While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become children of light." Jesus said these things, and he departed and hid himself from them.

⁴ And you know the way where I am going." ⁵ Thomas said to him, "Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?" ⁶ Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

¹⁹ Yet a little while, and the world will see me no more; but you will see me. Because I live, you will live also.

¹⁶ A little while, and you will no longer see me. Again a little while, and you will see me." ¹⁷ Some of his disciples therefore said to one another, "What is this that he says to us, 'A little while, and you won't see me, and again a little while, and you will see me;' and, 'Because I go to the Father?'" ¹⁸ So they kept asking, "What is this that he says, 'A little while?' We do not know what he is saying." ¹⁹ Jesus knew that they wanted to ask him, so he said to them, "Do you inquire among yourselves concerning this, that I said, 'A little while, and you won't see me, and again a little while, and you will see me?' ²⁰ Truly, truly, I tell you, that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice. You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy. ²¹ A woman, when she gives birth, has pain, because her time has come. But when she has delivered the child, she does not remember the anguish any more, for the joy that a human being is born into the world. ²² Therefore you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.

¹⁹ My children, of whom I am again in travail until Christ is formed in you—

¹ My little children, I write these things to you so that you may not sin. If anyone sins, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ, the righteous.

⁴ You are of God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world.

²¹ Little children, keep yourselves from idols.

¹⁸ "'You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people; but you shall love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.

³⁴ The stranger who lives as a foreigner with you shall be to you as the native-born among you, and you shall love him as yourself; for you lived as foreigners in the land of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.

³ As for the holy ones who are in the land, they are the excellent ones in whom is all my delight.

⁶³ I am a friend of all those who fear you, of those who observe your precepts.

¹² "This is my commandment, that you love one another, even as I have loved you. ¹³ Greater love has no one than this, that someone lays down his life for his friends.

¹⁷ "I command these things to you, that you may love one another.

²¹ that they may all be one; even as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us; that the world may believe that you sent me.

²⁶ When one member suffers, all the members suffer with it. Or when one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it. ²⁷ Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually.

⁴ Love is patient and is kind; love does not envy. Love does not brag, is not proud, ⁵ does not behave itself inappropriately, does not seek its own way, is not irritable, does not keep a record of wrongs; ⁶ does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; ⁷ bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

¹³ For you, brothers, were called for freedom. Only do not use your freedom for gain to the flesh, but through love be servants to one another. ¹⁴ For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, in this: "You are to love your neighbor as yourself."

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

² Bear one another's burdens, and so you will fulfill the law of Christ.

¹⁰ So then, as we have opportunity, let us do what is good toward all people, and especially toward those who are of the household of the faith.

¹ If there is therefore any exhortation in Christ, if any consolation of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any tender mercies and compassion, ² make my joy full, by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind; ³ doing nothing through rivalry or through conceit, but in humility, each counting others better than himself; ⁴ each of you not just looking to his own things, but each of you also to the things of others. ⁵ Have this in your mind, which was also in Christ Jesus,

⁴ having heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which you have toward all the saints,

¹² Put on therefore, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, gentleness, humility, and patience; ¹³ bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as the Lord forgave you, so you also do.

¹² and the Lord make you to increase and abound in love for one another and for all, even as we also do toward you,

⁹ But concerning brotherly love, you have no need that one write to you. For you yourselves are taught by God to love one another, ¹⁰ for indeed you do it toward all the brothers who are in all Macedonia. But we exhort you, brothers, that you abound more and more;

³ We are bound to always give thanks to God for you, brothers, even as it is appropriate, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of each and every one of you towards one another abounds;

¹ Let brotherly love continue.

⁸ However, if you fulfill the royal law, according to the Scripture, "You are to love your neighbor as yourself," you do well.

²² Seeing you have purified your souls in your obedience to the truth in sincere brotherly affection, love one another from a pure heart fervently:

⁸ Finally, be all like-minded, compassionate, loving as brothers, tenderhearted, humble, ⁹ not rendering evil for evil, or reviling for reviling; but instead blessing; because to this were you called, that you may inherit a blessing.

⁷ and in godliness brotherly affection; and in brotherly affection, love.

⁷ Beloved, I write no new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which you heard. ⁸ Again, I write a new commandment to you, which is true in him and in you; because the darkness is passing away, and the true light already shines. ⁹ He who says he is in the light and hates his brother, is in the darkness even until now. ¹⁰ He who loves his brother remains in the light, and there is no occasion for stumbling in him.

¹¹ For this is the message which you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another;

¹⁴ We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. He who does not love remains in death. ¹⁵ Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has everlasting life remaining in him. ¹⁶ By this we know love, because he laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. ¹⁷ But whoever has the world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and closes his heart of compassion against him, how does the love of God remain in him? ¹⁸ Little children, let us not love in word only, neither with the tongue only, but in deed and truth.

²³ This is his commandment, that we should believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another, even as he commanded us.

⁷ Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God, and knows God. ⁸ He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. ⁹ By this God's love was revealed in us, that God has sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. ¹⁰ In this is love, not that we have loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son as the atoning sacrifice for our sins. ¹¹ Beloved, if God loved us in this way, we also ought to love one another.

²¹ This commandment we have from him, that he who loves God should also love his brother.

⁵ And now I ask you, dear lady, not as though I wrote to you a new commandment, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.

⁷ There was a strife between the herdsmen of Abram's livestock and the herdsmen of Lot's livestock. And the Canaanite and the Perizzite lived in the land at that time. ⁸ Abram said to Lot, "Please, let there be no strife between me and you, and between my herdsmen and your herdsmen; for we are relatives.

³² And the full number of those who believed were of one heart and soul. Not one of them claimed that anything of the things which he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common. ³³ With great power, the apostles gave their testimony of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. Great grace was on them all. ³⁴ For neither was there among them any who lacked, for as many as were owners of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold, ³⁵ and put them at the apostles' feet, and distribution was made to each, according as anyone had need.

¹² By the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were done among the people. They were all with one accord in Solomon's porch. ¹³ None of the rest dared to join them, however the people honored them. ¹⁴ More believers were added to the Lord, crowds of both men and women.

⁵ But whoever keeps his word, God's love has truly been perfected in him. This is how we know that we are in him:

¹⁰ He who loves his brother remains in the light, and there is no occasion for stumbling in him.

¹⁰ In this the children of God are revealed, and the children of the devil. Whoever does not do righteousness is not of God, neither is he who does not love his brother. ¹¹ For this is the message which you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another; ¹² unlike Cain, who was of the evil one, and killed his brother. Why did he kill him? Because his works were evil, and his brother's righteous. ¹³ Therefore do not be surprised, brothers, if the world hates you. ¹⁴ We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. He who does not love remains in death.

²⁰ If anyone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen. ²¹ This commandment we have from him, that he who loves God should also love his brother.

³³ Little children, I will be with you a little while longer. You will seek me, and as I said to the Jewish leaders, 'Where I am going, you cannot come,' so now I tell you.

² In my Father's house are many mansions. If it weren't so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.

⁴ And you know the way where I am going." ⁵ Thomas said to him, "Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?"

¹⁷ Some of his disciples therefore said to one another, "What is this that he says to us, 'A little while, and you won't see me, and again a little while, and you will see me;' and, 'Because I go to the Father?'"

¹⁸ Truly I tell you, when you were young, you dressed yourself, and walked where you wanted to. But when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will dress you, and carry you where you do not want to go." ¹⁹ Now he said this, signifying by what kind of death he would glorify God. When he had said this, he said to him, "Follow me."

²¹ Peter seeing him, said to Jesus, "Lord, what about this man?" ²² Jesus said to him, "If I desire that he stay until I come, what is that to you? You follow me."

¹⁴ knowing that the putting off of my tent comes swiftly, even as our Lord Jesus Christ made clear to me.

³¹ Then Jesus said to them, "All of you will be made to stumble because of me tonight, for it is written, 'I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.' ³² But after I am raised up, I will go before you into Galilee." ³³ But Peter answered him, "Even if all will be made to stumble because of you, I will never be made to stumble." ³⁴ Jesus said to him, "Truly I tell you that tonight, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times." ³⁵ Peter said to him, "Even if I must die with you, I will not deny you." All of the disciples also said likewise.

²⁷ Jesus said to them, "All of you will fall away, for it is written, 'I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.' ²⁸ However, after I am raised up, I will go before you into Galilee." ²⁹ But Peter said to him, "Although all will be offended, yet I will not." ³⁰ Jesus said to him, "Truly I tell you, that today, even this night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times." ³¹ But he insisted, "If I must die with you, I will not deny you." They all said the same thing.

³¹ And the Lord said, "Simon, Simon, look, Satan asked to have you, that he might sift you as wheat, ³² but I prayed for you, that your faith would not fail. You, when once you have turned again, establish your brothers." ³³ He said to him, "Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death." ³⁴ He said, "I tell you, Peter, the rooster will by no means crow today until you deny that you know me three times."

¹⁵ So when they had eaten their breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord; you know that I love you." He said to him, "Feed my lambs."

²⁴ But I make my life an account of nothing precious to myself, so that I may finish my race, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to fully testify to the Good News of the grace of God.

¹³ Then Paul answered, "What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus."

¹⁸ Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.

²⁶ One who trusts in himself is a fool; but one who walks in wisdom is kept safe.

²³ A man's pride brings him low, but one of lowly spirit gains honor.

³⁴ Jesus said to him, "Truly I tell you that tonight, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times."

⁶⁹ Now Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard, and a servant girl came to him, saying, "You were also with Jesus, the Galilean." ⁷⁰ But he denied it before them all, saying, "I do not know what you are talking about." ⁷¹ And when he had gone out onto the porch, another girl saw him, and said to those who were there, "This man also was with Jesus the Nazorean." ⁷² Again he denied it with an oath, "I do not know the man." ⁷³ After a little while those who stood by came and said to Peter, "Surely you are also one of them, for your accent makes you known." ⁷⁴ Then he began to curse and to swear, "I do not know the man." Immediately the rooster crowed. ⁷⁵ Peter remembered the word which Jesus had said, "Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times." He went out and wept bitterly.

³⁰ Jesus said to him, "Truly I tell you, that today, even this night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times."

⁶⁶ Now as Peter was in the courtyard below, one of the servant girls of the high priest came, ⁶⁷ and seeing Peter warming himself, she looked at him, and said, "You were also with the Nazarene, Jesus." ⁶⁸ But he denied it, saying, "I neither know nor understand what you are saying." And he went out into the forecourt, and a rooster crowed. ⁶⁹ And the servant girl saw him, and began again to tell those who stood by, "This is one of them." ⁷⁰ But he again denied it. After a little while again those who stood by said to Peter, "You truly are one of them, for you are a Galilean, and your accent shows it." ⁷¹ But he began to curse, and to swear, "I do not know this man of whom you speak." ⁷² And immediately the rooster crowed the second time. Peter remembered the word, how that Jesus said to him, "Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times." When he thought about that, he wept.

³⁴ He said, "I tell you, Peter, the rooster will by no means crow today until you deny that you know me three times."

⁵⁶ A certain servant girl saw him as he sat in the light, and looking intently at him, said, "This man also was with him." ⁵⁷ But he denied it, saying, "Woman, I do not know him." ⁵⁸ After a little while someone else saw him, and said, "You also are one of them." But Peter answered, "Man, I am not." ⁵⁹ After about one hour passed, another confidently affirmed, saying, "Truly this man also was with him, for he is a Galilean." ⁶⁰ But Peter said, "Man, I do not know what you are talking about." Immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed. ⁶¹ The Lord turned, and looked at Peter. Then Peter remembered the Lord's word, how he said to him, "Before the rooster crows today you will deny me three times." ⁶² And he went out, and wept bitterly.

¹⁶ but Peter was standing at the door outside. So the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to her who kept the door, and brought in Peter. ¹⁷ Then the maid who kept the door said to Peter, "Are you also one of this man's disciples?" He said, "I am not."

²⁵ Now Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. They said therefore to him, "You are not also one of his disciples, are you?" He denied it, and said, "I am not." ²⁶ One of the servants of the high priest, being a relative of him whose ear Peter had cut off, said, "Did I not see you in the garden with him?" ²⁷ Peter therefore denied it again, and immediately the rooster crowed.

¹² Therefore let him who thinks he stands be careful that he does not fall.
