¹² Destroyers have come on all the bare heights in the wilderness; for the sword of the LORD devours from the one end of the land even to the other end of the land: no flesh has peace.

¹ The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the Jews who lived in the land of Egypt, who lived at Migdol, and at Tahpanhes, and at Memphis, and in the country of Pathros, saying,

³ "Prepare the buckler and shield, and draw near to battle. ⁴ Harness the horses, and get up, you horsemen, and stand forth with your helmets; furbish the spears, put on the coats of mail.

¹⁰ For that day is of the Lord, the LORD of hosts, a day of vengeance, that he may avenge him of his adversaries: and the sword shall devour and be satiate, and shall drink its fill of their blood; for the Lord, the LORD of hosts, has a sacrifice in the north country by the river Perath.

¹⁶ I will set a fire in Egypt: Sin shall be in great anguish, and No shall be broken up; and Memphis shall have adversaries in the daytime. ¹⁷ The young men of On and of Pi-beseth shall fall by the sword; and these cities shall go into captivity. ¹⁸ At Tehaphnehes also the day shall withdraw itself, when I shall break there the yokes of Egypt, and the pride of her power shall cease in her: as for her, a cloud shall cover her, and her daughters shall go into captivity.

⁹ Proclaim this among the nations: "Prepare for war. Stir up the mighty men. Let all the warriors draw near. Let them come up. ¹⁰ Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruning hooks into spears. Let the weak say, 'I am strong.' ¹¹ Hurry and come, all you surrounding nations, and gather yourselves together." Cause your mighty ones to come down there, LORD. ¹² "Let the nations arouse themselves, and come up to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; for there will I sit to judge all the surrounding nations.

¹³ "Look, I am against you," says the LORD of hosts, "and I will burn her chariots in the smoke, and the sword will devour your young lions; and I will cut off your prey from the earth, and the voice of your messengers will no longer be heard."
