¹² and I delivered the deed of the purchase to Baruch the son of Neriah, the son of Mahseiah, in the presence of Hanamel my cousin, and in the presence of the witnesses who subscribed the deed of the purchase, before all the Jews who sat in the court of the guard.

¹⁶ Now after I had delivered the deed of the purchase to Baruch the son of Neriah, I prayed to the LORD, saying,

⁴ Then Jeremiah called Baruch the son of Neriah; and Baruch wrote from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the LORD, which he had spoken to him, on a scroll. ⁵ Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying, "I am shut up; I can't go into the house of the LORD:

¹⁶ Now it happened, when they had heard all the words, they turned in fear one toward another, and said to Baruch, "We will surely tell the king of all these words." ¹⁷ They asked Baruch, saying, "Tell us now, How did you write all these words at his mouth?" ¹⁸ Then Baruch answered them, "He pronounced all these words to me with his mouth, and I wrote them with ink on the scroll." ¹⁹ Then the officials said to Baruch, "Go, hide, you and Jeremiah; and let no man know where you are."

²⁶ The king commanded Jerahmeel the king's son, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to take Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet; but the LORD hid them.

³² Then Jeremiah took another scroll, and gave it to Baruch the scribe, the son of Neriah, who wrote on it at the instruction of Jeremiah all the words of the scroll which Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire; and there were added besides to them many like words.

³ but Baruch the son of Neriah sets you on against us, to deliver us into the hand of the Chaldeans, that they may put us to death, and carry us away captive to Babylon." ⁴ So Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces, and all the people, did not obey the voice of the LORD, to dwell in the land of Judah. ⁵ But Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces, took all the remnant of Judah, who were returned from all the nations where they had been driven, to live in the land of Judah; ⁶ the men, and the women, and the children, and the king's daughters, and every person who Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had left with Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan; and Jeremiah the prophet, and Baruch the son of Neriah;

¹ The message that Jeremiah the prophet spoke to Baruch the son of Neriah, when he wrote these words in a scroll at the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying, ² "Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, to you, Baruch: ³ 'You said, "Woe is me now. For the LORD has added sorrow to my pain; I am weary with my groaning, and I find no rest."'" ⁴ "You shall tell him, 'Thus says the LORD: "Look, that which I have built will I break down, and that which I have planted I will pluck up; and this in the whole land. ⁵ Do you seek great things for yourself? Do not seek them; for, look, I will bring disaster on all flesh, says the LORD; but your life will I give to you for a reward in all places where you go."'"

⁵⁹ The word which Jeremiah the prophet commanded Seraiah the son of Neriah, the son of Mahseiah, when he went with Zedekiah the king of Judah to Babylon in the fourth year of his reign. Now Seraiah was chief quartermaster.

²¹ For we have regard for what is honorable, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of others.
