¹ King Achashyerosh laid a tribute on the land, and on the islands of the sea. ² All the acts of his power and of his might, and the full account of the greatness of Mordecai, to which the king advanced him, aren't they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Media and Persia? ³ For Mordecai the Jew was next to King Achashyerosh, and great among the Jews, and accepted by the multitude of his brothers, seeking the good of his people, and speaking peace to all his descendants.

⁵ From these, the coastlands of the nations separated into their territories, every one according to its language, according to their families, in their nations.

¹⁵ Therefore glorify the LORD in the east, even the name of the LORD, the God of Israel, in the islands of the sea.

²⁹ Then commanded Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with purple, and put a chain of gold about his neck, and made proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.

² that I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. ³ For I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ for my brothers' sake, my physical relatives according to the flesh,

¹ Brothers, my heart's desire and my prayer to God is for them, that they may be saved.

¹⁸ For he who serves Christ in these things is acceptable to God and approved by people.
