¹² The multitude shall be taken away, and his heart shall be exalted; and he shall cast down tens of thousands, but he shall not prevail.

¹⁴ then your heart be lifted up, and you forget the LORD your God, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage;

¹⁰ You have indeed struck Edom, and your heart has lifted you up. Enjoy the glory of it, and stay at home; for why should you meddle to your harm, that you should fall, even you, and Judah with you?'"

² "Son of man, tell the prince of Tyre, 'Thus says the Lord GOD: "Because your heart is lifted up, and you have said, 'I am a god, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas'; yet you are man, and not God, though you set your heart as the heart of God—

⁵ by your great wisdom and by your traffic you have increased your riches, and your heart is lifted up because of your riches"—

¹⁷ Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; you have corrupted your wisdom by reason of your brightness: I have cast you to the ground; I have laid you before kings, that they may see you.

¹⁹ And because of the greatness that he gave him, all the peoples, nations, and languages trembled and feared before him. ²⁵ Through his cunning he shall cause deceit to prosper by his influence, and he shall be great in his own mind, and without warning he shall destroy many. He shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be shattered, but not by human hands.

⁴ Look, if he holds back, my soul has no pleasure in him, but the righteous will live by faith. ⁵ And moreover, wealth is treacherous; a proud man will not endure. He enlarges his desire as Sheol, and he is like death, and canʼt be satisfied. He gathers all nations to himself, and collects to himself all peoples. ⁶ Won't all these take up a parable against him, and a taunting proverb against him, and say, 'Woe to him who increases that which is not his, and who enriches himself by extortion. How long?'

²² But the crowd shouted, "The voice of a god, and not of a man." ²³ Immediately an angel of the Lord struck him, because he did not give God the glory, and he was eaten by worms and died.

⁶ not a new convert, lest being puffed up he fall into the same condemnation as the devil.

⁵ Likewise, you younger ones, be subject to the elder. Yes, all of you clothe yourselves with humility, towards one another; for God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.
