⁶ It is he who builds his upper chamber in the heavens, and has founded his vault on the earth; he who calls for the waters of the sea, and pours them out on the surface of the earth; the LORD is his name.

¹ Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all their vast array.

¹¹ In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on the same day all the fountains of the great deep were burst open, and the floodgates of the sky were opened. ¹² The rain was on the earth forty days and forty nights. ¹³ In the same day Noah, and Shem, Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah's wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, entered into the vessel; ¹⁴ they, and every wild animal after its kind, and every tame animal after their kind, every creature that crawls on the earth after its kind, and every flying creature after its kind, everything with wings. ¹⁵ They went to Noah into the vessel, by pairs of all flesh with the breath of life in them. ¹⁶ Those who went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God commanded him; and God shut him in. ¹⁷ The flood was forty days on the earth. The waters increased, and lifted up the vessel, and it was lifted up above the earth. ¹⁸ The waters prevailed, and increased greatly on the earth; and the vessel floated on the surface of the waters. ¹⁹ And the waters rose very high on the earth. And all the high mountains that were under the whole sky were covered.

¹⁴ And God said to Moses, "I AM THAT I AM," and he said, "You shall tell the children of Israel this: 'I AM has sent me to you.'" ¹⁵ And God said moreover to Moses, "You shall tell the children of Israel this, 'The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.' This is my name forever, and this is how I am to be remembered from generation to generation.

³ He lays the beams of his chambers in the waters. He makes the clouds his chariot. He walks on the wings of the wind.

⁵ He laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be moved forever and ever. ⁶ You covered it with the deep as with a cloak. The waters stood above the mountains.

¹³ He waters the mountains from his chambers. The earth is filled with the fruit of your works.

²² Do you not fear me?' says the LORD 'Won't you tremble at my presence, who have placed the sand for the bound of the sea, by a perpetual decree, that it can't pass it? And though its waves toss themselves, yet they can't prevail; though they roar, yet they can't pass over it.'

¹³ For, look, he who forms the mountains, and creates the wind, and declares to man what is his thought; who makes the morning darkness, and treads on the high places of the earth: The LORD, the God of hosts, is his name."
