¹ Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets to Elisha, saying, "Your servant my husband is dead. You know that your servant feared the LORD. Now the creditor has come to take for himself my two children to be slaves." ² Elisha said to her, "What shall I do for you? Tell me: what do you have in the house?" She said, "Your handmaid has nothing in the house, except a pot of oil." ³ Then he said, "Go, borrow containers from of all your neighbors, even empty containers. Do not borrow just a few. ⁴ You shall go in, and shut the door on you and on your sons, and pour out into all those containers; and you shall set aside that which is full." ⁵ So she went from him, and shut the door on her and on her sons; they brought the containers to her, and she poured out. ⁶ It happened, when the containers were full, that she said to her son, "Bring me another container." He said to her, "There isn't another container." The oil stopped flowing. ⁷ Then she came and told the man of God. He said, "Go, sell the oil, and pay your debt; and you and your sons live on the rest." ⁸ It fell on a day, that Elisha passed to Shunem, where there was a prominent woman; and she persuaded him to eat bread. So it was, that as often as he passed by, he turned in there to eat bread. ⁹ She said to her husband, "See now, I perceive that this is a holy man of God, that passes by us continually. ¹⁰ Please let us make a little room on the wall. Let us set for him there a bed, a table, a chair, and a lamp stand. It shall be, when he comes to us, that he shall turn in there." ¹¹ One day he came there, and he turned into the room and lay there. ¹² He said to Gehazi his servant, "Call this Shunammite." When he had called her, she stood before him. ¹³ He said to him, "Say now to her, 'Look, you have cared for us with all this care. What is to be done for you? Would you like to be spoken for to the king, or to the captain of the army?'" She answered, "I dwell among my own people." ¹⁴ He said, "What then is to be done for her?" Gehazi answered, "Most certainly she has no son, and her husband is old." ¹⁵ He said, "Call her." When he had called her, she stood in the door. ¹⁶ He said, "At this season, when the time comes around, you will embrace a son." She said, "No, my lord, you man of God, do not lie to your handmaid." ¹⁷ The woman conceived, and bore a son at that season, when the time came around, as Elisha had said to her. ¹⁸ When the child was grown, it happened one day that he went out to his father to the reapers. ¹⁹ He said to his father, "My head. My head." He said to his servant, "Carry him to his mother." ²⁰ When he had taken him, and brought him to his mother, he sat on her knees until noon, and then died. ²¹ She went up and laid him on the bed of the man of God, and shut the door on him, and went out. ²² She called to her husband, and said, "Please send me one of the servants, and one of the donkeys, that I may run to the man of God, and come again." ²³ He said, "Why would you want to go to him today? It is neither new moon nor Sabbath." She said, "It's alright." ²⁴ Then she saddled a donkey, and said to her servant, "Drive, and go forward. Do not slow down for me, unless I ask you to." ²⁵ So she went, and came to the man of God to Mount Carmel. It happened, when the man of God saw her afar off, that he said to Gehazi his servant, "Look, there is the Shunammite. ²⁶ Please run now to meet her, and ask her, 'Is it well with you? Is it well with your husband? Is it well with the child?'" She answered, "It is well." ²⁷ When she came to the man of God to the hill, she caught hold of his feet. Gehazi came near to thrust her away; but the man of God said, "Leave her alone; for her soul is troubled within her; and the LORD has hidden it from me, and has not told me." ²⁸ Then she said, "Did I ask a son from my lord? Did I not say, Do not deceive me?" ²⁹ Then he said to Gehazi, "Tuck your cloak into your belt, take my staff in your hand, and go your way. If you meet any man, do not greet him; and if anyone greets you, do not answer him again. Then lay my staff on the face of the child." ³⁰ The mother of the child said, "As the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you." He arose, and followed her. ³¹ Gehazi passed on before them, and laid the staff on the face of the child; but there was neither voice, nor hearing. Therefore he returned to meet him, and told him, saying, "The child has not awakened." ³² When Elisha had come into the house, look, the child was dead, and lay on his bed. ³³ He went in therefore, and shut the door on them both, and prayed to the LORD. ³⁴ He went up, and lay on the child, and put his mouth on his mouth, and his eyes on his eyes, and his hands on his hands. He stretched himself on him; and the flesh of the child grew warm. ³⁵ Then he returned, and walked in the house once back and forth; and went up, and stretched himself on him. Then the child sneezed seven times, and the child opened his eyes. ³⁶ He called Gehazi, and said, "Call this Shunammite." So he called her. When she had come in to him, he said, "Take up your son." ³⁷ Then she went in, and fell at his feet, and bowed herself to the ground; and she took up her son, and went out. ³⁸ Elisha came again to Gilgal. There was a famine in the land; and the sons of the prophets were sitting before him; and he said to his servant, "Set on the great pot, and boil stew for the sons of the prophets." ³⁹ One went out into the field to gather herbs, and found a wild vine, and gathered of it wild gourds his lap full, and came and shred them into the pot of stew; for they did not recognize them. ⁴⁰ So they poured out for the men to eat. It happened, as they were eating of the stew, that they cried out, and said, "Man of God, there is death in the pot." They could not eat of it. ⁴¹ But he said, "Bring some flour." And he threw it into the pot; and he said, 'Pour it out for the people, that they may eat." And there was no harm in the pot. ⁴² A man from Baal Shalishah came, and brought the man of God bread of the first fruits, twenty loaves of barley, and fresh ears of grain in his sack. He said, "Give to the people, that they may eat." ⁴³ His servant said, "What, should I set this before a hundred men?" But he said, "Give the people, that they may eat; for thus says the LORD, 'They will eat, and will have some left over.'" ⁴⁴ So he set it before them, and they ate, and left some of it, according to the word of the LORD.

¹² He said, "Do not lay your hand on the boy, neither do anything to him. For now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not withheld your son, your only one, from me."

³⁹ "'If your brother has grown poor among you, and sells himself to you; you shall not make him to serve as a slave. ⁴⁰ As a hired servant, and as a sojourner, he shall be with you; he shall serve with you until the Year of Jubilee: ⁴¹ then he shall go out from you, he and his children with him, and shall return to his own family, and to the possession of his fathers.

⁴⁸ after he is sold he may be redeemed. One of his brothers may redeem him;

² Everyone who was in distress, and everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented, gathered themselves to him; and he became captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men.

³ And Ahab summoned Obadiah, the steward of the house. (Now Obadiah feared the LORD greatly.

³⁵ A certain man of the sons of the prophets said to his fellow by the word of the LORD, "Please strike me." The man refused to strike him.

³ The sons of the prophets who were at Bethel came out to Elisha, and said to him, "Do you know that the LORD will take away your master from your head today?" He said, "Yes, I know it; hold your peace."

⁵ The sons of the prophets who were at Jericho came near to Elisha, and said to him, "Do you know that the LORD will take away your master from your head today?" He answered, "Yes, I know it. Hold your peace."

³⁸ Elisha came again to Gilgal. There was a famine in the land; and the sons of the prophets were sitting before him; and he said to his servant, "Set on the great pot, and boil stew for the sons of the prophets."

² For there were that said, "We, our sons and our daughters, are many. Let us get grain, that we may eat and live." ³ Some also there were that said, "We are mortgaging our fields, and our vineyards, and our houses. Let us get grain, because of the famine." ⁴ There were also some who said, "We have borrowed money for the king's tribute using our fields and our vineyards as collateral. ⁵ Yet now our flesh is as the flesh of our brothers, our children as their children. Look, we bring into bondage our sons and our daughters to be servants, and some of our daughters have been brought into bondage. Neither is it in our power to help it; for other men have our fields and our vineyards."

² that I put my brother Hanani, and Hananiah the commander of the fortress, in charge of Jerusalem; for he was a faithful man, and feared God above many.

³¹ and if the peoples of the land bring wares or any grain on the Sabbath day to sell, that we would not buy of them on the Sabbath, or on a holy day; and that we would forego the seventh year, and the exaction of every debt.

¹¹ For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is his loving kindness toward those who fear him.

¹⁷ But the LORD's loving kindness is from everlasting to everlasting with those who fear him, his righteousness to children's children;

¹ Praise the LORD. Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who delights greatly in his commandments. ² His descendants will be mighty in the land. The generation of the upright will be blessed.

¹³ He will bless those who fear the LORD, both small and great.

¹¹ The LORD takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his loving kindness.

¹² Though a sinner commits crimes a hundred times, and lives long, yet surely I know that it will be better with those who fear God, who are reverent before him.

¹³ This is the end of the matter. All has been heard. Fear God, and keep his commandments; for this is the whole duty of man.

¹⁴ "At the end of seven years you shall let go every man his brother who is a Hebrew, who has been sold to you, and has served you six years, you shall let him go free from you": but your fathers did not listen to me, neither inclined their ear.

¹⁶ Then those who feared the LORD spoke one with another; and the LORD listened, and heard, and a book of remembrance was written before him, for those who feared the LORD, and who honored his name.

² But to you who fear my name shall the sun of righteousness arise with healing in its wings. You will go out, and leap like calves of the stall.

²⁵ But because he could not pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, with his wife and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made.

³⁰ He would not, but went and cast him into prison, until he should pay back that which was due.

³⁵ So my heavenly Father will also do to you, if you do not each forgive your brother his trespasses from your heart."

²⁶ Brothers, children of the stock of Abraham, and those among you who fear God, the word of this salvation is sent out to us.

¹³ For judgment is without mercy to him who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

⁴ Who would not fear you, Lord, and glorify your name? For you only are holy. For all the nations will come and worship before you. For your righteous acts have been revealed."

⁵ A voice came forth from the throne, saying, "Give praise to our God, all you his servants, you who fear him, the small and the great."

¹² She said, "As the LORD your God lives, I do not have anything baked, except a handful of flour in a jar, and a little oil in a jug. Look, I am gathering a couple of sticks, that I may go in and bake it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die."

⁹ It happened, when they had gone over, that Elijah said to Elisha, "Ask what I shall do for you, before I am taken from you." Elisha said, "Please let a double portion of your spirit be on me."

²⁶ As the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried to him, saying, "Help, my lord, O king." ²⁷ He said, "If the LORD doesn't help you, from where could I help you? From of the threshing floor, or from the winepress?"

³⁴ Jesus said to them, "How many loaves do you have?" They said, "Seven, and a few small fish."

⁵ Jesus therefore lifting up his eyes, and seeing that a large crowd was coming to him, said to Philip, "Where are we to buy bread, that these may eat?" ⁶ This he said to test him, for he himself knew what he would do. ⁷ Philip answered him, "Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that everyone of them may receive a little."

⁶ But Peter said, "Silver and gold have I none, but what I have, that I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazorean, get up and walk."

¹⁰ as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.

⁵ Listen, my beloved brothers. Did not God choose those who are poor in this world to be rich in faith, and heirs of the Kingdom which he promised to those who love him?

¹⁶ He said, "Thus says the LORD, 'Make this valley full of trenches.'

¹⁸ He said, "Take the arrows"; and he took them. He said to the king of Israel, "Strike the ground"; and he struck three times, and stopped. ¹⁹ The man of God was angry with him, and said, "You should have struck five or six times. Then you would have struck Aram until you had consumed it, whereas now you shall strike Aram just three times."

¹⁰ I am the LORD, your God, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.

⁷ Jesus said to them, "Fill the water jars with water." They filled them up to the brim.

²⁴ Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full.

¹⁹ And he said to her, "Give me your son." And he took him out of her lap and carried him up into the room where he stayed, and laid him on his own bed. ²⁰ He cried to the LORD, and said, "LORD my God, have you also brought disaster on the widow with whom I sojourn, by killing her son?"

³² When Elisha had come into the house, look, the child was dead, and lay on his bed. ³³ He went in therefore, and shut the door on them both, and prayed to the LORD.

²⁰ Come, my people, enter into your chambers, and shut your doors behind you. Hide yourself for a little moment, until the indignation is past.

⁶ But you, when you pray, enter into your inner chamber, and having shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

⁴⁰ And they ridiculed him. But he, having put them all out, took the father of the child, her mother, and those who were with him, and went in where the child was.

³⁷ But he answered them, "You give them something to eat." And they said to him, "Are we to go and buy two hundred denarii worth of bread, and give them something to eat?" ³⁸ He said to them, "How many loaves do you have? Go see." When they knew, they said, "Five, and two fish." ³⁹ He commanded them that everyone should sit down in groups on the green grass. ⁴⁰ They sat down in ranks, by hundreds and by fifties. ⁴¹ He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he blessed and broke the loaves, and he gave to his disciples to set before them, and he divided the two fish among them all. ⁴² They all ate, and were filled. ⁴³ They took up twelve baskets full of broken pieces and also of the fish. ⁴⁴ Those who ate the loaves were five thousand men.

⁵ He asked them, "How many loaves do you have?" They said, "Seven." ⁶ He commanded the crowd to sit down on the ground, and he took the seven loaves. Having given thanks, he broke them, and gave them to his disciples to serve, and they served the crowd. ⁷ They had a few small fish. Having blessed them, he said to serve these also. ⁸ They ate, and were filled. They took up seven baskets of broken pieces that were left over. ⁹ Now they were about four thousand. Then he sent them away.

⁷ Jesus said to them, "Fill the water jars with water." They filled them up to the brim. ⁸ He said to them, "Now draw some out, and take it to the ruler of the feast." So they took it. ⁹ When the ruler of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the ruler of the feast called the bridegroom,

¹¹ Jesus took the loaves; and having given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to those who were sitting down; likewise also of the fish as much as they desired.

⁴⁰ Peter put them all out, and kneeled down and prayed. Turning to the body, he said, "Tabitha, get up." She opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter, she sat up.

²⁰ Now to him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,

¹⁵ And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah. And she, and he, and her household, ate for a long time. ¹⁶ The jar of flour did not empty, neither did the jug of oil become empty, according to the word of the LORD, which he spoke by Elijah.

¹¹ But Naaman was angry, and went away, and said, "Look, I thought, 'He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and wave his hand over the place, and heal the leper.'

⁴⁵ Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of the things which have been spoken to her from the Lord."

⁷ By faith, Noah, being warned about things not yet seen, in reverence prepared a box-shaped vessel for the salvation of his household, through which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith. ⁸ By faith, Abraham, when he was called, obeyed to go out to a place which he was to receive for an inheritance. He went out, not knowing where he was going.

¹² The manna ceased on the next day, after they had eaten of the produce of the land. The children of Israel did not have manna any more; but they ate of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year.

¹⁴ For thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, 'The jar of flour shall not empty, neither shall the jug of oil be empty, until the day that the LORD sends rain on the surface of the land.'"

⁴³ His servant said, "What, should I set this before a hundred men?" But he said, "Give the people, that they may eat; for thus says the LORD, 'They will eat, and will have some left over.'" ⁴⁴ So he set it before them, and they ate, and left some of it, according to the word of the LORD.

¹⁹ The man of God was angry with him, and said, "You should have struck five or six times. Then you would have struck Aram until you had consumed it, whereas now you shall strike Aram just three times."

¹² He stood before the altar of the LORD in the presence of all the assembly of Israel, and spread forth his hands ¹³ (for Solomon had made a bronze scaffold, eight feet and seven inches long, and eight feet and seven inches broad, and five feet and two inches high, and had set it in the midst of the court; and on it he stood, and kneeled down on his knees before all the assembly of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven;)

²⁹ Then he touched their eyes, saying, "According to your faith be it done to you."

⁵⁸ And he did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

²⁰ And they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of that which remained left over from the broken pieces.

³⁷ They all ate, and were filled. They took up seven baskets full of the broken pieces that were left over.

¹⁹ All the crowd sought to touch him, for power came out from him and healed them all.

¹² When they were filled, he said to his disciples, "Gather up the broken pieces which are left over, that nothing be lost."

²² But the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying,

²¹ The wicked borrow, and do not pay back, but the righteous give generously.

¹⁷ Repay no one evil for evil. Respect what is honorable in the sight of all people.

⁸ Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think on these things.

⁹ For you remember, brothers, our labor and travail; for working night and day, that we might not burden any of you, we preached to you the Good News of God. ¹⁰ You are witnesses with God, how holy, righteously, and blamelessly we behaved ourselves toward you who believe.

¹² that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and may have need of nothing.

⁷ For you know how you ought to imitate us. For we did not behave ourselves rebelliously among you, ⁸ neither did we eat bread from anyone's hand without paying for it, but in labor and travail worked night and day, that we might not burden any of you; ⁹ not because we do not have the right, but to make ourselves an example to you, that you should imitate us. ¹⁰ For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: "If anyone will not work, neither let him eat." ¹¹ For we hear of some who walk among you in rebellion, who do not work at all, but are busybodies. ¹² Now those who are that way, we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.

³ But he urged them so strongly that they came in with him, and entered into his house. He made them a feast, and baked unleavened bread, and they ate.

¹⁸ And their border was to Jezreel, and Chesulloth, and Shunem,

²⁰ And the old man said, "Peace be to you. I will take care of all your needs; however, do not spend the night in the square."

⁴ The Philistines gathered themselves together, and came and camped in Shunem: and Saul gathered all Israel together, and they camped in Gilboa.

³² Now Barzillai was a very old man, eighty years old; and he had provided for the king while he was staying at Mahanaim, for he was a very rich man.

³ So they sought for a beautiful young woman throughout all the borders of Israel, and found Abishag the Shunammite, and brought her to the king.

¹¹ One day he came there, and he turned into the room and lay there. ¹² He said to Gehazi his servant, "Call this Shunammite." When he had called her, she stood before him.

¹⁸ When the child was grown, it happened one day that he went out to his father to the reapers.

³ His possessions also were seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen, five hundred female donkeys, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the people of the east.

⁹ It is not the great who are wise, nor the aged who understand justice.

²¹ With persuasive words, she led him astray. With the flattering of her lips, she seduced him.

¹⁵ For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and he will drink no wine nor strong drink. He will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb.

²³ "The lord said to the servant, 'Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.

²⁹ They urged him, saying, "Stay with us, for it is almost evening, and the day is almost over." He went in to stay with them.

¹⁵ When she and her household were baptized, she urged us, saying, "If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and stay." So she persuaded us.

¹ This is the blessing, with which Moses the man of God blessed the children of Israel before his death.

¹ Look, there came a man of God out of Judah by the word of the LORD to Beth El: and Jeroboam was standing by the altar to burn incense.

¹⁸ And she said to Elijah, "What do we have in common, O man of God? You have come to me to bring my sin to memory, and to kill my son."

²⁴ And the woman said to Elijah, "Now I know that you are a man of God and that the word of the LORD in your mouth is the truth."

⁷ Then she came and told the man of God. He said, "Go, sell the oil, and pay your debt; and you and your sons live on the rest."

¹⁰ Who can find a worthy woman? For her price is far above rubies. ¹¹ The heart of her husband trusts in her. He shall have no lack of gain.

¹⁶ In the same way, let your light shine before people, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

¹⁰ You are witnesses with God, how holy, righteously, and blamelessly we behaved ourselves toward you who believe.

¹¹ But you, man of God, flee these things, and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and gentleness.

⁸ but given to hospitality, as a lover of good, sober minded, fair, holy, self-controlled;

¹ In like manner, wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; so that, even if any do not obey the word, they may be won by the behavior of their wives without a word;

²¹ For no prophecy ever came by human will, but people spoke from God, being moved by the Holy Spirit.

² that you should remember the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and the commandment of the Lord and Savior through your apostles:

¹⁹ And he said to her, "Give me your son." And he took him out of her lap and carried him up into the room where he stayed, and laid him on his own bed.

⁸ But the noble devises noble things; and he will continue in noble things.

⁴¹ The one who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet will receive a prophet's reward. The one who receives a righteous person in the name of a righteous person will receive a righteous person's reward. ⁴² And whoever gives one of these little ones just a cup of cold water to drink because he is a disciple, truly I tell you he will in no way lose his reward."

⁴⁰ "The King will answer them, 'Truly I tell you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.'

⁴¹ For whoever will give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because you belong to the Christ, truly I tell you, he will in no way lose his reward.

³ and Joanna, the wife of Chuza, Herod's steward; Susanna; and many others; who provided for them from their possessions.

¹³ contributing to the needs of the saints; given to hospitality.

²⁴ Let us consider how to motivate one another to love and good works,

² Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for in doing so, some have entertained angels without knowing it.

⁹ Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. ¹⁰ As each has received a gift, employ it in serving one another, as good managers of the grace of God in its various forms.

⁴³ And he said to his servant, "Go up now, look toward the sea." So he went up, and looked, and said, "There is nothing." Then he said, "Go again" seven times. And the servant went again seven times.

³ And he was afraid, and he got up and fled for his life, and came to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there.

¹¹ But Jehoshaphat said, "Isn't there here a prophet of the LORD, that we may inquire of the LORD by him?" One of the king of Israel's servants answered, "Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who poured water on the hands of Elijah."

²⁹ Then he said to Gehazi, "Tuck your cloak into your belt, take my staff in your hand, and go your way. If you meet any man, do not greet him; and if anyone greets you, do not answer him again. ²⁰ But Gehazi the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, "Look, my master has spared this Naaman the Aramean, in not receiving at his hands that which he brought. As the LORD lives, I will run after him, and take something from him." ²¹ So Gehazi followed after Naaman. When Naaman saw one running after him, he came down from the chariot to meet him, and said, "Is all well?" ²² He said, "All is well. My master has sent me, saying, 'Look, even now two young men of the sons of the prophets have come to me from the hill country of Ephraim. Please give them a talent of silver and two changes of clothing.'" ²³ Naaman said, "Be pleased to take two talents." He urged him, and bound two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of clothing, and laid them on two of his servants; and they carried them before him. ²⁴ When he came to the hill, he took them from their hand, and stored them in the house. Then he let the men go, and they departed. ²⁵ But he went in, and stood before his master. Elisha said to him, "Where did you come from, Gehazi?" He said, "Your servant went nowhere." ²⁶ He said to him, "Did not my heart go with you, when the man turned from his chariot to meet you? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and olive groves and vineyards, and sheep and cattle, and male servants and female servants? ²⁷ Therefore the leprosy of Naaman will cling to you and to your descendants forever." He went out from his presence a leper, as white as snow.

⁴ Now the king was talking with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, "Please tell me all the great things that Elisha has done." ⁵ It happened, as he was telling the king how he had restored to life him who was dead, that look, the woman, whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land. Gehazi said, "My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life."

⁵ When they were at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the Jewish synagogues. They had also John as their attendant.

²⁴ I will accept nothing from you except that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men who went with me: Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre. Let them take their portion."

¹ It happened in the days when the judges judged, that there was a famine in the land. A certain man of Bethlehem Judah went to sojourn in the country of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sons. ² The name of the man was Elimelech, and the name of his wife Naomi, and the name of his two sons Mahlon and Kilion, Ephrathites of Bethlehem Judah. They came into the country of Moab, and continued there. ³ Elimelech, Naomi's husband, died; and she was left, and her two sons. ⁴ And they took for themselves wives from the women of Moab; the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the other Ruth: and they lived there about ten years.

¹³ And say to Amasa, 'Arenʼt you my bone and my flesh? Now then, God do so to me, and more also, if you aren't commander of the army before me continually in place of Joab. '"

³² Now Barzillai was a very old man, eighty years old; and he had provided for the king while he was staying at Mahanaim, for he was a very rich man. ³³ The king said to Barzillai, "Come over with me, and I will sustain you with me in Jerusalem." ³⁴ Barzillai said to the king, "How many are the days of the years of my life, that I should go up with the king to Jerusalem? ³⁵ I am this day eighty years old. Can I discern between good and bad? Can your servant taste what I eat or what I drink? Can I hear any more the voice of singing men and singing women? Why then should your servant be yet a burden to my lord the king? ³⁶ Your servant would but just go over the Jordan with the king. Why should the king repay me with such a reward? ³⁷ Please let your servant turn back again, that I may die in my own city, by the grave of my father and my mother. But look, your servant Kimham; let him go over with my lord the king; and do to him what shall seem good to you." ³⁸ The king answered, "Kimham shall go over with me, and I will do to him that which shall seem good to you. Whatever you require of me, that I will do for you."

³² The LORD will return his blood on his own head, because he fell on two men more righteous and better than he, and killed them with the sword, and my father David did not know it: Abner the son of Ner, commander of the army of Israel, and Amasa the son of Jether, captain of the army of Judah.

¹⁵ But now bring me a minstrel." It happened, when the minstrel played, that the hand of the LORD came on him. ¹⁶ He said, "Thus says the LORD, 'Make this valley full of trenches.' ¹⁷ For thus says the LORD, 'You will not see wind, neither will you see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, and you will drink, both you and your livestock and your animals. ¹⁸ This is but a light thing in the sight of the LORD. He will also deliver the Moabites into your hand.

¹ Now Elisha had spoken to the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying, "Arise, and go, you and your household, and stay for a while wherever you can; for the LORD has called for a famine. It shall also come on the land seven years."

³ It happened at the seven years' end, that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines. Then she went forth to cry to the king for her house and for her land. ⁴ Now the king was talking with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, "Please tell me all the great things that Elisha has done." ⁵ It happened, as he was telling the king how he had restored to life him who was dead, that look, the woman, whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land. Gehazi said, "My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life." ⁶ When the king asked the woman, she told him. So the king appointed to her a certain officer, saying, "Restore all that was hers, and all the fruits of the field since the day that she left the land, even until now."

⁵ When he came, look, the captains of the army were sitting. Then he said, "I have a message for you, captain." Jehu said, "To which of us all?" He said, "To you, O captain."

³ Trust in the LORD, and do good. Dwell in the land, and enjoy safe pasture.

⁴⁰ Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me.

³ And he said to them, "Take nothing for your journey—neither staff, nor pack, nor bread, nor money; neither have two coats. ⁴ Into whatever house you enter, stay there, and depart from there. ⁵ As many as do not receive you, when you depart from that city, shake off even the dust from your feet for a testimony against them."

² that you receive her in the Lord, in a way worthy of the saints, and that you assist her in whatever matter she may need from you, for she herself also has been a helper of many, and of my own self.

⁶ Greet Mary, who labored much for you.

¹⁸ But I have received everything in full, and I have an abundance. I am fully supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the things that came from you, a sweet-smelling fragrance, an acceptable and well-pleasing sacrifice to God. ¹⁹ And my God will supply all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.

¹² But we ask you, brothers, to recognize those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you, ¹³ and to respect and honor them in love for their work's sake. Be at peace among yourselves.

⁶ But godliness with contentment is great gain. ⁷ For we brought nothing into the world, so neither can we carry anything out. ⁸ But having food and clothing, we will be content with that.

¹⁶ May the Lord grant mercy to the house of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain, ¹⁷ but when he was in Rome, he sought me diligently, and found me ¹⁸ (the Lord grant to him to find the Lord's mercy in that day); and in how many things he served at Ephesus, you know very well.

¹⁰ For God is not unrighteous, so as to forget your work and the love which you showed toward his name, in that you served the saints, and still do serve them.

⁵ Be free from the love of money, content with such things as you have, for he has said, "I will never leave you or forsake you."

² Abram said, "Lord, what will you give me, seeing I go childless, and the heir of my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?" ³ Then Abram said, "Look, to me you have given no offspring, and look, one born in my house is my heir."

¹⁷ Then Abraham fell on his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, "Will a child be born to him who is one hundred years old? Will Sarah, who is ninety years old, give birth?"

¹⁰ Then he said, "I will certainly return to you at the time of life. Look, Sarah your wife will have a son." Sarah heard from the entrance of the tent, which was behind him. ¹¹ Now Abraham and Sarah were old, well advanced in age. Sarah was past the age of childbearing. ¹² Sarah laughed within herself, saying, "After I have grown old will I have pleasure, my husband being old also?" ¹³ The LORD said to Abraham, "Why did Sarah laugh, saying, 'Will I really bear a child when I am old?' ¹⁴ Is anything too difficult for God? At the set time I will return to you, at the time of life, and Sarah will have a son."

²¹ Isaac prayed for his wife, because she was barren. And God was moved by his prayer, and Rebekah his wife conceived.

¹ When Rachel saw that she was not bearing Jacob any children, Rachel envied her sister. She said to Jacob, "Give me children, or else I will die."

² There was a certain man of Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was barren, and did not bear.

² And he had two wives; the name of the one was Hannah, and the name of other Peninnah. And Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.

⁸ Elkanah her husband said to her, "Hannah, why do you weep? Why do you not eat? Why is your heart grieved? Am I not better to you than ten sons?"

⁷ But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and they both were well advanced in years.

¹⁶ And I will bless her, and moreover I will give you a son by her. And I will bless her, and she will be a mother of nations. Kings of peoples will come from her." ¹⁷ Then Abraham fell on his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, "Will a child be born to him who is one hundred years old? Will Sarah, who is ninety years old, give birth?"

²¹ But my covenant I establish with Isaac, whom Sarah will bear to you at this set time next year."

¹⁰ Then he said, "I will certainly return to you at the time of life. Look, Sarah your wife will have a son." Sarah heard from the entrance of the tent, which was behind him.

¹² Sarah laughed within herself, saying, "After I have grown old will I have pleasure, my husband being old also?" ¹³ The LORD said to Abraham, "Why did Sarah laugh, saying, 'Will I really bear a child when I am old?' ¹⁴ Is anything too difficult for God? At the set time I will return to you, at the time of life, and Sarah will have a son." ¹⁵ But Sarah denied it, saying, "I did not laugh," for she was afraid. He said, "No, but you did laugh."

⁹ And he said, "How have I sinned, that you would deliver your servant into the hand of Ahab, to kill me?

¹⁹ The men of the city said to Elisha, "Look, please, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord sees; but the water is bad, and the land miscarries."

²⁸ Then she said, "Did I ask a son from my lord? Did I not say, Do not deceive me?"

¹⁰ Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, "Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall come again to you, and you shall be clean." ¹¹ But Naaman was angry, and went away, and said, "Look, I thought, 'He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and wave his hand over the place, and heal the leper.'

¹¹ I said in my haste, "All men are liars."

¹³ But the angel said to him, "Do not be afraid, Zechariah, because your request has been heard, and your wife, Elizabeth, will bear you a son, and you are to name him John.

¹⁸ Zechariah said to the angel, "How can I be sure of this? For I am an old man, and my wife is well advanced in years." ¹⁹ The angel answered him, "I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God. I was sent to speak to you, and to bring you this good news. ²⁰ And look, you will be silent and not able to speak, until the day that these things will happen, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled in their proper time."

³⁰ The angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. ³¹ And look, you will conceive in your womb, and bring forth a son, and will call his name 'Jesus.'

¹ Now God visited Sarah as he had said, and did to Sarah as he had spoken.

¹⁹ They rose up in the morning early, and worshiped before the LORD, and returned, and came to their house to Ramah: and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and the LORD remembered her. ²⁰ It happened, when the time had come, that Hannah conceived, and bore a son; and she named him Samuel, saying, "Because I have asked him of the LORD."

⁹ He settles the barren woman in her home, as a joyful mother of children. Praise the LORD.

²⁴ After these days Elizabeth, his wife, conceived, and she hid herself five months, saying, ²⁵ "Thus has the Lord done to me in the days in which he looked at me, to take away my disgrace among people."

³⁶ And look, Elizabeth, your relative, also has conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren.

¹¹ By faith, even barren Sarah herself received power to conceive when she was past age, and gave birth, since she considered him faithful who had promised.

⁴ Look, Boaz came from Bethlehem, and said to the reapers, "The LORD be with you." They answered him, "The LORD bless you."

¹ "Man, who is born of a woman, is of few days, and full of trouble. ² He comes forth like a flower, and is cut down. He also flees like a shadow, and doesn't continue.

¹⁹ My anguish, my anguish. I am pained at my very heart; my heart is disquieted in me; I can't hold my peace; because you have heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.

² He said, "Now take your son, your only one, whom you love, even Isaac, and go into the land of Moriah. Offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains which I will tell you of."

³ Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he had been born to him in his old age. And he made a long ornamented robe for him.

⁵ Now Joseph had a dream, and he told it to his brothers, and they hated him all the more.

¹⁷ It happened after these things, that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick. And his illness was so severe that there was no breath left in him.

¹⁵ "Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yes, these may forget, yet I will not forget you.

¹³ As one whom his mother comforts, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted in Jerusalem."

¹⁶ "Son of man, look, I will take away from you the desire of your eyes with a stroke: yet you shall neither mourn nor weep, neither shall your tears run down. ¹⁷ Sigh, but not aloud, make no mourning for the dead; bind your headdress on you, and put your shoes on your feet, and do not cover your lips, and do not eat men's bread." ¹⁸ So I spoke to the people in the morning; and at even my wife died; and I did in the morning as I was commanded.

³⁵ Yes, a sword will pierce through your own soul, that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed."

¹² And when he drew near to the gate of the city, then look, a man who was dead was carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow; and a large crowd from the city was with her.

³ The sisters therefore sent to him, saying, "Lord, look, the one you love is sick."

⁵ Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.

¹⁴ So Jesus said to them plainly then, "Lazarus is dead.

¹⁰ Please let us make a little room on the wall. Let us set for him there a bed, a table, a chair, and a lamp stand. It shall be, when he comes to us, that he shall turn in there."

³² When Elisha had come into the house, look, the child was dead, and lay on his bed.

²⁴ Then she saddled a donkey, and said to her servant, "Drive, and go forward. Do not slow down for me, unless I ask you to."

²⁶ Please run now to meet her, and ask her, 'Is it well with you? Is it well with your husband? Is it well with the child?'" She answered, "It is well."

³⁸ As Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, hearing that Peter was there, sent two men to him, imploring him not to delay in coming to us.

¹⁰ "Also in the day of your gladness, and in your set feasts, and in the beginnings of your months, you shall blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; and they shall be to you for a memorial before your God. I am the LORD your God."

¹¹ "'In the beginnings of your months you shall offer a burnt offering to the LORD: two young bulls, and one ram, seven male lambs a year old without blemish;

³¹ and to offer all burnt offerings to the LORD, on the Sabbaths, on the new moons, and on the set feasts, in number according to the ordinance concerning them, continually before the LORD;

¹³ Bring no more vain offerings. Incense is an abomination to me; new moons, Sabbaths, and convocations: I can't bear with evil assemblies. ¹⁴ My soul hates your New Moons and your appointed feasts. They are a burden to me. I am weary of bearing them. ¹⁵ When you spread forth your hands, I will hide my eyes from you. Yes, when you make many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood.

²⁰ Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them on a donkey, and he returned to the land of Egypt. Moses took God's rod in his hand.

¹⁹ She said to her young men, "Go on before me. Look, I come after you." But she did not tell her husband, Nabal. ²⁰ It was so, as she rode on her donkey, and came down by the covert of the mountain, that look, David and his men came down toward her; and she met them.

¹³ He said to his sons, "Saddle the donkey for me." So they saddled the donkey for him; and he rode on it.

²³ It happened, after he had eaten bread, and after he had drunk, that he saddled the donkey for the prophet whom he had brought back.

¹⁹ Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel to Mount Carmel, and four hundred fifty of the prophets of Baal, and four hundred of the prophets of the Asherah, who eat at Jezebel's table."

⁴² So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he bowed himself down toward the ground, and put his face between his knees.

²⁵ He went from there to Mount Carmel, and from there he returned to Samaria.

² It will blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing. Lebanon's glory Lebanon will be given to it, the excellence of Carmel and Sharon. They will see the LORD's glory, the excellence of our God.

⁶ He said to them, "Is it well with him?" They said, "It is well. See, Rachel, his daughter, is coming with the sheep."

¹⁴ So he said to him, "Go now, see whether it is well with your brothers and well with the flock, and report back to me." So he sent him from the Valley of Hebron, and he came to Shechem.

³ Then Moses said to Aaron, "This is what the LORD spoke of, saying, 'I will show myself holy to those who come near me, and before all the people I will be glorified.'" Aaron held his peace.

¹⁸ And Samuel told him everything, and did not hide anything from him. And he said, "It is the LORD. Let him do what seems good to him."

¹⁸ and bring these ten cheeses to the captain of their thousand, and see how your brothers are doing, and bring back news."

²³ He said, "Why would you want to go to him today? It is neither new moon nor Sabbath." She said, "It's alright."

²¹ He said, "Naked I came out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return there. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away. Blessed be the name of the LORD." ²² In all this, Job did not sin, nor charge God with wrongdoing.

⁹ I was mute. I did not open my mouth, because you did it.

⁴ and said to him, "Run, speak to this young man, saying, 'Jerusalem will be inhabited as villages without walls, because of the multitude of men and livestock in it.

¹² And as you enter into the household, greet it. ¹³ And if the household is worthy, let your peace come on it, but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you.

³⁶ After some days Paul said to Barnabas, "Let us return now and visit our brothers in every city in which we proclaimed the word of the Lord, to see how they are doing."

¹⁷ And God said, "Will I hide from Abraham what I am about to do,

¹⁰ She was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to the LORD, and wept bitterly.

³ Nathan said to the king, "Go, do all that is in your heart; for the LORD is with you."

²⁵ So she went, and came to the man of God to Mount Carmel. It happened, when the man of God saw her afar off, that he said to Gehazi his servant, "Look, there is the Shunammite.

¹² One of his servants said, "No, my lord, O king; but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the words that you speak in your bedroom."

¹ "My soul is weary of my life. I will give free course to my complaint. I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.

¹⁰ The heart knows its own bitterness and joy; he will not share these with a stranger.

¹⁴ A man's spirit will sustain him in sickness, but a crushed spirit, who can bear?

⁷ Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, unless he reveals his secret to his servants the prophets.

²³ But he did not answer her a word. His disciples came and pleaded with him, saying, "Send her away, for she keeps shouting at us."

³¹ The crowd rebuked them, telling them that they should be quiet, but they shouted even more, "Have mercy on us, Lord, son of David."

⁹ And look, Jesus met them, saying, "Rejoice!" And they came and took hold of his feet, and worshiped him.

¹³ They were bringing to him little children, that he should touch them, but the disciples rebuked them.

⁶ But Jesus said, "Leave her alone. Why do you trouble her? She has done a good work for me.

³⁸ Standing behind at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears, and she wiped them with the hair of her head, kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.

²⁷ At this, his disciples came. They were surprised that he was speaking with a woman; yet no one said, "What are you looking for?" or, "Why do you speak with her?"

⁴ Then Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples, who would betray him, said, ⁵ "Why was this ointment not sold for three hundred denarii, and given to the poor?" ⁶ Now he said this, not because he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and having the money box, used to steal what was put into it. ⁷ But Jesus said, "Leave her alone, that she may keep this for the day of my burial.

¹⁵ No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing. But I have called you friends, for everything that I heard from my Father I have made known to you.

¹⁶ He said, "At this season, when the time comes around, you will embrace a son." She said, "No, my lord, you man of God, do not lie to your handmaid." ¹⁷ You shall take this rod in your hand, with which you shall do the signs."

¹⁹ The LORD said to Moses, "Tell Aaron, 'Take your rod, and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt, over their rivers, over their streams, and over their pools, and over all their ponds of water, that they may become blood; and there shall be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood and in vessels of stone.'" ²⁰ Moses and Aaron did so, as the LORD commanded; and he lifted up the rod, and struck the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh, and in the sight of his servants; and all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood.

¹⁶ Lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go into the midst of the sea on dry ground.

⁴ Seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark. On the seventh day, you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets. ⁵ It shall be that when they make a long blast with the ram's horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall go up every man straight before him."

⁴⁶ The hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he tucked his cloak into his belt and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.

⁸ Elijah took his cloak, and wrapped it together, and struck the waters, and they were divided here and there, so that the two of them went over on dry ground.

¹⁴ And he took the cloak of Elijah that fell from him, and struck the water, and it did not divide. And he said, "Where is the LORD, the God of Elijah, even he?" And he struck the water a second time, and they divided to the one side and to the other; and Elisha crossed over.

¹ Elisha the prophet called one of the sons of the prophets, and said to him, "Put your belt on your waist, take this vial of oil in your hand, and go to Ramoth Gilead.

⁴ Carry no money bag, nor pack, nor sandals; and greet no one on the way.

¹⁶ By faith in his name, his name has made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which is through him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

¹² so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were carried away from his body to the sick, and the evil spirits went out.

¹⁴ Stand therefore, having the belt of truth buckled around your waist, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,

¹³ Therefore, prepare your minds for action, be sober and set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

¹² Moses said to the LORD, "Look, you tell me, 'Bring up this people:' and you haven't let me know whom you will send with me. Yet you have said, 'I know you by name, and you have also found favor in my sight.' ¹³ Now therefore, if I have found favor in your sight, please show me now your ways, that I may know you, so that I may find favor in your sight: and consider that this nation is your people." ¹⁴ He said, "My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest." ¹⁵ He said to him, "If your presence doesn't go with me, do not carry us up from here. ¹⁶ For how would people know that I have found favor in your sight, I and your people? Isn't it in that you go with us, so that we are separated, I and your people, from all the people who are on the surface of the earth?"

¹⁶ Ruth said, "Do not urge me to leave you, and to return from following after you, for where you go, I will go; and where you stay, I will stay; your people shall be my people, and your God my God; ¹⁷ where you die, will I die, and there will I be buried. The LORD do so to me, and more also, if anything but death part you and me." ¹⁸ When she saw that she was steadfastly minded to go with her, she left off speaking to her.

² Elijah said to Elisha, "Please wait here, for the LORD has sent me as far as Bethel." Elisha said, "As the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you." So they went down to Bethel.

⁴ Elijah said to him, "Elisha, please wait here, for the LORD has sent me to Jericho." He said, "As the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you." So they came to Jericho.

³⁷ Saul asked counsel of God, "Shall I go down after the Philistines? Will you deliver them into the hand of Israel?" But he did not answer him that day.

⁶ When Saul inquired of the LORD, The LORD did not answer him, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets.

²⁶ And they took the bull which was given them, and they prepared it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, "Baal, answer us." But there was no voice, nor any who answered. And they limped about the altar they had made.

²⁹ And when midday was past, they prophesied until the offering up of the offering; but there was no voice, no answer, and no response.

¹² so man lies down and doesn't rise. Until the heavens are no more, they shall not awake, nor be roused out of their sleep.

³ "Son of man, these men have taken their idols into their heart, and put the stumbling block of their iniquity before their face: should I be inquired of at all by them?

² Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

¹⁶ So I brought him to your disciples, and they could not cure him." ¹⁷ Jesus answered, "Faithless and perverse generation. How long will I be with you? How long will I bear with you? Bring him here to me." ¹⁸ Jesus rebuked him, the demon went out of him, and the boy was cured from that hour. ¹⁹ Then the disciples came to Jesus privately, and said, "Why weren't we able to cast it out?" ²⁰ So he said to them, "Because of your little faith. For truly I tell you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you."

³⁹ And when he had entered in, he said to them, "Why do you make an uproar and weep? The child is not dead, but is asleep."

¹⁹ And answering, he said to them, "You unbelieving generation, how long must I be with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring him to me." ²⁰ They brought him to him, and when he saw him, immediately the spirit convulsed him, and he fell on the ground, wallowing and foaming at the mouth. ²¹ He asked his father, "How long has it been since this has come to him?" He said, "From childhood. ²² And it has often cast him both into fire and into water, to destroy him. But if you can do anything, have compassion on us, and help us." ²³ Jesus said to him, "'If you can?' All things are possible to him who believes." ²⁴ Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, "I believe. Help my unbelief." ²⁵ When Jesus saw that a crowd came running together, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to him, "You deaf and mute spirit, I command you, come out of him, and never enter him again." ²⁶ Having screamed, and convulsed greatly, it came out of him. The boy became like one dead; so much that most of them said, "He is dead." ²⁷ But Jesus took him by the hand, and raised him up; and he arose. ²⁸ And when he had come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, "Why could we not cast it out?" ²⁹ And he said to them, "This kind cannot come out by anything but prayer and fasting."

¹¹ He said these things, and after that, he said to them, "Our friend, Lazarus, has fallen asleep, but I am going so that I may awake him out of sleep."

⁴³ When he had said this, he shouted with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out." ⁴⁴ The man who had died came out, bound hand and foot with wrappings, and his face was wrapped around with a cloth. Jesus said to them, "Free him, and let him go."

¹³ But some of the itinerant Jews, exorcists, took on themselves to invoke over those who had the evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, "I adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preaches." ¹⁴ There were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, who did this. ¹⁵ The evil spirit answered, "Jesus I know, and Paul I know, but who are you?" ¹⁶ And the man in whom the evil spirit was, having leapt on them, having overpowered them all, prevailed against them so that they fled from that house naked and wounded. ¹⁷ This became known to all, both Jews and Greeks, who lived at Ephesus. Fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.

¹⁴ Therefore he says, "Awake, you who sleep, and rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you."

⁵² All were weeping and mourning her, but he said, "Do not weep. She is not dead, but sleeping." ⁵³ They were ridiculing him, knowing that she was dead.

¹⁷ So when Jesus came, he found that he had been in the tomb four days already.

²⁰ He cried to the LORD, and said, "LORD my God, have you also brought disaster on the widow with whom I sojourn, by killing her son?" ²¹ And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and called out to the LORD, and said, "LORD my God, please let this child's soul come into him again."

²⁶ And they took the bull which was given them, and they prepared it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, "Baal, answer us." But there was no voice, nor any who answered. And they limped about the altar they had made. ²⁷ And it came about, at noon, that Elijah mocked them, and said, "Cry aloud, for he is a god. Maybe he is thinking about it, or he is busy, or he is on a trip, or perhaps he is sleeping and must be awakened."

⁴ You shall go in, and shut the door on you and on your sons, and pour out into all those containers; and you shall set aside that which is full."

¹⁷ Then Elisha prayed and said, "LORD, please open his eyes, that he may see." The LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and look, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire around Elisha. ¹⁸ When they came down to him, Elisha prayed to the LORD, and said, "Please strike this people with blindness." He struck them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.

²⁰ It happened, when they had come into Samaria, that Elisha said, "LORD, open the eyes of these men, that they may see." The LORD opened their eyes, and they saw; and look, they were in the midst of Samaria.

⁵¹ When he came to the house, he did not allow anyone to enter in with him, except Peter, John, James, the father of the child, and her mother.

⁴¹ So they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, "Father, I thank you that you listened to me. ⁴² I know that you always listen to me, but because of the crowd that stands around I said this, that they may believe that you sent me."

¹³ Is anyone among you suffering? He should pray. Is anyone cheerful? He should sing praises. ¹⁴ Is anyone among you sick? He should call for the elders of the church, and they should pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. ¹⁵ And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. ¹⁶ Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective. ¹⁷ Elijah was a human being with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. ¹⁸ He prayed again, and the sky gave rain, and the earth brought forth its fruit.

²¹ And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and called out to the LORD, and said, "LORD my God, please let this child's soul come into him again."

¹⁰ Paul went down, and fell upon him, and embracing him said, "Do not be troubled, for his life is in him."

²² The LORD listened to the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived.

⁵ It happened, as he was telling the king how he had restored to life him who was dead, that look, the woman, whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land. Gehazi said, "My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life."

²¹ It happened, as they were burying a man, that look, they spied a band; and they cast the man into the tomb of Elisha: and as soon as the man touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet.

¹⁴ He came near and touched the coffin, and the bearers stood still. He said, "Young man, I tell you, arise." ¹⁵ He who was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he gave him to his mother.

⁵⁵ Her spirit returned, and she rose up immediately. He commanded that something be given to her to eat.

²³ And Elijah took the child and brought him down out of the room into the house and gave him to his mother. And Elijah said, "See, your son lives."

²⁷ When she came to the man of God to the hill, she caught hold of his feet. Gehazi came near to thrust her away; but the man of God said, "Leave her alone; for her soul is troubled within her; and the LORD has hidden it from me, and has not told me."

²⁶ When I break your staff of bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall deliver your bread again by weight: and you shall eat, and not be satisfied.

²² The LORD will strike you with consumption, and with fever, and with inflammation, and with fiery heat, and with the sword, and with blight, and with mildew; and they shall pursue you until you perish. ²³ Your sky that is over your head shall be bronze, and the earth that is under you shall be iron. ²⁴ The LORD will make the rain of your land powder and dust: from the sky shall it come down on you, until you are destroyed.

³⁸ You shall carry much seed out into the field, and shall gather little in; for the locust shall consume it. ³⁹ You shall plant vineyards and dress them, but you shall neither drink of the wine, nor harvest; for the worm shall eat them. ⁴⁰ You shall have olive trees throughout all your borders, but you shall not anoint yourself with the oil; for your olives shall drop off.

¹⁶ He went from year to year in circuit to Bethel and Gilgal, and Mizpah; and he judged Israel in all those places. ¹⁷ His return was to Ramah, for there was his house; and there he judged Israel: and he built there an altar to the LORD.

²⁰ And Saul sent messengers to capture David. But when they saw a company of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as head over them, the Spirit of God came upon the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied.

¹ There was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David sought the face of the LORD. The LORD said, "It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he put to death the Gibeonites."

¹ It happened, when the LORD would take up Elijah by a whirlwind into heaven, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.

¹³ "Son of man, when a land sins against me by committing a trespass, and I stretch out my hand on it, and break the staff of its bread, and send famine on it, and cut off from it man and animal;

³ Utter a parable to the rebellious house, and tell them, 'Thus says the Lord GOD, "Set on the caldron, set it on, and also pour water into it:

³⁷ But he answered them, "You give them something to eat." And they said to him, "Are we to go and buy two hundred denarii worth of bread, and give them something to eat?"

² "I have compassion on the crowd, because they have stayed with me now three days, and have nothing to eat. ³ If I send them away fasting to their home, they will faint on the way, and some of them have come a long way." ⁴ His disciples answered him, "From where could one satisfy these people with bread here in a deserted place?" ⁵ He asked them, "How many loaves do you have?" They said, "Seven." ⁶ He commanded the crowd to sit down on the ground, and he took the seven loaves. Having given thanks, he broke them, and gave them to his disciples to serve, and they served the crowd.

⁴⁶ It happened after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them, and asking them questions.

²⁵ But truly I tell you, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the sky was shut up three years and six months, when a great famine came over all the land.

³⁵ Then people went out to see what had happened. They came to Jesus, and found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting at Jesus' feet, clothed and in his right mind; and they were afraid.

³⁸ But the man from whom the demons had gone out begged him that he might go with him, but Jesus sent him away, saying,

¹³ But he said to them, "You give them something to eat." They said, "We have no more than five loaves and two fish, unless we should go and buy food for all these people."

³⁹ She had a sister called Mary, who also sat at the Lord's feet, and heard his word.

⁵ Jesus therefore said to them, "Children, have you anything to eat?" They answered him, "No."

⁹ So when they got out on the land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish placed on it, and bread.

³⁸ even Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.

³ "I am indeed a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, instructed according to the strict manner of the Law of our fathers, being zealous for God, even as you all are this day.

⁴ What could have been done more to my vineyard, that I have not done in it? Why, when I looked for it to yield grapes, did it yield wild grapes?

²¹ Yet I had planted you a noble vine, wholly a right seed. How then have you turned into the degenerate branches of a foreign vine to me?

¹³ But he answered, "Every plant which my heavenly Father did not plant will be uprooted.

¹⁵ looking carefully lest there be anyone who falls short of the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by it many become defiled;

¹⁷ Now therefore please forgive my sin again, and pray to the LORD your God, that he may also take away from me this death."

²³ When they came to Marah, they couldn't drink from the waters of Marah, for they were bitter. Therefore its name was called Marah.

⁹ Then the king sent a captain of fifty with his fifty to him. He went up to him; and look, he was sitting on the top of the hill. He said to him, "Man of God, the king has said, 'Come down.'"

¹¹ Again he sent to him another captain of fifty and his fifty. And he went up and said to him, "Man of God, the king has said, 'Come down quickly.'"

¹³ Again he sent the captain of a third fifty with his fifty. The third captain of fifty went up, and came and fell on his knees before Elijah, and begged him, and said to him, "Man of God, please let my life, and the life of these fifty your servants, be precious in your sight.

⁹ She said to her husband, "See now, I perceive that this is a holy man of God, that passes by us continually.

¹⁸ they will pick up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not harm them; they will place their hands on the sick, and they will be made well."

²⁵ Then he cried to the LORD. The LORD showed him a tree, and he threw it into the waters, and the waters were made sweet. There he made a statute and an ordinance for them, and there he tested them;

²¹ He went out to the spring of the waters, and threw salt into it, and said, "Thus says the LORD, 'I have healed these waters. There shall not be from there any more death or miscarrying.'"

¹⁰ Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, "Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall come again to you, and you shall be clean."

⁶ The man of God asked, "Where did it fall?" He showed him the place. He cut down a stick, threw it in there, and made the iron float.

⁶ When he had said this, he spat on the ground, made mud with the saliva, anointed the blind man's eyes with the mud,

⁵ However he shook off the creature into the fire, and was not harmed.

²⁵ Because the foolishness of God is wiser than man's, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's.

¹⁶ And the feast of harvest, the first fruits of your labors, which you sow in the field: and the feast of harvest, at the end of the year, when you gather in your labors out of the field.

⁸ a land of wheat and barley, and vines and fig trees and pomegranates; a land of olive trees and honey;

⁶ and there you shall bring your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and the wave offering of your hand, and your vows, and your freewill offerings, and the firstborn of your herd and of your flock:

² that you shall take of the first of all the fruit of the ground, which you shall bring in from your land that the LORD your God gives you; and you shall put it in a basket, and shall go to the place which the LORD your God shall choose, to cause his name to dwell there. ³ You shall come to the priest who shall be in those days, and tell him, "I profess this day to the LORD my God, that I have come into the land which the LORD swore to our fathers to give us." ⁴ The priest shall take the basket out of your hand, and set it down before the altar of the LORD your God. ⁵ You shall answer and say before the LORD your God, "A wandering Aramean was my father, and he went down into Egypt, and lived there, few in number, and there he became a nation, great, mighty, and numerous. ⁶ The Egyptians mistreated us, and afflicted us, and laid on us hard bondage: ⁷ and we cried to the LORD, the God of our fathers, and the LORD heard our voice, and saw our affliction, and our toil, and our oppression; ⁸ and the LORD brought us forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with great terror, and with signs, and with wonders; ⁹ and he has brought us into this place, and has given us this land, a land flowing with milk and honey. ¹⁰ Now, look, I have brought the first of the fruit of the ground, which you, LORD, have given me." You shall set it down before the LORD your God, and worship before the LORD your God.

¹⁴ Butter of the herd, and milk of the flock, with fat of lambs, rams of the breed of Bashan, and goats, with the finest of the wheat. Of the blood of the grape you drank wine.

⁴ He passed through the hill country of Ephraim and passed through the land of Shalishah, but they did not find them. Then they passed through the land of Shaalim, but they weren't there. Then he passed through the land of the Jaminites, but they did not find them.

⁷ Then Saul said to his servant, "But look, if we go, what shall we bring the man? For the bread is gone in our vessels, and there is no gift to bring to the man of God. What do we have?"

¹ Elisha said, "Hear the word of the LORD. Thus says the LORD, 'Tomorrow about this time a measure of fine flour will be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.'"

¹⁶ The people went out, and plundered the camp of the Arameans. So a measure of fine flour was sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, according to the word of the LORD. ¹⁷ The king appointed the captain on whose hand he leaned to be in charge of the gate: and the people trod on him in the gate, and he died as the man of God had said, who spoke when the king came down to him. ¹⁸ It happened, as the man of God had spoken to the king, saying, "Two measures of barley for a shekel, and a measure of fine flour for a shekel, shall be tomorrow about this time in the gate of Samaria";

¹³ The priests and the Levites who were in all Israel resorted to him out of all their border. ¹⁴ For the Levites left their suburbs and their possession, and came to Judah and Jerusalem: for Jeroboam and his sons cast them off, that they should not execute the priest's office to the LORD;

⁹ Honor the LORD with your substance, with the first fruits of all your increase: ¹⁰ so your storehouses will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine.

¹⁶ But Jesus said to them, "They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat." ¹⁷ And they told him, "We only have here five loaves and two fish." ¹⁸ So he said, "Bring them here to me." ¹⁹ Then he commanded the crowds to sit down on the grass; and he took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, broke and gave the loaves to the disciples, and the disciples gave to the crowds. ²⁰ And they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of that which remained left over from the broken pieces. ²¹ Now those who ate were about five thousand men, besides women and children.

³² Jesus summoned the disciples and said, "I have compassion on the crowd, because they continue with me now three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away fasting, or they might faint on the way." ³³ Then the disciples said to him, "Where should we get so many loaves in a deserted place as to satisfy so great a crowd?" ³⁴ Jesus said to them, "How many loaves do you have?" They said, "Seven, and a few small fish." ³⁵ He commanded the crowd to sit down on the ground; ³⁶ and he took the seven loaves and the fish. He gave thanks and broke them, and gave to the disciples, and the disciples to the crowds. ³⁷ They all ate, and were filled. They took up seven baskets full of the broken pieces that were left over. ³⁸ Those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children.

⁹ "There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are these among so many?"

¹³ So they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with broken pieces from the five barley loaves, which were left over by those who had eaten.

¹¹ If we sowed to you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we reap your fleshly things?

⁶ But let him who is taught in the word share all good things with him who teaches.

¹⁶ But Jesus said to them, "They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat." ¹⁷ And they told him, "We only have here five loaves and two fish."

³³ Then the disciples said to him, "Where should we get so many loaves in a deserted place as to satisfy so great a crowd?" ³⁴ Jesus said to them, "How many loaves do you have?" They said, "Seven, and a few small fish."

⁸ But Jesus, becoming aware of this, said, "You of little faith, why are you discussing among yourselves about having no bread? ⁹ Do you still not understand? Do you not remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many baskets you took up? ¹⁰ Nor the seven loaves for the four thousand, and how many baskets you took up?

³⁷ But he answered them, "You give them something to eat." And they said to him, "Are we to go and buy two hundred denarii worth of bread, and give them something to eat?" ³⁸ He said to them, "How many loaves do you have? Go see." When they knew, they said, "Five, and two fish." ³⁹ He commanded them that everyone should sit down in groups on the green grass.

⁴² They all ate, and were filled. ⁴³ They took up twelve baskets full of broken pieces and also of the fish.

⁴ His disciples answered him, "From where could one satisfy these people with bread here in a deserted place?"

²⁰ "When the seven loaves fed the four thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces did you take up?" And they said, "Seven."

¹⁷ They ate, and were all filled. They gathered up twelve baskets of broken pieces that were left over.

¹¹ Jesus took the loaves; and having given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to those who were sitting down; likewise also of the fish as much as they desired. ¹² When they were filled, he said to his disciples, "Gather up the broken pieces which are left over, that nothing be lost." ¹³ So they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with broken pieces from the five barley loaves, which were left over by those who had eaten.
