²⁴ Not that we rule over your faith, but are fellow workers with you for your joy. For you stand firm in faith.

⁸ But you are not to be called 'Rabbi,' for one is your Teacher, and all of you are brothers. ⁹ Call no man on the earth your father, for one is your Father, he who is in heaven. ¹⁰ Neither be called masters, for one is your master, the Christ.

⁴⁹ and begins to beat his fellow servants, and eat and drink with the drunkards,

¹² that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith, both yours and mine.

² through whom we also have our access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

²⁰ True; by their unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by your faith. Do not be conceited, but fear;

⁵ What then is Apollos? And what is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, and each as the Lord gave to him.

¹ Now I declare to you, brothers, the Good News which I preached to you, which also you received, in which you also stand,

¹ For I determined this for myself, that I would not come to you again in sorrow. ² For if I make you sorry, then who will make me glad but he who is made sorry by me? ³ And I wrote this very thing, so that, when I came, I would not have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy would be shared by all of you.

⁵ For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your slaves because of Jesus.

⁷ for we walk by faith, not by sight.

¹⁴ Stand therefore, having the belt of truth buckled around your waist, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, ¹⁵ and having fitted your feet with the preparation of the Good News of peace; ¹⁶ above all, taking up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one.

²⁵ And since I am persuaded of this, I know that I will remain and continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith, ²⁶ that your rejoicing may abound in Christ Jesus in me through my presence with you again.

²⁴ The Lord's servant must not quarrel, but be gentle towards all, able to teach, patient, ²⁵ in gentleness correcting those who oppose him: perhaps God may give them repentance leading to a full knowledge of the truth, ²⁶ and they may recover themselves out of the devil's snare, having been taken captive by him to his will.

³ neither as lording it over those entrusted to you, but making yourselves examples to the flock.

⁸ Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. ⁹ Withstand him steadfast in your faith, knowing that your brothers who are in the world are undergoing the same sufferings.
