²² And unless those days should be cut short, no flesh would remain alive. But, for the elect's sake, those days will be cut short.

¹⁴ For the called are many, and the chosen are few.

²⁴ For there will arise false Messiahs, and mendacious prophets; who will exhibit great signs, so as to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

³¹ And he will send his angels with a great trumpet and they will collect together his elect from the four winds, from one extremity of heaven to the other.

²⁰ And, unless God should shorten those days, no flesh would live. But, on account of the elect whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened those days.

⁷ And will not God, much more, vindicate his chosen, who call upon him by day and by night; and have patience with them?

¹¹ before her children were born, or: had done good or evil, the choice of God was predeclared; that it might stand, not of works, but of him who called.

²⁵ And that ye, my brethren, may not be wise in your own apprehension, I wish you to know this mystery, that blindness of heart hath in some measure befallen Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles shall come in: ²⁶ and then, will all Israel live. As it is written: A deliverer will come from Zion, and will turn away iniquity from Jacob. ²⁷ And then will they have the covenant that proceedeth from me, when I shall have forgiven their sins. ²⁸ Now, in the gospel, they are enemies for your sake; but in the election, they are beloved for the fathers' sake. ²⁹ For God is not changeable in his free gift and in his calling. ³⁰ For as ye too were formerly disobedient to God, and have now obtained mercy, because of their disobedience; ³¹ so also are they now disobedient to the mercy, which is upon you, that there may be mercy on them likewise.

¹⁰ Therefore I endure every thing, for the elect's sake; that they also may obtain life, in Jesus the Messiah, with eternal glory.
