¹⁶ he who believes and is baptized shall be saved, but he who will not believe shall be condemned.

¹⁹ go and make disciples of all nations, baptize them in the name of the Father and the Son and the holy Spirit,

⁴⁶ So Paul and Barnabas spoke out fearlessly. "The word of God," they said, "had to be spoken to you in the first instance; but as you push it aside and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, well, here we turn to the Gentiles!

³⁰ and brought them out (after securing the other prisoners). "Sirs," he said, "what must I do to be saved?" ³¹ "Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ," they said, "and then you will be saved, you and your household as well." ³² And they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all in his house.

¹⁶ And now, why do you wait? Get up and be baptized and wash away your sins, invoking his name.'

⁶ Never! In that case, how could he judge the world?

²⁴ but for our sakes as well; faith will be counted to us as we believe in Him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead,

⁹ Confess with your mouth that 'Jesus is Lord,' believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, and you will be saved; ¹⁰ for with his heart man believes and is justified, with his mouth he confesses and is saved. ¹¹ No one who believes in him, the scripture says, will ever be disappointed. No one — ¹² for there is no distinction of Jew and Greek, the same Lord is Lord of them all, with ample for all who invoke him. ¹³ Everyone who invokes the name of the Lord shall be saved. ¹⁴ But how are they to invoke One in whom they do not believe? And how are they to believe in One of whom they have never heard? And how are they ever to hear, without a preacher?

⁸ in flaming fire, to inflict punishment on those who ignore God, even on those who refuse obedience to the gospel of our Lord Jesus,

¹² so that all may be doomed who refuse faith in the Truth but delight in evil.

³⁸ Meantime my just man shall live on by his faith; if he shrinks back, my soul takes no delight in him. ³⁹ We are not the men to shrink back and be lost, but to have faith and so to win our souls.

²¹ it is by him that you believe in God who raised him from the dead and gave him glory; and thus your faith means hope in God.

²¹ Baptism, the counterpart of that, saves you to-day (not the mere washing of dirt from the flesh but the prayer for a clean conscience before God) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ

¹⁰ He who believes in the Son of God possesses that testimony within himself; he who will not believe God, has made God a liar by refusing to believe the testimony which God has borne to his Son. ¹¹ And the testimony is, that God gave us life eternal and this life is in his Son. ¹² He who possesses the Son possesses life: he who does not possess the Son does not possess life. ¹³ I have written in this way to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may be sure you have life eternal.

¹⁵ and whoever was not found enrolled in the book of Life was flung into the lake of fire — which is the second death, the lake of fire.

⁸ but as for the craven, the faithless, the abominable, as for murderers, the immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and liars of all kinds — their lot is the lake that blazes with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."
