¹ The Reuelacyon of Iesus Christe which God gaue vnto hym, for to shew vnto his seruauntes thinges whiche muste shortely come to passe. And he sent and shewed by hys angel vnto hys seruaunt Iohn ² whiche bare recorde of the word of God, and of the testimonye of Iesus Christe, and of all thynges that he sawe. ³ Happye is he that readeth, and they that heare the wordes of the prophecye, and kepe those thynges which are wrytten therein. For the tyme is at hande. ⁴ Iohn to the .vij. congregacyons in Asia. Grace be wyth you and peace, from hym which is, and whiche was, and whiche is to come, & from the .vij. spyrites which are present before hys throne, ⁵ and from Iesus Christ, whiche is a faythfull wytnes, and fyrst begotten of the dead, and Lorde ouer the kynges of the earth. Vnto him, that loued vs and washed vs from synnes in his owne bloude, ⁶ & made vs kinges and priestes vnto God his father: be glorye and dominyon for euer more. Amen. ⁷ Behold he commeth wyth cloudes, and al eyes shal se him: and they also whiche persed hym. And all kynredes of the earth shal waile. Euen so. Amen: ⁸ I am Alpha and Omega, the begynnynge and the endynge, sayeth the Lorde almyghty, whiche is, which was, and whiche is to come. ⁹ I Iohn your brother and companyon in trybulacyon, and in the kyngdome and pacyence whiche is in Iesu Christe, was in the yle of Pathmos for the worde of God, and for the wytnessynge of Iesu Christ ¹⁰ I was in the spirite on a sondaye, and hearde behynde me a great voyce, as it had bene of a trompe, ¹¹ saiynge. I am Alpha and Omega, the fyrst and the laste. That thou seest wryte in a boke, and sende it vnto the congregacyons which are in Asia, vnto Ephesus, and vnto Smyrna, & vnto Pergamos, and vnto Sardis, & vnto Phyladelphia, and vnto Laodicia. ¹² And I turned backe to se the voyce that spake to me. And when I was turned, I sawe .vij. golden candelstickes, ¹³ and in the myddes of the candelstickes, one lyke vnto the sonne of man clothed wyth a lynnen garment doune to the grounde, and gyrde aboute the pappes with a golden gyrdle. ¹⁴ Hys heade and hys heares were whyte, as whyte woul and as snowe: & hys eyes were as a flamme of fyre: ¹⁵ & hys fete lyke vnto brasse, as thoughe they brent in a fornace: & his voice as the sound of many waters. ¹⁶ And he had in hys ryghthande .vij. starres. And out of his mouth went a sharp two edged sweard. And hys face shone euen as the sonne in hys strength. ¹⁷ And when I sawe hym, I fell at hys fete, euen as dead. And he layde hys ryght hande vpon me, saiynge vnto me: feare not, I am the fyrste, and the laste, ¹⁸ and am alyue, and was dead. And beholde I am alyue for euer more and haue the kayes of hell, & of death. ¹⁹ Write therfore the thynges, whiche thou hast sene, & the thynges whiche are, & the thynges which shalbe fulfylled here after: ²⁰ and the misery of the .vij. starres which thou sawest in my right hande, and the .vij. golden candelstickes. The .vij. starres are the messengers of the .vij. congregacions: And the .vij. candelstyckes which thou sawest are the .vij. congregacyons.

¹ After these dedes, the worde of God, came vnto Abram in a vision sayinge: Feare not Abram, I am thy shyld, and thy rewarde shall be exceadynge greate.

³ And God almyghty blesse the, encrease the, and multiply the that thou mayst be a numbre of people,

¹¹ And God sayd vnto hym: I am God almighty, growe & multiplye: for people and a multitude of people shall sprynge of the, yea & kinges shal come out of thy loynes.

¹⁴ And God almightye geue you mercy in the syghte of the man and send you youre other brother and also BenIamin, and I wylbe as a man robbed of his chyldren.

³ & sayd vnto Ioseph: God almyghtie apeared vnto me at Lus in the land of Canaan, and blessed me,

²⁵ Thy fathers God shall helpe the, & the almyghtie shal blesse the wt blessynges from heauen aboue, and wyth blessynges of the water that lieth vnder, & with blessynges of the brestes and of the wombe.

¹⁴ Then sayd God vnto Moyses: I wilbe what I wyll be: & he said, this shalt thou say vnto the children of Israel: I wilbe did send me to you.

³ and I appeared vnto Abraham, Isaac, & Iacob an almyghtye God: but in my name Iehouah was I not knowne vnto them.

¹³ And Moses sayde vnto the people: feare ye not but stonde styll and beholde howe the Lorde shall saue you thys daye: For as ye se the Egyptians thys daye, shall ye se them nomore for euer tyl the worldes ende.

⁶ Ye shalbe vnto me a kyngdome of priestes & an holy people: these are the wordes which thou shalt say vnto the children of Israel.

³⁷ And thou shalt make .vij. lampes and put them an hye there on, to geue lighte vnto the other syde that is ouer agaynst it:

⁶ And they shall make the Ephod of golde, iacincte, scarlet, purpull and whyte twined bysse with brothered worke. ⁷ The two sides shall come together, closed vp in the edges therof. ⁸ And the gyrdell of the Ephod shalbe of the same worckemanshyppe and of the same stuffe, euen of golde, iacyncte, scarlette, purpull and twyned bysse.

⁵ And the brodrynge of the gyrdell that was vpon it, was of the same stuffe and after the same worcke of golde, iacincte, scarlet, purple and twyned bysse, as the Lorde commaunded Moses.

⁷ & put vpon him the albe & gyrded hym wyth a gyrdle, & put vpon hym the tunicle, & put the Ephod theron, and gyrded hym with the brodered gyrdle of the Ephod, and bound it vnto hym therwt.

⁴ and the manne whose eye is open hath sayed: he hath sayd whych heareth the words of God & seeth the visions of the almyghty, whiche falleth downe: & hys eyes are opened.

¹⁷ I se him but not now, I behold hym but not nye. There shall come a starre of Iacob and ryse a scepter of Israel, which shal smite the costes of Moab and vndermine all the chyldren of Seth.

⁸ But bycause the Lord loued you & bicause he would kepe the oth whych he hadde sworne vnto your fathers, therfore he brought you out of Egypt with a mighty hande and deliuered you out of the house of bondage: euen from the hande of Pharao, kynge of Egypt.

⁵ Neuerthelesse the Lorde thy God wolde not herken vnto Balaam, but turned the curse to a blessing vnto the, because the Lorde thy God loued the.

¹⁹ Now therfore wryte ye this song, & teach it the chyldren of Israell and putt it in theyr mouthes, that this song maye be my witnes vnto the children of Israel.

³¹ So perysh all thyne enemyes Lord: but they that loue the, let them be as the sunne rysyng in his might. And the lande had reste fourthye yeares.

²⁵ For I am sure, that my redemer liueth & that I shal ryse out of the earth in the latter day: ²⁶ that I shal be clothed againe wyth thys skynne, & se God in my fleshe. ²⁷ Ye I my selfe shal beholde hym, not wyth other but wyth these same eyes. My reynes are consumed within me,

²⁶ For yf he submytte hym self vnto God he is gracyous, and sheweth hym his countenaunce ioyfully, and rewardeth man for hys ryghtuousnes.

⁷ Where wast thou when the mornyng starres praysed me together & all the chyldren of God reioysed triumphantly?

⁴⁶ The Lorde lyueth: and blessed be, my helper, praysed be the God of my health.

¹⁸ Blessed be the Lorde God, euen the God of Israell, whiche onely doeth wonderous thinges. ¹⁹ And blessed be the name of his maiesty for euer, and al landes be fulfilled with his glory. Amen, Amen.

²⁷ And I will make hym my fyrste borne, hyer then the kynges of the earth.

³⁶ Hys sede shall endure for euer, and hys seate also lyke as the sunne before me. ³⁷ He shall stande faste for euermore as the moone, and as the faythfull wytnesse in heauen. Selah.

⁴ The waues of the sea are mightye, & rage horribly: but yet the Lorde that dwelled on hye, is mightier.

²⁵ Thou Lorde in the beginnyng hast layed the foundacion of the earth, and the heauens are the workes of thy handes. ²⁶ They shal perish, but thou shalt endure: they all shall wexe olde as doth a garment, & as a vesture shalt thou chaunge them, & they shalbe chaunged. ²⁷ But thou art the same, & thy yeares shall not fayle.

¹⁵ Thorow me, kinges reygn: thorow me, prynces make iust lawes. ¹⁶ Thorow me, lordes beare rule, and all iudges of the earth execute iudgement.

³⁴ Blessed is the man that heareth me, watchynge dayly at my gates, & geuynge attendaunce at the postes of my dores.

⁶ For vnto vs a chylde shalbe borne, and vnto vs a sonne shalbe geuen. Vpon his shoulder shall the kyngedome lye, and he shalbe called with hys owne name. The wonderous geuer of councel, the myghty God, the euerlastinge father, the prynce of peace,

⁴ but wyth ryghteousnesse shall he iudge the poore, and with holynes shal he refourme the symple of the worlde. He shall smyte the worlde wyth the staffe of hys mouthe, & with the breathe of his mouth shall he slay the wicked. ⁵ Ryghteousnesse shalbe the gyrdle of his loynes, truthe & faythfulnesse, the gyrdynge vp of hys raynes.

¹³ For thoughe so manye people increase as the flowynge waters, and though they be armed yet they fle farre of, and vanyshe awaye lyke the dust with the winde vpon an hill, and as the whirle winde thorow a storme.

⁸ Wherfore go hence, and wryte them thys in theyr tables, & note it in a boke: that it may remayne by theyr posteryte, & be styll kept.

⁴ Who hath made, created, and called the generacions from the begynnyng? Euen I the Lorde, whiche am the fyrst, and with the last.

¹⁰ be not afrayd, for I will be with the. Loke not behynde the, for I will be thy God, to strength the, helpe the, and to kepe the with this right hand of myne.

¹⁰ But I bring you wytnesses (sayth the Lorde) euen those that are my seruauntes, whom I haue chosen: to the intent that ye myght be certyfyed and geue me faythfull credence: yee & to consydre, that I am he, before whom there was neuer any God, and that there shalbe none after me.

⁶ Moreouer, thus hath the Lorde spoken: euen the Kynge of Israel, and his auenger, the Lorde of Hostes: I am the fyrst & the last, and with out me is there no God.

¹² Herken vnto me O Iacob, and Israel whom I haue called I am euen he that is, I am the fyrst & the last.

⁴ Beholde, I shall geue him for a wytnesse amonge the folke, for a Prynce and Captaine vnto the people.

¹⁵ For thus sayeth the hye and excellent, euen he that dwelleth in euerlastingnesse, whose name is the holy one. I dwell hye aboue & in the sanctuary, and with him also, that is of a contrite & humble spirite: that I maye heale a troubled mind, & a contrite hert.

⁶ But ye shalbe named the priestes of the lord, & men shall call you the seruauntes of oure God. Ye shall enioye the goodes of the Gentiles and triumphe in their substaunce.

² Thus saith the Lorde God of Israell: Wryte vp dylygentlye al the wordes, that I haue spoken vnto the, in a boke.

Yee the shyne & glystre that lyghtened rounde aboute, ²⁸ was lyke a raynbowe, which in a raynye daye appeareth in the cloudes. Euen so was the symylitude, wherin the glory of the Lorde appeared. When I sawe it, I fel vpon my face, and herkened vnto the voyce of him that spake.

³⁴ When this tyme was passed, I Nabuchodonosor lyfte vp myne eyes vnto heauen, and myne vnderstandynge was restored vnto me agayne. Then gaue I thanckes vnto the hyghest. I magnifyed and praysed hym that lyueth for euermore, whose power endureth alwaye, and his kingdome from one generacion to another:

⁹ I loked tyl the seates were prepared, and tyll the olde aged sat hym doune. His clothynge was as whyte as snowe, and the hearres of hys heade, lyke the pure woll. His trone was lyke the fyrye flamme, and his wheles as the burnynge fyre.

¹³ I sawe in a vision by nyght, and beholde, there came one in the cloudes of heauen lyke the sonne of a man, whyche went vnto the olde aged, before whome they broughte hym. ¹⁴ Then gaue he hym power and dignitie regal, that al people trybes and tunges shoulde serue him. Hys power is an euerlastynge power, whych shal neuer be put doune, and his kingdome endureth vncorrupte.

²³ For as sone as thou begannest to make thy prayer, it was so diuised, and therfore am I come to shewe the. And why? For thou arte a man greatly beloued. Wherfore, pondre the matter well, that thou mayest learne, to vnderstande the vision.

⁵ I lift vp mine eyes, and loked: and beholde, a man clothed in linen, whose loynes were girded vp with fyne goulde of Araby: ⁶ his body was like the Chrisolite stone, his face (to loke vpon) was like lighteninge, his eyes as the flamme of fyre, his armes and fete were lyke fayre glysterynge metall, but the voyce of his wordes was like the voyce of a multitude.

¹² Then he sayd vnto me: feare not Daniel: for why sence the fyrst day that thou set thyne herte to vnderstande, and diddest chasten thy selfe before thy God: thy wordes haue bene hearde. And I had come vnto the, when thou begannest to speake

Then opened I my mouthe, & sayde vnto him, that stode before me: O my Lorde, my pointes are lowsed in the vision, and there is no more strength within me: ¹⁷ Howe may my Lordes seruaunt then talke with my Lorde? seynge there is no strength in me: so that I can not take my breth? ¹⁸ Vpon this there touched me agayne, one muche lyke a man, and comforted me, ¹⁹ saying: O thou man so well beloued feare not: be content, take a good herte vnto the, & be strong. So when he had spoken vnto me, I recouered and sayd: Speake on my Lorde, for thou haste refreshed me.

³ The wyse (suche as haue taught other) shall glyster, as the shynninge of heauen: and those that haue instructe the multitude vnto godlynesse, shall be as the starres, worlde without ende.

⁷ Nowe doth the Lorde God no maner of thynge, but he telleth hys secrete before vnto hys seruauntes the Prophetes.

² And thou Bethleem Ephrata, art lytle among the thousandes of Iuda, Out of the shall come vnto me, whyche shall be the gouernoure in Israell: whose out goinge hath bene from the begynnyge, and from euerlastynge.

³ The Lorde suffreth longe, he is of greate power, & so innocent that he leaueth no man fautlesse before hym. The Lorde goeth forth in tempest and stormy wether, the cloudes are the dust of his fete.

¹⁰ Moreouer, vpon the house of Dauid & vpon the cytesins of Ierusalem wil I poure oute the spirite of grace & prayer, so that they shal loke vpon me, whom they haue pearsed: & they shal bewepe him, as men mourne for their onely begotten sonne: yea & be sory for him, as men are sorye for their fyrst childe.

⁷ For the priestes lippes should be sure knowledge, that men may seke the lawe at his mouth: for he is a messaunger of the lorde of hostes.

¹³ And lead vs not into temptaciou. But delyuer vs from euyll. For thyne is the kingdome and the power, and the glorye for euer Amen.

⁶⁴ Iesus sayd to him thou hast sayed. Neuertheles I say vnto you, hereafter shall ye se the sonne of men sittynge on the ryght hand of power, and come in the cloudes of the skye.

⁶² And Iesus sayed: I am. And ye shall se the sonne of man sit on the ryght hande of power, and come in the cloudes of heauen.

⁵ And they wente into the sepulchre, and sawe a yonge man syttyng on the ryght syde, clothed in a long white garment, & they were abashed. ⁶ And he sayed vnto them, be not afrayed: ye seke Iesus of Nazareth whiche was crucifyed. He is rysen, he is not here. Beholde the place where they put hym.

¹⁰ And he sayed vnto you is it geuen to knowe the secretes of the kingdome of God: but to other in symylytudes, that when they se, they shoulde not vnderstande.

²⁸ But he sayde: Yea, happye are they that heare the worde of God, and kepe it.

²⁷ And then shall they se the sonne of man come in a cloude with power and great glory.

²⁸ But Iesus turned backe vnto them, and sayed: Doughters of Ierusalem, wepe not for me: but wepe for your selues and for your chyldren. ²⁹ For beholde the dayes wyll come, when men shall saye: Happye are the baren and the wombes that neuer bare, and the pappes that neuer gaue sucke. ³⁰ Then shall they beginne to say to the mountaynes fal on vs: to the hilles, couer vs.

³⁷ And thei were abashed and afraied, supposynge that they had sene a spirite. ³⁸ And he sayde vnto them: Why are ye troubled, and why do thoughtes aryse in your hertes? ³⁹ Beholde my handes and & my fete, that it is euen my selfe. Handle me & se: for spyrytes haue not flesh and bones as ye se me haue.

¹ In the begynnynge was the worde, and the word was with God, & the worde was God.

³² And Iohn bare recorde saiynge: I saw the sprete descende from heauen, lyke vnto a doue, and abide vpon him,

¹¹ Verely, verely, I say vnto the we speake that we know and testify that we haue sene, & ye receiue not our witnes.

³² and what he hath sene and hearde: that he testifyeth: but no man receiueth his testimony.

²³ because that all men should honoure the sonne, euen as they honoured the father. He that honoureth not the sonne: the same honoureth not the father, which hath sent him.

¹⁴ Iesus aunswered and sayed vnto them: though I beare recorde of my selfe, yet my recorde is true: for I know whence I came, and whether I go. But ye can not tel, whence I came, and whither I go. ¹⁵ Ye iudge after the flesh. I iudge no man. ¹⁶ Thoughe I iudge, yet is my iudgement true. For I am not alone: but I and the father that sent me.

²⁶ I haue manye thynges to saye, and to iudge of you: but he that sent me is true. And I speake in the worlde, those thinges which I haue hearde of hym.

¹⁷ The people that was with hym, when he called Lazarus out of hys graue, and raysed hym from death, bare recorde.

⁴⁹ For I haue not spoken of my selfe: but the father which sent me, he gaue me a commaundement what I shoulde say, & what I should speake.

¹ Before the feast of Easter when Iesus knew that hys houre was come, that he shulde depart oute of thys worlde vnto the father. When he loued his which were in the worlde, vnto the ende he loued them.

⁸ Peter sayed vnto him: thou shalt not washe my fete whyle the worlde standeth. Iesus aunswered hym: yf I washe the not, thou shalte haue no parte with me. ⁹ Simon Peter sayed vnto him: Lord not my fete onelye: but also my handes and my heade. ¹⁰ Iesus sayed vnto hym: he that is washed, neadeth not saue to washe hys fete, and is cleane euery whyt. And ye are cleane: but not al.

²³ There was one of hys disciples which leaned on Iesus bosome whome Iesus loued.

³⁴ A newe commaundement geue I vnto you, that ye loue together, as I haue loued you, that euen so ye loue one another.

¹⁹ Yet a lytel whyle and the worlde seeth me no more: but ye shal se me. For I lyue, and ye shall lyue.

⁹ As the father hath loued me, euen so haue I loued you. Continue in my loue.

¹⁵ Henceforth call I you not seruauntes: for the seruaunt knoweth not what hys lorde doth. But you haue I called frendes, for all thynges that I haue heard of my father, I haue opened vnto you.

³³ These wordes haue I spoken vnto you, that in me you myght haue peace. For in the worlde shall you haue tribulacyon: but be of good cheare. I haue ouercome the worlde.

⁸ For I haue geuen vnto them the wordes whiche thou gauest me, and they haue receyued them and knowe surely that I came out from the, and do beleue that thou dyddest sende me.

³⁷ Pilate sayed to him: Arte thou a kynge then? Iesus aunswered: Thou sayest that I am a kynge. For thys cause was I borne, and for thys cause came I into the worlde, that I shoulde beare wytnes vnto the trueth. And al that are of the trueth heare my voyce.

³⁴ but one of the souldyers with a speare thruste hym into the syde and forth with came there out bloude and water. ³⁵ And he that sawe it, bare recorde, and hys recorde is true. And he knoweth that he sayth true, that ye myghte beleue also.

³⁷ And agayne another scripture sayeth: They shall loke on hym whome they pearled.

¹⁹ The same day at night, which was the morowe after the saboth day, when the dores wer shut, wher the disciples were assembled together for fear of the Iewes, came Iesus and stode in the myddes, and saide to them: peace be wyth you.

²⁶ And after .viij. dayes agayne, hys dyscyples were wythin, and Thomas wyth them. Then came Iesus when the dores were shut, and stode in the middes and sayd: peace be wyth you.

²⁰ Peter tourned aboute, and sawe that disciple whom Iesus loued folowinge which also leaned on his breste at supper and saied: Lord which is he that shal betraye the?

²⁴ The same dyscyple is he which testifyeth of these thinges, and wrote these thinges. And we know that his testimonie is true.

⁹ And when he had spoken these thynges whyle they beheld, he was taken vp, and a cloud receiued him vp out of their sighte, ¹⁰ And while they loked stedfastlye vp to heauen as he went, beholde two men stode by them in whyt apparell, ¹¹ whyche also sayde: ye men of Galile, why stande ye gasynge vp into heauen? This same Iesus which is taken from you into heauen, shal so come, euen as ye haue sene hym go into heauen.

²⁰ For we can not. But speake that whiche we haue sene and heard.

¹⁰ Then wexed he an houngred, and woulde haue eaten. But whyle they made ready, he fell into a traunce, ¹¹ and sawe heauen opened, and a certaine vessel come doune vnto hym as it had bene a greate sheete knyte at the .iiij. corners, and was let doune to the earth, ¹² wherin were all maner of .iiij. foted beastes of the earth, and vermen and wormes, and foules of the ayer. ¹³ And ther came a voyce to hym: ryse Peter kyll and eate. ¹⁴ But Peter sayed: God forbydde Lorde, for I haue neuer eaten anye thynge that is comen or vncleane. ¹⁵ And the voyce spake vnto hym agayne the seconde tyme: what God hath clensed, that make thou not commen. ¹⁶ This was done thrise, and the vessell was receyued vp againe into heauen. ¹⁷ While Peter mused in himself: what this vision, whiche he had sene, meant: beholde, the men whiche were sente from Cornelius had made inquiraunce for Simons house, & stode before the dore. ¹⁸ And called oute one and axed, whither Simon, whiche was also called Peter were lodged there. ¹⁹ While Peter thoughte on thys vision, the spyryte sayed vnto hym: Beholde men seke the, ²⁰ aryse therfore, get the doune, and go with them, and doubt not, for I haue sent them, ²¹ Peter went doune to the men, whiche were sent vnto hym from Cornelius, and saide. Beholde, I am he whom ye seke, what is the cause, wherfore ye are come? ²² And they sayde vnto him: Cornelius the captaine, a iuste man, and one that feareth God, and of good reporte amonge al the people of the Iewes, was warned by an holye aungel to sende for the into hys house, and to heare wordes of the. ²³ Then called he them in, and lodged them. And on the morowe Peter wente awaye wyth them, and certaine brethren from Ioppa accompanyed him. ²⁴ And the thyrd daye entred they into Cesaria. And Cornelius wayted for them, and had called together his kinsmen, and speciall frendes. ²⁵ And as it chaunsed Peter to come in, Cornelius met him, and fel doune at his fete, and worshipped him. ²⁶ But Peter toke him vp saiynge: stand vp: for euen I me selfe am a man. ²⁷ And as he talked wyth him he came in, and founde manye that were come together. ²⁸ And he sayde vnto them: Ye knowe howe that it is an vnlawfull thynge for a man that is a Iewe, to companye or come vnto an aliaunte: but God hath shewed me that I should not cal any man commen, or vncleane: ²⁹ therfore came I vnto you wyth out saiynge naye, assone as I was sente for I axe therfore, for what intente haue ye sent for me? ³⁰ And Cornelius sayde: Thys daye nowe .iiij. dayes I fasted and at the nynthe houre I prayde in my house: and beholde, a man stode before me in brighte clothinge, ³¹ and sayd: Cornelius, thy prayer is hearde, and thine almes deades are had in remembraunce in the sight of God. ³² Send therfore to Ioppa, and call for Simon whiche is also called Peter. He is lodged in the house of one Simon a tanner by the sea syde, the which assone as he is come, shall speake vnto the. ³³ Then sent I for the immediatly, and thou hast wel done for to come. Nowe are we all here present before God, to heare al thinges that are commaunded vnto the of God.

²² and strengthed the disciples soules exhortynge them to continue in the faith, affyrmyng that we must thorowe muche tribulacion enter into the kingdome of God.

¹⁹ And he came to Ephesus and lefte them there: but he him self entred into the sinagoge, and reasoned with the Iewes. ²⁰ When they desyred him to tary longer tyme with them, he consented no ²¹ but bad them fare well saiynge. I must nedes at this feaste that cometh, be in Ierusalem: but I will returne agayne vnto you, yf God will. And he departed from Ephesus

²⁴ And a certayne Iewe named Apollos, borne at Alexandria, came to Ephesus, an eloquente man and mighty in the scriptures.

¹ It fortuned, whyle Appollo was at Corinthum, that Paule passed thorowe the vtter costes and came to Ephesus, & founde certayne disciples ² and sayed vnto them: haue ye receyued the holy ghoste sence ye beleued? And they sayd vnto hym: no we haue not heard whether there be anye holy Ghost or no. ³ And he sayed vnto them: wherewyth were ye then baptised? And they said wyth Iohns baptisme. ⁴ Then sayed Paule: Iohn verelye baptised with the baptisme of repentaunce, sayinge vnto the people that they should beleue on hym whyche shoulde come after hym: that is on Christe Iesus. ⁵ When they hearde that they were Baptised in the name of the Lorde Iesus, ⁶ and Paule layed hys handes vpon them, and the holy Ghoste came on them, and they spake wyth tonges and prophecied, ⁷ & all the men were about .xij. ⁸ And he went into the synagoge, & speake boldelye for the space of thre monethes, disputynge and geuynge them exhortacions of the kyngedome of God. ⁹ When diuers waxde hard herted & beleued not, but spake euyll of the waye, and that before the multitude: he departed from them, and seperated the disciples. And disputed dayly in the schole of one called Tyrannus. ¹⁰ And thys continued by the space of two yeares: so that all they whyche dwelt in Asia, hearde the worde of the Lorde Iesu, both Iewes & Grekes.

¹⁰ And thys continued by the space of two yeares: so that all they whyche dwelt in Asia, hearde the worde of the Lorde Iesu, both Iewes & Grekes. ¹¹ And God wrought no small miracles by the handes of Paule, ¹² so that from his bodye, were brought vnto the sycke, napkyns or partletes, and the diseases departed from them, and the euill spirites went out of them. ¹³ Then certayne of the vagabounde Iewes exorcistes toke vpon them to call ouer them whyche had euyl spirites, the name of the Lorde Iesus saiynge: We adiure you by Iesu whom Paul preacheth. ¹⁴ And there were seuen sonnes of one Sceua a Iew and chiefe of the priestes which did so. ¹⁵ And the euyl spirite answered and said: Iesus I know and Paull I know: but who are ye? ¹⁶ And that man in whom the euyll spyryte was ranne on them and ouercame them, and preuayled agaynste them, so that they fledde out of that house naked and wounded. ¹⁷ And this was knowen to al the Iewes and Grekes also, which dwelt at Ephesus, and feare came on them al, and they magnified the name of the Lord Iesus. ¹⁸ And many that beleued, came and confessed, and shewed their workes. ¹⁹ Manye of them, whiche vsed curious craftes, broughte their bokes and burned them before al men, and they counted the price of them, & founde it fyfty thousand syluerlinges. ²⁰ So myghtyly grew the word of God, and preuayled. ²¹ After these thynges were ended, Paul purposed in the spyryte, to passe ouer Macedonia and Achaia, and to go to Ierusalem, saiynge: After I haue ben there, I must also se Rome. ²² So sent he into Macedonia two of them that ministred vnto him Timotheus & Erastus: but he hym selfe remayned in Asia for a season. ²³ The same tyme there arose no lytell ado about that way. ²⁴ For a certain man named Demetrius, a siluersmith, whiche made siluer shrynes for Diana, was not a litel beneficial vnto the craftes men. ²⁵ Whiche he called together with the workemen of like occupacion, & sayde: Syrs: ye knowe that by thys crafte we haue vauntage. ²⁶ Moreouer ye se & heare that not alone at Ephesus, but almoste thorough out al Asia, this Paule hath persuaded and turned away muche people: saying that they be not Goddes, whiche are made wyth handes. ²⁷ So that not onelye thys our craft cometh into pacel to be set at nought: but also that the temple of the great Goddas Diana shoulde be despised, and her magnificence should be destroied, which al Asia, and the world worshyppeth. ²⁸ When they hearde these sayinges, they were full of wrath, and cryed oute sayinge: Great is Diana of the Ephesyans. ²⁹ And all the cytye was on a rore, and they rushed into the commune hal wyth one assent, & caughte Gayus and Aristarcus, men of Macedonia, Paules companyons. ³⁰ When Paul woulde haue entered in vnto the people, the dyscyples suffered hym not. ³¹ Certayne also of the chiefe of Asia, whiche were hys frendes, sent vnto him, desiringe hym that he woulde not prease into the commen hall. ³² Some cryed one thynge, and some another, and the congregacyon was all oute of quyete, and the more parte knewe not wherfore they were come together. ³³ Some of the company drewe forth Alexander, the Iewes thrusting hym forwardes. Alexander beckened with the hand, & would haue geuen the people an aunswere. ³⁴ When they knewe that he was a Iewe, there arose a shoute almost for the space of two houres, of all men cryinge, greate is Diana of the Ephesyans. ³⁵ When the towne clarke had ceased the people he saied: ye men of Ephesus, what man is it that knoweth not how that the cytye of the Ephesyans is a worshypper of the great God as Diana, and of the ymage, which came from heauen. ³⁶ Seyng then that no man sayth her agaynst, ye oughte to be contente, & to do nothyng rashlye, ³⁷ for ye haue brought hether these men, which are neither robbers of churches, nor yet despysers of your Godas. ³⁸ Wherfore yf Demetrius and the craftes men, whiche are wyth him haue any saiynge to any man, the law is open, and there are rulars let them accuse one another. ³⁹ Yf ye go aboute any other thynge, it may be determined in a lawful congregacion. ⁴⁰ For we are in ieoperdy to be accused of this dayes busines. For as much as there is no cause wherby we may geue a rekening of this concourse of people. ⁴¹ And when he had thus spoken he let the congregacyon departe.

⁷ And on the morowe after the saboth day the disciples came together for to breake bread and Paule preached vnto them (readye to departe on the morowe) and contynued the preachynge vnto midnyght.

¹⁷ Wherfore from Myleton he sent to Ephesus, and called the elders of the congregacyon.

²⁸ Take hede therfore vnto youre selues, and to all the flocke wherof the holy ghoste hath made you ouersears, to rule the congregacyon of God, which he hath purchased wt hys bloude.

¹⁵ for thou shalte be hys wytnes vnto all men of those thynges whiche thou haste sene and hearde.

¹³ euen at mydday (O king) I saw in the way alyght from heauen, aboue the bryghtnes of the sunne, shyne rounde aboute me, and them whyche iorneyed wyth me.

¹⁶ but ryse and stand vp on thy fete. For I haue appeared vnto the for this purpose, to make the a minister, and a wytnes both of those thinges, whiche thou hast sene, and of those thinges in the which I wil appeare

²³ that Christe shoulde suffer, and that he shoulde be the fyrste, that shoulde ryse from death, and shoulde shewe lyghte vnto the people, and to the gentyls.

⁷ To all you at Rome beloued of God, and sainctes by callynge Grace be wyth you and peace from God our father, and from our Lorde Iesus Christ.

⁷ that is to say, prayse, honoure and immortalytye, to them whyche continue in good doynge and seke eternall lyfe. ⁸ But vnto them that are rebellious and disobey the trueth, and folowe iniquitie, shall come indignacion and wrath,

³ Nether do we so only: but also we reioice in tribulacion. For we know that tribulation bryngeth pacience, ⁴ pacience bringeth experience, experience bringeth hope.

⁹ remembrynge that Christe ones raysed from death, dieth no more, death hath nomore power ouer hym.

¹⁷ Yf we be sonnes, we are also heyres, the heyres I meane of God, and heyres annexed with Christe yf so be that we suffer together, that we maye be glorified together.

²⁵ But and yf we hope for that we se not, then do we with pacience abyde for yt.

³⁷ Neuerthelesse in all these thynges we ouercome stronglye thorowe hys helpe that loued vs.

³⁶ For of hym, and thorowe hym, and for hym, are all thynges. To hym be glorye for euer. Amen

¹¹ Thys also we knowe, I meane the season, howe that it is tyme, that we should now awake oute of slepe. For nowe is oure saluacyon nearer, then when we beleued.

⁸ For none of vs lyueth his owne seruaunt: neyther doeth anye of vs dye hys owne seruaunte. Yf we lyue, we lyue to be at the Lordes wyll. And yf we dye, we dye at the Lordes wyll. Whether we lyue therfore or dye, we are the Lordes. ⁹ For Christe therfore dyed, and rose agayne, and reuyued that he myght be Lord both of dead & quicke.

⁶ that ye all agreynge together, maye with one mouthe prayse God the father of oure Lorde Iesus,

²⁵ To hym that is of power to stablysh you, accordynge to my Gospell and preachinge of Iesus Christe, in vtterynge of the mysterye whiche was kepte secrete sence the worlde began,

³ Grace be with you and peace from God oure father, and from the Lorde Iesus Christ.

⁶ euen as the testimony of Iesus Christ was confyrmed in you,

¹ And I brethren when I came to you, came not in gloriousnes of wordes, or of wysdome, shewynge vnto you the testimonye of God.

⁹ Me thinketh that God hath sente forth vs, which are Apostles for the lowest, of al as it were men appointed to death. For we are a gasyng stoke vnto the world, and to the aungels, and to men. ¹⁰ We are foles for Christes sake and ye are wise thorow Christe. We are weake, and ye are stronge. Ye are honorable, and we are despised. ¹¹ Euen vnto this daye we honger and thyrst, and are naked, and are boffetted wyth fystes, and haue no certayne dwellinge place, ¹² and labour workinge wyth oure handes. We are reuiled, & yet we blesse. We are persecuted and suffer it. ¹³ We are euyl spoken of and we pray. We are made as it were the filthines of the worlde, the ofscowring of all thynges, euen vnto this time.

¹¹ And suche were ye verelye, but ye are washed, ye are sanctifyed, ye are iustifyed by the name of the Lorde Iesus, and by the spyryte of our God.

⁴ There are diuersities of gyftes verelye, yet but one spirite. ⁵ And there are differences of administracions, & yet but one Lorde. ⁶ And there are diuerse maners of operations, and yet but one God, which worketh all thinges that are wrought, in all creatures. ⁷ The giftes of the spirite are geuen to euerie man to profite the congregation. ⁸ To one is geuen thorowe the spirite the vtteraunce of wysdome. To another is geuen the vtteraunce of knowledge by the same spirite. ⁹ To another is geuen fayth by the same spirite. To another the giftes of healinge, by the same spirite. ¹⁰ To another power to do miracles. To another prophecie. To another iudgement of spirites. To an other diuerse tounges. To another the interpretation of tounges. ¹¹ And these all worketh euen the selfe same spyryte, deuydynge to euerye man seuerall gyftes, euen as he wyll. ¹² For as the bodye is one, and hath manye membres, and all the membres of one bodye though they be many, yet are they but one bodye: euen so is Christ. ¹³ For in one spyryte are we al baptysed to make one body, whether we be Iewes or Gentiles, whether we be bounde or fre: and haue al drounke of one spirite.

²⁰ But now in Christ rysen from the dead, and is become the fyrste fruytes of them that slepte. ²¹ For by a man came death, and by a man came the resurceccion of the dead. ²² For as by Adam all dye: euen so by Christe, shall all be made aliue, ²³ and euery man in his owne order. The fyrste is Christe, then they that are Christes at his comminge.

³² That I haue fought wyth beastes at Ephesus, after the maner of men what auauntageth it me, yf the dead rise not againe? Let vs eate and drincke, to morowe we shall dye.

² Vpon some sonday let euerye one of you put a syde at home, and laye vp whatsoeuer he thinketh meate that there be no gatheringes when I come.

⁸ I wyll tary at Ephesus vntyl whitsontyde.

¹⁴ For the loue of Christ constrayneth vs, because we thus iudge, yf one be dead, for all that then are all dead, ¹⁵ and that he dyed for all, that they which lyue, shoulde not hence forth lyue vnto them selues, but vnto hym, whiche dyed for them, and rose agayne.

¹⁸ and wyll be a father vnto you, and ye shall be vnto me sonnes and doughters, sayth the Lorde almyghtye.

² I knowe a man in Christe aboue .xiiij. yeares agone (whether he were in the bodye I cannot tell, or whether he were oute of the bodye I cannot tell, God knoweth) whiche was taken vp into the third heauen. ³ And I knowe the same man (whether in the bodye, or oute of the bodye, I cannot tell, God knoweth) ⁴ howe that he was taken vp into paradyse, and hearde wordes not to be spoken, whiche no man can vtter.

⁴ And verely thoughe it came of weakenes that he was crucyfyed, yet liueth he thorowe the power of GOD. And we no doubte are weake in hym: but we shall lyue with hym by the myght of God among you.

¹² neyther receyued I it of man, neyther was I taughte it, but receyued it by the reuelacyon of Iesus Christ.

²⁰ I am crucyfyed with Christ. I lyue verelye: yet now not I, but Christe lyueth in me. For the lyfe which I now lyue in the, flesh I lyue by the faythe of the sonne of God whiche loued me, and gaue hym selfe for me.

¹ Paule an Apostle of Iesu Christe by the wyll of God. To the Saynctes whiche are at Ephesus, & to them whiche beleue on Iesus Christe.

²⁰ whiche he wrought in Christe, when he raysed hym from the dead, and set hym on hys ryght hande in heauenly thynges, ²¹ aboue all rule, power, and myghte, and domynyon, and aboue all names that are named, not in thys worlde onely, but also in the worlde to come, ²² and hath put all thynges, vnder hys fete, and hath made hym aboue all thynges the heade of the congregacyon,

⁴ But God whiche is ryche in mercye thorow his great loue wherewith he loued vs,

³ For by reuelation shewed he this misterie to me as I wrote aboue in fewe wordes,

² and walke in loue euen as Christe loued vs, and gaue hym selfe for vs, an offeringe, and a sacrifice of a swete sauoure to God.

²⁵ Husbandes loue youre wyues, euen as Christe loued the congregation, and gaue him selfe for it, ²⁶ to sanctifye it, and cleansed it in the fountayne of water thorowe the worde ²⁷ to make it vnto hym selfe a glorious congregation wythout spotte or wrinckle, or anye suche thinge: but that it shoulde be holy and wythout blame.

¹⁷ And take the helmet of saluacion and the swerd of the spyrite, which is the word of God.

⁷ as it becommeth me so to iudge of you al, because I haue you in my herte, and haue you also euerye one companions of grace wyth me, euen in my boundes as I defende and stablishe the Gospel.

⁷ Neuerthelesse he made hym selfe of no reputation, & toke on him the shap of a seruaunt, and became lyke vnto men, ⁸ and was founde in hys aparell as a man. He humbled hym selfe, and became obediente vnto the death euen the death of the crosse.

¹¹ and that al tounges should confesse that Iesus Christ is the Lorde vnto the prayse of God the father.

¹⁵ that ye maye be fauteles & pure, the sonnes of God wythout rebuke, in the middes of a croked and a peruerse nacyon, amonge whiche se that ye shine as lightes in the worlde, ¹⁶ holding fast the worde of life, vnto my reioysing in the daye of Christe, that I haue not runne in vayne, neyther haue laboured in vaine.

¹⁴ Notwithstandinge ye haue well done, that ye beare parte with me in my tribulation.

¹⁴ And I loked and beholde a whyte cloude, & vpon the cloude one setting like vnto the sonne of man, hauinge on his head a golden croune, & in his hand a sharpe sykle. ¹⁵ And another angel came out of the temple, criynge wyth a loude voyce to him that sate on the cloud. Thruste in thy sykle and reape for the time is come, to reape, for the corne of the earth is rype. ¹⁶ And he that sate on the cloude, thruste in hys sykle on the earth, and the earth was reaped.

⁶ & the .vij. angels came out of the temple, which had the .vij. plages, clothed in pure and bryght linnen, & hauing their breastes gyrded wt golden gyrdels.

¹⁴ For they are the spirites of deuils working miracles to go out vnto the kinges of the earth, & to the whole worlde to gather them to the batayle of the greate daye of God almighty.

³ And he caryed me awaye into the wildernes in the spirite. And I saw a woman sit vpon a rose colored beaste ful of names of blasphemye, which had .x. hornes.

¹⁴ These shal fyght wt the lamb, & the lamb shal ouercome them. For he is Lorde of Lordes, & kinge of kinges, & they that are on his syde, are called the chosen and faithful.

¹⁵ The marchauntes of these thinges, which were wexed riche shal stand a farre of from her, for feare of the punishement of her, weping & waylynge, ¹⁶ & saying: alas, alas that great city, that was clothed in raines, & purple, and scarlet, & decked wt gold, & precious stones, & pearles, ¹⁷ for at one hour so great riches is come to nought. And euery shyp gouerner, & al they that occupied shippes, & shipmen which worke in the sea, stode a farre of ¹⁸ & cried, when they saw the smoke of her burninge, sayinge: what citie is lyke vnto this great citie? ¹⁹ And they cast duste on their heades, & cried weping, & wailing, & said: Alas, alas the greate citye wherin were made riche al that had shippes in the sea, by the reason of her costlines, for at one houre is she made desolate. ²⁰ Reioice ouer her thou heauen, and ye holy Apostles, & prophetes: for God hath geuen your iudgemente on her.

Saluacion and glory and honoure, & power be ascribed to the Lorde oure God, ² for true and ryghteous are his iudgementes, for he hath iudged that great whore, whiche dyd corrupte the earth with her fornicacion, & hath auenged the bloude of his seruauntes of her hand. ³ And again they said: Alleluia. And smoke rose vp for euermore.

⁶ And I heard the voice of much people, euen as the voice of many waters & as the voice of strong thondringes, saying: Alleluia, for God omnipotent reigneth.

⁹ And he sayed vnto me, happye are they whyche are called vnto the Lambes supper. And he said vnto me, these are true sayinges of God. ¹⁰ And I fell at his feete, to worshippe him. And he sayed vnto me, se thou do it not. For I am thy felowe seruaunt, & one of thy brethren, & of them that haue the testimony of Iesus. Worshippe God. For the testimony of Iesus is the spirit of prophesye.

¹² His eyes were as a flame of fyre, and on hys head were manye crounes, and he had a name wrytten, that no man knewe but he hym self.

¹⁵ & out of hys mouthe went out a sharpe swearde, that with it he should smyte the heathen. And he shal rule them wyth a rod of Iron, & he trode the wine fat of the fiercenes & wrath of almightye God. ¹⁶ And hath on hys vesture & on hys thighe a name wrytten: king of kinges, & Lord of Lordes,

²¹ and the remnaunte were slayne with the swerd of him that sate vpon the horse, which swerd proceded out of his mouth & all the foules were fulfilled with their flesh.

¹ And I saw an angel come doune from heauen, hauing the keye of the bottomlesse pytte, & a greate cheyne in his hand. ² And he toke the dragon that olde serpent which is the deuyl and Satanas, & he bound him a thousand yeares:

⁶ Blessed & holy is he that hath part in the fyrst resurreccyon. For on suche shall the seconde death haue no power, for they shalbe the priestes of God and of christe, and shall raygne wyth hym a thousande yeare.

¹⁴ And death & hell were cast into the lake of fyre. Thys is that seconde death.

² And I Iohn saw that holye cyty new Ierusalem come doune from God out of heauen prepared as a bryd garnyshed for her husband

⁵ And he that sate vpon the seate, said: Behold I make al thinges new. And he sayd vnto me: wryte for these wordes are faythfull and true. ⁶ And he said vnto me: it is done, I am Alpha & Omega, the beginning & the ende. I will geue to hym that is a thyrst of the wel of the water of lyfe free.

¹⁰ And he caryed me away in the spirite to a great & hygh mountayne, & he shewed me the great citie, holy Ierusalem, descendyng out of heauen from God,

²² And there was no temple therein. For the Lord God almyghty & the lambe are the temple of it

⁴ And shall se his face, & hys name shall be in theyr foreheades.

⁶ And he said vnto me, these sayinges are faythfull, & true. And the Lord God of sainctes and prophetes sente hys angel to shew vnto hys seruauntes, the thynges whiche muste shortly be fulfylled.

¹⁰ And he sayd vnto me: seale not the sayinges of the prophesye of thys boke. For the tyme is at hand

¹² And beholde I come shortlye, & my rewarde wyth me, to geue euerye man accordynge as hys dedes shall be. ¹³ I am Alpha & Omega, the beginnynge and the ende: the fyrst & the laste.

¹⁶ I Iesus sent myne angell, to testifye vnto you these thinges in the congregacyons. I am the rote and the generacion of Dauid and the bryghte mornyng starre.

²⁰ He which testifyeth these thynges sayeth: be it, I come quickly, Amen. Euen so: come Lord Iesu.
