¹⁹ Thou spakest sometyme in visions vnto thy saynctes, and saydest: I haue layed helpe vpon one that is mighty, I haue exalted one chosen out of the people.

¹ And then the Lorde sayde vnto Samuel: How longe wilt thou mourne for Saul, seing I haue cast him away from raygning ouer Israel? fyll an horne with oyntment, and come: I wil sende the to Isay the Bethlehemite, for I haue spyed me a king amonge his sonnes.

¹⁸ Then answered one of hys seruauntes, and saide. Beholde, I haue sene a sonne of Isai the Bethlehemyte, that can playe vpon instrumentes, and is an actyue felowe and a man of warre and prudent and well made, and the Lorde is with hym,

⁸ Now therfore so saye vnto my seruaunt Dauid, thus sayth the Lord of Hostes I toke the out of a shepeherdes cote from folowyng shepe to be a ruler ouer my people Israel. ⁹ And I was wyth the in all that thou wentest to, & haue destroyed all thyne enemyes out of thy syght, and haue made the a great name, lyke vnto the name of the great men of the world. ¹⁰ And I wyl appoynte a place for my people Israel, and wyll plant it and they shall contynue in one place and shall moue no more, neyther shall wycked people trouble them anye more as they dyd at the begynnynge, ¹¹ & sence the tyme I commaunded Iudges to be ouer my people Israel, & I wyll geue the reste from all thyne enemyes. And the Lorde telleth the, that he wyl buylde the an housholde. ¹² And when thy dayes be fulfilled and thou layde to rest wyth thy fathers, then I wyll set vp thy sede after the, which shall proceade out of thy bodye, and will stablysh his kingdome. ¹³ And he shal buylde an house for my name, & I wyll stablyshe the seate of hys kyngdome for euer: ¹⁴ I wylbe hys father & he shalbe my sonne: in so muche that yf he synne, I wyl but rebuke hym wyth such a rodde as men be rebuked wyth, and wyth suche plages as the chyldren of men be plaged with. ¹⁵ But my mercye wyll I not take awaye from hym, as I toke it from Saule, whome I put doune before the. ¹⁶ And thyne house and thy kyngdome shall endure wythoute ende after the, and thy seate shalbe stablyshed for euer. ¹⁷ And when Nathan had tolde Dauid all these wordes & all thys vysyon,

³⁴ Howe be it I wyll take none of the kyngedome out of hys hand: but wyll make him cheaffe al his lyfe long, for Dauid my seruauntes sake, which I chose: because he kept my commaundementes and ordinaunces.

³ My teares are my meate daye and nighte whyle it is daylye sayed vnto me: where is now thy God?

³ I haue made a couenaunt wyth my chosen, I haue sworne vnto Dauid my seruant.

⁶ For vnto vs a chylde shalbe borne, and vnto vs a sonne shalbe geuen. Vpon his shoulder shall the kyngedome lye, and he shalbe called with hys owne name. The wonderous geuer of councel, the myghty God, the euerlastinge father, the prynce of peace,

⁶ Whiche beinge in the shap of God, and thought it not robbery to be equal wt God. ⁷ Neuerthelesse he made hym selfe of no reputation, & toke on him the shap of a seruaunt, and became lyke vnto men, ⁸ and was founde in hys aparell as a man. He humbled hym selfe, and became obediente vnto the death euen the death of the crosse. ⁹ Wherfore God hath exalted hym, and geuen hym a name aboue al names, ¹⁰ that in the name of Iesus should euerye knee bowe, both of thinges in heauen and thinges in earth, and thinges vnder the earth, ¹¹ and that al tounges should confesse that Iesus Christ is the Lorde vnto the prayse of God the father.

⁹ Neuertheles we yet se not all thinges subdued, but him that was made lesse then the Angelles, we se that it was Iesus, whiche is crowned with glory and honoure for the suffering of death, that he by the grace of God, should taste of death for al men. ¹⁰ For it became him, for whom are al thynges and by whom are al thinges, after that he had brought many sonnes vnto glory, that he should make the Lorde of their saluacyon perfect thorowe sufferinge. ¹¹ For he that sanctifieth, and they which are sanctified, are all of one: For whiche causes sake, he is not ashamed to cal them brethren ¹² sayinge: I wyll declare thy name vnto my brethren and in the middes of the congregacion wil I praise the. ¹³ And again: I wil put my truste in him.
