²⁹ Thus they prouoked him vnto anger with their owne inuencyons, and the plage was great among them.

⁹ And ther dyed in the plage .xxiiij. thousand.

¹⁶ They angred him with straunge Goddes, and with abhominations prouoked him, ¹⁷ They offered vnto felde deuils and not to God, & to Gods whych they knewe not, & to newe Gods that came newly vp which theyr fathers feared not. ¹⁸ Of the rocke that begate the, thou arte vnmyndfull & hast forgote God that made the. ¹⁹ And when the Lord sawe it, he was angry bicause of the prouokyng of hys sonnes and daughters. ²⁰ And he sayd: I wyl hyde my face frome them & wyll se what their ende shall be. For they are a frowarde generation & chyldren in whom is no faith. ²¹ They haue angred me wt that which is no God, & prouoked me wyth theyr vanities. And I agayne wyll anger them wyth them whiche are no people, and wyl prouoke them wyth a folysh nation.

⁸ Thou heardest them, O Lorde oure God thou forgauest them O God, and punyshedst their owne inueucions.

³⁹ Thus were they stayned with their owne workes, and went a whoring with their owne inuencyons.

²⁹ Lo thys onely haue I founde, that God made man iust and right, but they seke dyuerse soteltyes,

²¹ in as muche as when they knewe God, they glorifyed him not as God, neither were thankful, but waxed full of vanities in theyr Imaginations, and their folishe hertes were blinded. ²² When they counted them selues wyse, they became foles, ²³ and tourned the glorye of the immortall God, vnto the the similitude of the Image of mortall man, and of byrdes, and foure foted beastes, and of serpentes. ²⁴ Wherfore God lykewyse gaue them vp vnto their hertes lustes vnto vncleanes, to defyle theyr owne bodies betwene them selues:

⁸ Neyther let vs committe fornicacion as some of them committed fornycacyon, and were destroied in one day .xxiij. thousand.
