¹⁷ Reioyce not thou at the fall of thyne enemye, and let not thyne herte be glad when he stombleth.

²⁵ And when theyr hertes were merye, they sayd: sende for Samson, and let hym playe for vs. And they sette Samson out of the prisonhouse, and he plaied before them, and they set him betwene the pillers.

⁵ And when Kynge Dauid came to Baharim: beholde, thence came out a man of the kinrede of the house of Saul named Semei, the sonne of Gera, and he came out cursyng. ⁶ And therto he cast stones at Dauid and at all the seruauntes of Kynge Dauid, all the people & al the men of warre goyng part on his right hand, and part on hys lefte. ⁷ And thus sayde this Semei as he cursed: come forthe, come forthe thou bloudesheder and thou vnthriftye man. ⁸ The lord hath brought vpon the all the bloude of the house of Saul, in whose stede thou hast raygned, and he hathe delyuered the kyngedome into the hand of Absalom thy sonne. And thou art wrapped aboute wt thyne owne myscheue, because thou arte a bloudesheder. ⁹ Then sayde Abisai the sonne of Zaruiah vnto the kynge: why dothe this deade dogge curse my Lorde the Kyng? let me go and take of the head of hym. ¹⁰ And the King sayde: what haue I to do with you ye sonnes of Zaruiah? let him curse: for the Lorde hath bydden him curse Dauid. And who dare presume to saye wherfore dothe he so? ¹¹ And Dauid sayde to Abisai, and to all his seruauntes: beholde, my sonne whyche came out of mine owne bowelles seketh my life. How muche more then may thys sonne of Iemini do it? Suffre hym therfore to curse, for the Lorde hath bidden hym: ¹² haplye the Lorde wyl loke on my wretchednesse, and do me good for hys cursynge thys daye. ¹³ And thus as Dauid and hys men went by the waye, Semei went a longe on the hylles syde ouer agaynste hym, and cursed as he went, and threwe stones at him, and cast dust. ¹⁴ And the Kynge and all that were wyth hym, came werye, and refresshed them selues there.

²⁹ Haue I euer reioysed at the hurte of myne enemy? Or whas I euer glad, that any harme happened vnto hym? Oh no.

¹⁵ But in myne aduersitie they reioyse, & gather them together. Yea, the very lame come together agaynste me vnwares, makynge mowes at me, and ceasse not.

¹⁹ O let them not triumphe ouer me, that are myne enemyes for naught: O let them not winke with their eyes, that hate me without a cause.

¹⁰ Whyle my bones are broken, whyle mine enemyes cast me in the teeth, daylye saiynge vnto me: where is now thy God?

⁵ Who so laugheth the pore to scorne blasphemeth hys maker: & he that is glad of another mans hurt, shall not be vnpunished.

¹² Thou shalt nomore se the daye of thy brother, thou shalt nomore beholde the tyme of hys captiuite: thou shalt nomore reioyse ouer the chyldren of Iuda, in the daye of their destruccyon, thou shalt tryumphe nomore in the tyme of their trouble.

⁶ reioiceth not in iniquitie: but reioiseth in the trueth, ⁷ suffreth all thinge, beleueth all thinges, hopeth al thinges, endureth in all thinges.
