³¹ Then sayd Iesus vnto them: all ye shall be offended by me thys nyght. For it is written. I wyll smyte the shepehearde, and the shepe of the flocke shall be scattered abroade.

¹⁵ Myne owne brethren passeouer by me as the water broke, that hastelye runneth thorow the valleyes. ¹⁶ But they that feare the hore frost, the snowe shall fall vpon them. ¹⁷ When theyr time commeth, they shalbe destroyed and perishe: and when they be set on fyre, they shalbe remoued oute of theyr place, ¹⁸ for the pathes that they go in, are croked: they haste after vayne thinges, and shal perysh. ¹⁹ Consydre the pathes of Theman, & the wayes of Saba, wherin they haue put their trust. ²⁰ Confounded are they, that put eny confydence in them: For when they came to opteyne the thinges that they loked for, they were brought to confusion. ²¹ Euen so are ye also come vnto me: but now that ye se my misery, ye are afrayed. ²² Dyd I desyre you, to come hether? Or, to geue me eny of youre substaunce?

¹³ He hath put my brethren farre awaye from me, and suche as were of myne acquauntaunce, are become straungers vnto me. ¹⁴ Mine owne kynsfolkes haue forsaken me, and my frendes haue put me out of remembraunce. ¹⁵ The seruauntes & maydens of myne owne house take me for a straunger, and I am be come as an aleaunt in theyr syght. ¹⁶ When I call vpon my seruaunt, he geueth me no answere: no though I praye him wyth my mouth.

¹¹ My louers and frendes stande lokynge vpon my trouble, and my kynsmen are gone afarre of.

²⁰ The rebuke breaketh my herte, and maketh me heuy: I loke for some to haue pytye vpon me, but ther is no man: and for some to comforte me, but I fynde none.

¹⁸ My louers, and frendes hast thou put awaye fro me, and turned awaye myne acquayntaunce.

¹⁰ Yet hath it pleased the Lorde to smyte him with infirmite, that when he had made hys soule an offerynge for synne, he myght se longe lasting sede. And this deuyce of the Lord shall prospere in hys hande.

¹⁹ Koph. I called for my louers (but they begyled me) for my Prestes and councelers, but they peryshed: euen whyle they sought for meate, to saue their lyues.

⁵ Thus are they scatred here and there wythoute a shepherde: yea al the beastes of the felde deuoure them, and they go astraye. ⁶ My shepe go wandrynge vpon all mountaynes, and vpon euerye hye hyl. Yea they be scatred abroade in al feldes, and there is no man, that careth for them, or seketh after them.

⁷ Arise, O thou swerd, vpon my shepeherd, & vpon the prince of my people sayeth the lorde of hostes. Smite the sheperd, & the shepe shal be scatred abroade, & so wil I turne mine hand to the litle ones.

⁶ And happye is he that is not offended by me.

⁹ Then shall they put you to trouble, and shall kyll you: and ye shalbe hated of all nacions for my names sake. ¹⁰ And then shall manye be offended, and shal betray one another, and shall hate one the other.

⁵⁶ Al this was done that the scriptures of the Prophetes myght be fulfylled.

²⁷ And Iesus sayde vnto them. All ye shalbe offended through me this night. For it is written: I wyll smyte the shepeherde, and the shepe shalbe scattered. ²⁸ But after that I am rysen agayne: I wyll go into Galile before you.

³¹ And the Lorde sayde: Simon Simon beholde, Sathan hath desyred you, to syfte you, as it were wheate, ³² but I haue prayed for the, that thy faith fayle not. And when thou arte conuerted, strengthe thy brethren.

³² Beholde, the houre draweth nye, and is all readye come that ye shalbe scatered euerye man hys wayes, and shall leaue me alone. And yet am I not alone. For the father is with me.
