³⁰ And the scribes and pharyseis murmured againste his disciples saiynge: Why eate ye, and drinke ye with publicans and sinners?

⁵ Yf thou comest nye them, they saye, touch me not, for I am holyer then thou. All these men when I am angry, shalbe turned to smoke and fyre, that shall burne for euer.

²⁸ What saye ye to thys? A certayne man had two sonnes, and came to the elder and sayde: sonne go and worke to daye in my vyneyarde. ²⁹ He answered and sayde, I wyll not: but after warde repented and wente. ³⁰ Then came he to the seconde, and sayed lykewyse. And he answered and sayed: I wyll syr: yet wente not. ³¹ Whether of them twayne dyd the wyll of the father? And they sayde vnto hym: the fyrst. Iesus sayde vnto them: verelye I saye vnto you, that the Publycans and the harlotes shall come into the kyngedome of God before you. ³² For Iohn came vnto you in the waye of ryghtuousnes, and ye beleued hym not. But the Publicans and the harlotes beleued hym. And yet ye (thoughe ye sawe it) were not yet moued wyth repentaunce, that ye myght afterwarde haue beleued hym.

³ For the Phariseis and all the Iewes, except thei wash their handes ofte, eate not obseruinge the tradicions of the elders.

¹⁷ And it happened on a certayne daye, that he taught, and there sate the phariseis and the doctours of lawe, which were come out of all the tounes of Galyle, Iurye, and Hierusalem. And the power of the Lorde was to heale them.

²¹ And the scribes and pharyseis began to thinke saiynge: What felowe is this which speaketh blasphemy? who can forgeue synnes but God onlye?

²⁹ And all the people that hearde and the publicans iustifyed God, and were baptysed with the baptime of Ihon. ³⁰ But the Phariseis and scribes despised the counsel of God againste them selues, and were not baptysed of him.

³⁴ The sonne of man is come and eateth and drincked, and ye saye: beholde a man which is a glotten, and a drincker of wine, a frende of publicans and synners.

³⁹ When the pharysey which bade him, sawe that he speake within him selfe saiyng. If this man were a Prophete, he woulde surely haue knowen who and what maner woman this is which toucheth him, for she is a synner.

¹ Then resorted vnto hym all the Publycans and synners for to heare hym. ² And the Pharises & Scribes murmured saiyng. He receyued to hys company synners, and eateth with them.

¹¹ The Pharyse stode and prayed thus with hym selfe: God I thanke the, that I am not as other men are, extorsioners, vniust, aduouterers, or as this publican,

⁷ And when they sawe that, they al groundged saiyng: He is gone into tarye with a man that is a synner.

⁹ And there arose a great crye, and the Scrybes whiche were of the Phariseys parte arose and stroue, saiyng: we fynde none euyll in thys man. Thoughe a spirite or an angell haue appeared to hym, let vs not stryue agaynst God.
