⁴⁹ And beholde, I wyl sende the promes of my father vpon you. But tary ye in the citye of Ierusalem, vntyll ye be endewed with power from an hye.

¹⁵ vnto the tyme that the spryte be poured vpon vs from aboue. Then shall the wyldernesse be a fruteful felde and the plenteous felde shalbe rekened for a wodde.

³ For I shall pouer water vpon the drye grounde and ryuers vpon the thurstye. I shall poure my sprete vpon thy sede, and myne encerase vpon thy stocke. ⁴ They shall growe together, lyke as the grasse, and as the Willies by the waters syde.

²⁰ But vnto Sion there shall come a redemer, and vnto them is Iacob that turne from wyckednesse, sayeth the Lorde. ²¹ I wyll make this couenaunt with them (sayeth the Lorde): My spirite that is come vpon the, and the wordes whyche I haue put in thy mouthe, shall neuer go out of thy mouthe, nor oute of the mouth of thy childers chyldren, from this tyme forth for euermore.

²⁸ After this, wil I poure out my sprete vpon all fleshe: and your sonnes & your doughters shall prophecye: youre olde men shall dreame dreames, & youre yong men shal se visyons ²⁹ yea in those dayes I wyll poure out my sprite vpon seruauntes and maydens. ³⁰ I wyll shewe wonders in heauen aboue, and tokens in the earth beneth: bloude and fyre, and the vapour of smoke. ³¹ The sunne shalbe turned into darcknes, & the mone into bloude: before the greate & notable daye of the Lorde come. ³² And the time shal come, that whosoeuer calleth on the name of the Lorde, shalbe saued. For vpon the mount Syon & at Ierusalem, there shalbe a saluacion, lyke as the Lorde hath promysed, yea & among the other remnaunte, whome the Lorde shall call.

¹⁶ & I will praye the father, and he shal geue you another conforter, that he may byde with you euer ¹⁷ which is the spirite of truth whom the worlde can not receyue, because the world seeth hym not, neyther knoweth hym. But ye knowe hym. For he dwelleth with you, & shal be in you.

²⁶ But that comforter whiche is the holy ghost (whome my father wil send in my name) he shal teache you all thinges, & brynge all thynges to youre remembraunce whatsoeuer I haue tolde you.

²⁶ But when the comforter is come, whome I will sende vnto you from the father, which is the spirite of truth, which proceadeth of the father, he shall testify of me.

⁷ Neuerthelesse I tell you the trueth, it is expediente for you that I go awaye. For yf I go not awaye, that comforter wil not come vnto you. But yf I departe, I wil sende hym vnto you. ⁸ And when he is come, he wil rebuke the world of synne, and of ryghteousnesse, and of iudgement ⁹ Of synne, because they beleue not on me: ¹⁰ of ryghteousnesse, because I go to my father, and then ye shall not se me, ¹¹ and of iudgement, because the chiefe ruler of this worlde is iudged already. ¹² I haue yet many thinges to say vnto you, but ye cannot beare them awaye now. ¹³ Howe be it when he is come (I meane the spirite of truth) he wyll lead you into all truth. He shall not speake of hym self, but whatsoeuer he shal heare, that shall he speake, and he wyll shewe you thynges to come. ¹⁴ He shall glorifye me, for he shall receyue of myne, and shall shewe vnto you. ¹⁵ Al thynges that the father hath, are myne. Therfore sayd I vnto you, that he shal take of myne, and shewe vnto you. ¹⁶ After a whyle ye shall not se me: & agayne after a whyle ye shall se me: for I go to the father.

⁴ & gathered them together, and commaunded them, that they shoulde not departe from Hierusalem: but to wayt for the promys of the father, wherof ye haue hearde of me.

⁸ but ye shall receiue power of the holy ghost, whiche shall come on you. And ye shall be witnesses vnto me in Hierusalem, and in al Iewrye, and in Samary and euen vnto the worldes ende.

¹ When the fyfty daye was come, they were all with one accorde together in one place. ² And sodainly there came a sounde from heauen, as it had bene the comynge of a myghty wynd, and it filled al the housse where they sate. ³ And there appeared vnto them clouen tounges, lyke as they had bene fyre, and it sate vpon eche of them, ⁴ and they were all filled with the holye ghoste, and began to speake wyth other tounges, euen as the spyryte gaue them vtteraunce. ⁵ And there were dwelling at Hierusalem Iewes, deuout men, whyche were of all nations vnder heauen. ⁶ When thys was noysed aboute, the multitude came together & were astonied, because that euery man hearde them speake hys owne toung. ⁷ They wondred all & merueyled sayinge among them selues: Behold are not al these which speake of Galile? ⁸ And how heare we euery man his own tounge wherin we were borne? ⁹ Parthians, Medes, and Elamites, and the inhabiters of Mesopotamia, of Iewry, and of Cappadocia, and of Ponthus and Asia, ¹⁰ Phrysia, Pamphilia, and of Egypte, and of the parties of Libia, which is besyde Syren, and straungers of Rome, Iewes, and conuertes, ¹¹ Grekes, and Arabians: we haue heard them speake: wyth our owne tounges the great workes of God. ¹² They were all amased, and woundered saiynge one to another: what meaneth thys? ¹³ Other mocked them sayinge: they are full of newe wyne. ¹⁴ But Peter stepped forth wyth the eleuen, and lyfte vp his voyce, and sayed vnto them: Ye men of Iewrye, and all ye that inhabite Hierusalem: be thys knowen vnto you, and wyth youre eares heare my wordes. ¹⁵ These art not drounke, as ye suppose, for it is yet but the thyrde houre of the day. ¹⁶ But thys is that which was spoken by the Prophet Iohel: ¹⁷ It shal be in the laste daies saith God, of my spirite: I wil pour out vpon all flesh.
