⁴⁵ Then opened he their wittes, that they myght vnderstande the scriptures,

¹¹ And the Lord sayed vnto hym: who hath made mans mouthe, or who hath made the dombe or the deaffe, the seynge or the blind? haue not I the Lord?

¹⁶ he roundeth them in the eares, he infourmeth them, and sheweth them playnelye,

¹⁸ Open thou myne eyes, and so shall I spy out wonderous thynges in thy lawe.

¹⁰ For the Lorde shall geue you an harde slepynge spryte, and holde doune youre eyes: namelye youre Prophetes and heades which shuld se, them shall he couer. ¹¹ And all vysyons shalbe vnto you, as the wordes that stande in a sealed lettre, when one offereth it to a man that is learned, and sayeth: reade vs thys lettre. Then he aunswereth: I cannot read it, for it is shut. ¹² But yf it be geuen to one that is not learned, or sayd vnto him: reade this lettre: Then saith he: I can not reade.

¹⁸ Then shall deaf men vnderstande the wordes of the boke, and the eyes of the blynd shall se wythoute anye cloude or darckenes. ¹⁹ The oppressed shall holde a merye feaste in the Lorde, and the poore people shall reioyse in the holye one of Israell.

³² And they sayde betwene them selues: did not our hertes burne within vs whyle he talked with vs by the waye, and as he opened to vs the scryptures?

¹⁴ And a certayne woman named Lydia a seller of purple of the citie of Thiatyra, which worshypped God, gaue vs audience. Whose hart the Lorde opened, that she attended vnto the thynges whiche Paul spake.

¹⁸ to open theyr eyes, that they myght turne from darckenes to lyght, and from the power of Satan vnto God: that they maye receiue forgeuenes of synnes, and inheritaunce amonge them whyche are sanctyfyed by fayth in me.

¹⁴ But theyr myndes were blynded. For vntil thys daye remayneth the same couerynge vntaken awaye in the olde testament when they reade it, whiche in Christe is put awaye. ¹⁵ But euen vnto thys daye when Moyses is reade, the vayle hangeth before theyr hertes. ¹⁶ Neuerthelesse when they turne to the Lorde, the vayle shalbe taken awaye. ¹⁷ The Lorde no doubte is a spiryte. And where the spiryte of the Lorde is, there is libertye. ¹⁸ But we all beholde the glorye of the Lorde with hys face open, and chaunged vnto the same similitude, from glorye to glory, euen of the spirite of the Lorde.

⁴ in whome the God of thys worlde hath blynded the myndes of them which beleue not, leste the lyght of the gloryous gospell of Christe which is the ymage of God shoulde shyne vnto them. ⁵ For we preache not oure selues, but Christ Iesus to be the Lorde, and oure selues youre seuauntes for Iesus sake. ⁶ For it is God that commaunded the lighte to shyne out of darknes, whiche hath shyned in oure hertes, for to geue the lyghte of the knoweledge of the glorye of God, in the face of Iesus Christe.

¹⁴ Wherfore he sayth: awake thou that slepest, and stand vp from death, and Christ shall geue the lyght.

²⁰ We know, that the sonne of God is come, & hath geuen vs a minde to know him which is true, & we are in him, that is true thorowe his sonne Iesus Christ. This same is verye God, and eternal lyfe.

⁷ And wryte vnto the tydinges bringer of the congregacyon of Philadelphia, this sayeth he that is holy and true, which hath the keye of Dauid, which openeth and no man shutteth, and shutteth & no man openeth.
