4 Daleth. The streates of Sion mourne, because no man commeth more to the solempne feastes. All her gates are desolate, her prestes make lamentacyon, her maydens are carefulll, and she her selfe is in greate heuynesse.

Isaiah 24:4-6

4 The earth shalbe heauy & decay. The face of the earth shal perishe & fal awaye, the proude people of the worlde shal come to naught. 5 For the earth is corrupt of her indwellers. For why? they haue offended the law chaunged the ordynaunces, & made the euerlasting testament of none effecte. 6 And therfore shall the course deuoure the earth: for they that dwel theron haue sinned, wherfore they shal be brent also, and those that remaine shalbe very few.

Isaiah 32:9-14

9 Vp (ye ryche and ydell cytyes) harken vnto my voyce. Ye carelesse cytyes, marke my wordes. 10 After yeares & dayes shal ye be broughte in feare, O ye carelesse cytyes. The towers and bulworkes shalbe become deunes for euermore, the pleasure of Mules shalbe turned to pasture for shepe:

Jeremiah 9:11

11 I wyll make Ierusalem also an heape of stones, and a denne of venymous wormes. And I wyll make the cytyes of Iuda so wast, that no man shall dwell therein.

Jeremiah 10:22

22 Beholde, the noyse is harde at hande, and greate sedycyon out of the north: to make the cytyes of Iuda a wyldernesse, and a dwellynge place for Dragons.

Jeremiah 14:2

2 Iuda shal mourne, men shall not go moch more thorow hys gates: the lande shalbe no more had in reputacyon, and the crie of Ierusalem shall breake out.

Jeremiah 33:10-12

Lamentations 1:11-12

11 Caph. All her people seke their bred wyth heuynes, & loke what precyous thynge euery man hath, that geueth he for meate, to saue his lyfe. Consydre, O Lorde, and se, how vyle I am become. 12 Lamed. O ye all that go fore by, beholde and se, yf there be eny sorow like vnto myne, wherwith the Lord hath troubled me, in the daye of his fearefull wrath.

Lamentations 1:18-20

18 Zade. The Lorde is ryghtuous, for I haue prouoked his contenaunce vnto anger. O take hede all ye people, and consydre my heuynes: My maydens and my younge men are led awaye into captyuytye. 19 Koph. I called for my louers (but they begyled me) for my Prestes and councelers, but they peryshed: euen whyle they sought for meate, to saue their lyues. 20 Res. Consydre (O Lorde) how I am troubled, my wombe is dysquyeted, my herte turneth about in me, and I am full of heuynes. The swearde hurteth me without, and within I am lyke vnto death.

Lamentations 2:6-7

6 Vau. Her tabernacle (which was lyke a garden of pleasure) hath he destroyed: her hye solempne feastes hath he put downe. The Lorde hath brought it so to passe, that the hye solempne feastes & Sabbathes in Sion, are cleane forgotten. In his heuy displeasure hath he made the kynge and prestes to be despysed. 7 Zain. The Lorde hath forsaken hys owne aulter, and is wroth with his owne Sanctuary, and hath geuen the walles of their towres in to the handes of the enemye. Their enemyes made a noyse in the house of the Lorde, as it had bene in a solempne feast daye.

Lamentations 2:9-11

9 Teth. Her portes are casten downe to the grounde, her barres are broken and smytten in sonder: her kynge & prynces are caried awaye to the Gentyles. They haue nether lawe ner Prophetes, ner yet eny visyon from the Lorde. 10 Iod. The Senatours of the daughter Syon syt vpon the grounde in sylence: they haue strowed asshes vpon their heades, and gyrded them selues with sack cloth. The maydens of Ierusalem hange downe their heades to the grounde. 11 Caph. Myne eyes begynne to fayle me thorowe wepyng, my body is disquieted, my leuer is poured vpon the earth, for the greate hurte of my people, seynge the chyldren and babes dyd swowne in the stretes of the cytie.

Lamentations 2:19-21

19 Koph. Stande vp and make thy prayer in the first watch of the nyght, poure oute thyne herte lyke water before the Lord: lyft vp thyne handes, for the lyues of thy yonge chyldren, that dye of honger in the stretes. 20 Res. Behold, O Lord, and consydre, why hast thou gathered me vp so cleane? Shall the wemen then eate their owne fruyte, euen chyldren of a spanne longe? Shall the prestes and prophetes be slayne thus in the Sanctuarye of the Lorde? 21 Sin. Yonge & olde lye behynde the stretes vpon the grounde, my maydens & yonge men are slayne wyth the swearde: whom thou in the daye of thy wrathfull indignacyon haste put to death: yee euen thou hast put them to death, and not spared them.

Lamentations 5:13

13 they haue taken yonge mens lyues from them, and the boyes are hanged vp vpon trees.

Joel 1:8-13

8 Make thy mone as a virgyne doth the gyrdes her selfe with sacke, because of her brydegrome, 9 For the meat and drinckofferyng shal be taken awaye from the house of the Lorde: and the priestes the Lordes mynysters shall mourne. 10 The felde shalbe wasted, the lande shalbe in a myserable case: for the corne shalbe destroyed, the swete wyne shall come to confusyon, and the oyle vtterlye desolate. 11 The husband men and the wyne gardeners shall loke pyteously & make lamentacyon, for the wheat wyne, and barley & because the haruest vpon the felde is so cleane destroyed. 12 The grape gatherers shall make greate mone, when the vyneyard & figgetrees be so vtterly wasted. Yea all the pomgarnettes, palmetrees, appeltrees & the other trees of the felde shall wyther awaye. Thus the mery cheare of the chyldren of men, shall come to confusyon. 13 Gyrde you, & make youre mone, O ye prestes: mourne ye mynysters of the aulter: go youre way in, and slepe in sackcloth, O ye offycers of my God: for the meate and drinckofferynge shall be taken awaye from the house of youre God.

Micah 3:12

12 Therfore shall Syon (for youre sakes) be plowed lyke a felde: Ierusalem shalbe come an heape of stones, and the hyll of the temple shalbe turned to an hye wodde.
