⁴ Iacob and Esau And I gaue vnto Esau mounte Seyr to possesse it. But Iacob and hys chyldren wente doune into Egypte.

²⁴ And when hir tyme was come to be deliuered: behold there were two twynes in hir wombe. ²⁵ And he that came out fyrst was redde & rough ouer al as it were an hyde: and they called hys name Esau. ²⁶ And afterward hys brother came out, & his hand holding Esau by the hele. Wherefore his name was called Iacob. And Isaac was .lx. yere old when she bare them:

³ Iacob sent messengers before him to Esau hys brother, vnto the land of Seir, and the fyeld of Edom

⁸ Thus dwelte Esau in the mounte Seir, which Esau is called Edom.

¹ Israel toke his iourney wt all the he had, & came vnto Berseba and offred offrynges vnto the God of hys father Isaac. ² And God sayd vnto Israel in a visyon by nyghte, & called vnto him: Iacob Iacob. And he answered: here am I. ³ And he sayde: I am the myghtie God of thy father, feare not to goo doune in to Egypte. For I wyl make of the a great people. ⁴ I wyll go doune wyth the in to Egypt, and I wyll also bryng the vp agayn, & Ioseph shal put his hand vpon thyne eyes. ⁵ And Iacob rose vp from Berseba. And the sonnes of Israel caryed Iacob their father, & their children & their wyues in the charettes which Pharao had sent to carie him. ⁶ And they toke their catel & the goodes which they had gotten in the land of Canaan, and came in to Egypte: both Iacob & al hys seed wyth hym, ⁷ hys sonnes and hys sonnes sonnes wt hym, hys doughters & hys sonnes doughters & all his seed brought he wt him into Egypte.

⁵ that ye prouoke them not, for I wyl not geue you of their lande, no not so moch as a fote breade: because I haue geuen mount Seir vnto Esau to possesse.

²³ Israell also came into Egipte, and Iacob was a straunger in the lande of Ham.
