And Manasses other sonnes had the lande of Galaad. ⁷ And the coastes of Manasses reached from Aser to Machmathah, that lyeth before Sychem, & went a longe on the righte hande, euen vnto the enhabiters of Enthaphuah, ⁸ and the lande of Thaphuah belonged to Manasses, which Thaphuah lay in the borders betwene Manasses, and the chyldren of Ephraym. ⁹ And the coastes descended vnto the riuer Canah, on whose southsyde Ephraim hath cytyes amonge the cyties of Manasses. For the coastes of Manasses were on the northsyde of the ryuer, and the endes of them was the sea: ¹⁰ so that the south pertayned to Ephraim, and the north to Manasses, and the sea is his border. And they mette together in Aser northwarde, and in Isacar Eastwarde. ¹¹ And Manasses had in Isacar and in Aser, Bethsean, and her tounes: and the enhabitoures of Dor, with the tounes pertaining to the same, and the enhabitoures of Endor, with the tounes of the same: and the enhabitoures of Thaanath with her tounes, and the enhabitoures of Magedo with the tounes of the same, euen thre countreys: ¹² yet the chyldren of Manasses coulde not ouercome those cytyes: But the Cananites began to dwel in the same lande. ¹³ Neuerthelesse assone as the chyldren of Israel were waxed strong, they put the Cananytes to tribute, but expelled them not. ¹⁴ And the children of Ioseph spake vnto Iosua, saying: why hast thou geuen vs but one lot, and one porcion to enheret, seynge we be muche people, and for as muche as the Lorde hath blessed vs so, ¹⁵ and Iosua aunswered them: yf ye be much people, then get you vp to the wood countreye, and prepare for youre selues there in the lande of the Pheresytes and of the Raphaites, yf mounte Ephraym be to narowe for you. ¹⁶ Then the chyldren of Ioseph sayde agayn: the hyll wyll not begoten of vs, for al the Cananites, that dwell in the lowe countreye haue charettes of yron, and so haue they that enhabite Bethsean, and the tounes of the same, and they also that dwel in the valeye of Iezreel. ¹⁷ And Iosua aunswered the house of Ioseph, Ephraim and Manasses sayinge: ye be muche people and haue greate power and shall not therfore haue one lotte. ¹⁸ But the hyll shalbe youres, for it is a woode countreye, and ye shall bryng it to fashion, and it shalbe youres euen vnto the endes of it, for ye shalbe able to cast out the Cananites for all their yron charettes, and for all they be so stronge.

⁷ And there fell a stryfe betwene the herdmen of Abrams cattell, and the herdmen of Lots cattell. Moreouer the Cananites & the Pheresytes dwelled at that tyme in the land.

I wil deliuer the inhabiters of the lande into thyne hande, & thou shalt dryue them out before the. ³² And thou shalte make none appoyntment with them nor with their goddes. ³³ Neither shall they dwel in thy lande, lest they make the sinne agaynste me: for if thou serue their goddes it will surely be thy decaye.

³³ And Moses gaue vnto the chyldren of Gad and of Ruben and vnto halfe the trybe of Manasse the sonne of Ioseph, the kyngdome of Sehon kynge of the Amorites, and the kyngdome of Og kynge of Bason, the lande that longed vnto the cyties therof in the costes of the countre rounde aboute. ³⁴ And the chyldren of Gad bylte Didon, Ataroth, Aroer, Atroth, ³⁵ Sophan, Iaeser, Iegabea, ³⁶ Bethnimra and Betharan fenced cytyes, and they buylt foldes for the shepe. ³⁷ And the chyldren of Ruben bylte Hesbon, Eleale, Kiriathaim, ³⁸ Nebo, Baal, Meon and turned theyr names, and Sibaina also: and gaue names vnto the cyties whych they buylt. ³⁹ And the chyldren of Machir the sonne of Manasse went to Galaad and toke it, and put oute the Amorites that were therin.

But that the chyldren of Israell maye abyde, euery man in the enheritaunce of the trybe of hys fathers. ⁸ And euery daughter that possesseth any enheritaunce amonge the trybes of the children of Israell, shalbe wyfe vnto one of the kynred of the trybe of her father, that the children of Israel may enioye euery man the enheritaunce of his father, ⁹ and that the enheritaunce go not from one trybe to another: but that the trybes of the chyldren of Israel, maye abyde euery man in his owne enherytaunce. ¹⁰ And as the Lorde commaunded Moses euen so dyd the daughters of Zelaphead: ¹¹ Mahela, Thirza, Hagla, Milcha and Noa, and were maryed vnto their fathers brothers sonnes,

¹⁷ But he shal know the sonne of the hated for his firstborne that he geue him dowble of al that he hath. For he is the fyrst of his strength, and to hym belongeth the ryght of the fyrstborne shyppe.

And the good wyll of him that dwelleth in the bush shal come vpon the head of Ioseph and vpon the toppe of the head of hym that was separated from among hys brethren, ¹⁷ his beutye is as fyrsteborne oxe and hys hornes as the hornes of an vnycorne. And wyth them he shal push the nations togyther, euen vnto the endes of the world. These are the many thousandes of Ephraim and the thousandes of Manasses.

⁴ whiche came oute, and all their hostes wyth them, a multitude of folke, euen as the sandes of the sea in numbre with horsses and charettes excedinge manye. ⁵ And all these Kynges met together, and came and pitched together vpon the water of Merom, for to fyghte wyth Israell. ⁶ And the Lorde sayde vnto Iosua, be not afrayd of them, for to morowe aboute thys tyme I wyl delyuer them al slayne, before al Israel, and thou shalt hough their horsses, & burne their charettes wyth fyre.

¹ And Iosua gathered all the trybes of Israel to Sichem, & called for the elders of Israel, and for theyr heades Iudges and offycers whiche presented them selues before God.

³² And the bones of Ioseph, whiche the chyldren of Israell brought oute of Egypte, they buryed in Sichem, in a parcell of ground which Iacob bought of the sonnes of Hemor the father of Sichem, for an hundreth peaces of syluer, which parcell became the enherytaunce of the chyldren of Ioseph.

¹⁹ And the Lorde was wyth Iuda that he conquered the mountaynes, but they coulde not dryue oute the enhabyters of the valeys, because they had charettes of yron.

³⁵ And so the Amorites went to and dwelled in mount Heres in Haylon and in Galabim. Neuerthelater the hand of Ioseph waxed heuye vpon them, so that they became trybutaryes.

³ And the chyldren of Israel cryed vnto the Lorde: for he had nyne hundred charettes of yron, he oppressed the chyldren of Israel wyth power .xx. yeares.

²³ And therto against Iezabel came the word of the lorde sayinge: dogges shall eate Iezabell, vnder the walles of Iezrael.

¹⁰ And as for Iezabel the dogges shall eate her in the feld of Iesrahel, and none shall burye her. And he opened the dore and fled.

²⁷ And when Ohoziah the kynge of Iuda sawe that he fled the waye to the garden house. And Iehu folowed after hym, and sayde: smite him also. And they smote hym in hys charet at the goynge vp to Sur by Ieblaam, & he fleed to Magedo, and there dyed.

³⁷ and the carkas of Iezabel shalbe donge vpon the earthe, in the felde of Iesrahell, the men shall not say thys is Iezabel.

²⁹ In his dayes Pharao Necoh kynge of Egipt went againste the kynge of Assiria to the ryuer of Euphrates. And kynge Iosiah went against hym, and was slayne of hym at Magedo when he had sene him. ³⁰ And his seruauntes caryed him dead from Magedo and brought him to Ierusalem, and buried him in hys owne sepulchre. And the people of the land toke Iehoahaz the sonne of Iosiah, and annoynted him and made hym kynge in hys fathers roume.

²³ And he ouercame the Gessurites and the Aramites, & toke the townes of Iair from them, and Kenath with the townes that longed to the same, euen threskore townes. All these were the sonne of Machir the father of Galaad.

⁶⁷ In whych trybe they gaue vnto them the cytyes of Refuge: Sichem in mount Ephraim wyth her Suburbes, and Gaser wyth her Suburbes,

⁷⁰ And out of the halfe tribe of Manasseh, Aner wyth her Suburbes, and Baalam wyth her Suburbes amonge the kyndredes of the rennant of the sonnes of Cahath.

¹⁴ The sonnes of Manasseh: Azriel whyche Aramiah hys concubine bare: she bare also Machir the father of Galaad. ¹⁵ And Machir gaue to Huphim and Suphim wyues. And the name of hys syster was Maacah. And the name of another sonne was Zalphahad. And Zalphahad had doughters.

¹⁸ And hys syster Melcath bare Ieshud, Abieser and Mohulah:

²⁹ and a longe by the borders of the chyldren of Manasseh, Bethsean wyth her tounes, Thaanah wyth her tounes, Magedo with her tounes and Dud wyth her tounes. In those dwelt the chyldren of Ioseph the sonne of Israel.

⁷ And all the people that were left of the Hethites, Amorites, Pheresites, Heuites and Iebusites, which were not of the chyldren of Israel: ⁸ euen the children of them, which were left after them in the lande, and were not consumed of the chyldren of Israel, then dyd Salomon make trybutaryes vnto thys daye.

²² Neuerthelesse Iosiah turned not his face from him, but made hym readye to fyght wyth him, and herkened not vnto the wordes of Necho out of the mouth of God. And when he was come to fyght in the valeye of Magedo,

¹ When all this was perfourmed, the rulers came to me, & sayde: The people of Israell, and the priestes, & Leuites are not separated from the nacions in the landes as thouchynge theyr abhomynacions, namely of the Cananites, Hethites, Pheresites, Iebusites, Ammonites, Moabites, Egypcyans, and Amorites.

¹ Of Dauid. The Lorde is my lyghte and my health: whome then shoulde I feare? the Lorde is the strength of my life, for whom then shuld I be afraied? ² Therfore when the wycked, euen myne enemies and my foes, came vpon me, to eate vp my flesh, stombled and fell.

¹⁰ Whych peryshed at Endor, & became as the donge of the earth.

¹⁰ be not afrayd, for I will be with the. Loke not behynde the, for I will be thy God, to strength the, helpe the, and to kepe the with this right hand of myne. ¹¹ Behold, all they that resyst the, shall come to confusyon and shame: & thine aduersaries shalbe destroyed and brought to naught. ¹² So that who so seketh after them, shall not fynde them. Thy destroyers shall perysh and so shall they that vndertake to make batell agaynst the: ¹³ For I thy Lorde and God, will strengthen thy ryght hande. Euen I that saye vnto the: Feare not. I will helpe the. ¹⁴ Be not a frayde thou lytle worme Iacob, & thou despysed Israell for I will helpe the, sayeth the Lorde, and the holy one of Israel thyne auenger. ¹⁵ Beholde, I will make the a treadyng cart & a new flayle, that thou mayest thresshe and grynd the mountaynes, and brynge the hylles to poulder. ¹⁶ Thou shalt fanne them, & the wynde shall carye them awaye, and the whyrlwynde shall scater them. But thou shalt reioyse in the Lorde, and shalt delyte in praysinge the holy one of Israel.

¹² Yea I, I am euen he, that in all thynges geueth you consolacion. What arte thou then, that fearest a mortal man, the chylde of man, whiche goeth awaye as doeth the floure? ¹³ And forgettest the Lord that made the, that spred oute the heauens, & layde the foundacyon of the earthe. But thou arte euer afrayde for the syght of thyne oppressour whiche is ready to do harme: Where is the wrath of the oppressoure?

⁴ And the Lorde sayde vnto him: call his name Iesraell, for I wyll shortly auenge the bloude of Iesrael, vpon the house of Iehu, and wyll brynge the kingedome of the house of Israel to an ende. ⁵ Then wyl I breake the bowe of Israel, in the valley of Iesrael.

¹¹ Then shal there be a great mourning at Ierusalem, like as the lamentacion at Adremnon in the feld of Maggadon.

⁴⁸ But he that knewe not, & yet dyd commytte thynges worthye of strypes, shalbe beaten with fewe stripes. For vnto whome muche is geuen, of him shalbe muche requyred. And to whom men muche committe, the more of hym will they axe.

¹² Lette not synne reygne therefore in youre mortall bodyes, that ye shoulde thereunto obey in the lustes of yt. ¹³ Neyther geue ye youre members as instrumentes of vnrightuousnes vnto sinne: but geue yourselues vnto god, as they that are aliue from death. And geue your membres as instrumentes of ryghtuousnes vnto God, ¹⁴ Let not synne haue power ouer you. For ye are not vnder the lawe, but vnder grace.

³¹ What shall we then say vnto these thynges? yf God be on oure syde: who can be agaynste vs?

³⁷ Neuerthelesse in all these thynges we ouercome stronglye thorowe hys helpe that loued vs.

²⁸ Nowe is there no Iewe neyther gentyle, ther is neyther bonde nor free: there is neyther man nor woman, but ye are all one thyng in christ Iesu.

¹⁰ Finally my brethren, be stronge in the Lord and in the power of his myghte.

¹³ I can do al thinges thorowe the helpe of Christe whiche strengtheth me.

⁶ that we maye boldelye say: the Lorde is my helper and I wyll not feare what man doethe vnto me.

¹⁸ but grow in grace, and in the knowledge of oure Lorde and Sauiour Iesus Christe. To whom be glorye both nowe and foreuer. Amen.
